The hotel needs updating. It's out dated and is in need of repair. The restaurant is horrible! I would not recommend it to anyone. However the bedding is nice and crisp!

Staff was able to accomodate an early check in since my flight was in the morning. Very friendly front desk staff! Room was nice and comfy. Will definitely stay there again when visiting Hilo. Highly recommend!

Good for the price

Here’s the deal. If you’re truly just looking for a place to lay your head and shower, this place is a great option. This hotel has so much potential but is very outdated. The best part about this hotel is the location. I’d highly recommend reserving an ocean view room for a great view of Mauna Kea from your balcony. Having a refrigerator in the room was also a plus. The shower water was hot with good water pressure. This is by no means a luxury accommodation but the halls were very quiet at night and the staff was friendly.

Despite current renovation of the lobby, the Hilo Hawaiian provides a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere in an immaculately pristine fashion. Oceanfront room overlooking Coconut island and Hilo Bay was comfortable and private. Filtered water is free from a dispenser rather than a $6.00 room charge. Lovely campus in the heart of Banyon Drive. The staff is overwhelmingly efficient and friendly. Very nice hotel.

Was ok - not fancy, but decent.

Room was clean. Grounds were noisy (people having a good time I suppose but was loud - mixed emotions on that). View was great. People were decent. Fees taxes and more fees (a few pennies short of sixty dollars a day on a hundred twenty dollar rate) nearly 50% seems high even for Hawaii. Otherwise the location is great if you're doing things in Hilo town. The Banyon golf course is across the street. Beautiful parks in the area.
