In two days I had my room changed three times. Air conditioning not working and as per repair guy they were aware of situation and instead of fixing kept putting people in these rooms. New and last room (refused to change again) had a leak in bachroom and in entrance hall, we kept putting tissues on floor so we would not fall. This was supposed to be an upgrade therefore it had an iron, toilet paper holder and tissues. These items were not available in previous two rooms. Food was scarce and poor, I've been to DR approximately 10 times and this has been the worse hotel accommodations we have ever encountered. Also on the second day right before we showered we lost water, when called we were told they were working on it that it was the whole complex. On the third day we lost power as we were getting ready to go for dinner. Thank goodness for my husband's flashlight. Drinks were of poor quality and meats were tough. Only had bacon one day at breakfast and the fruit selection was limited to pineapple and watermelon. They also have a section of the hotel hat supposedly is ecologically protected. Water was in a swamp looking area where the stagnant water smelled of sewer, probably the reason were eaten alive by mosquitoes. I understand they have to protect this but there has to be some kind of spraying to alleviate mosquito bites from guests. Again never in my previous years I was bitten and definitely not as much. Hopefuly won't develop any diseases from that. We were also locked out of our room and not even the cleaning lady could open the door. Thank God she was there and went into another room to call for someone to come but we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to arrive. This is also the first hotel I have encountered that charges a daily fee for the use of the safety deposit box. It's outrageous!!! There is only one thing good and that is the people that work there, they are very pleasant and eager to help and serve you. If it wasn't for them I don't know how we would have made it through the 8 days.

A terrible hotel. Dirty rooms, slow, no problem solving skills by staff, did not feel like a vacation. Checked out of the “resort” a day early to go to a different resort all together to enjoy the last bit of vacation. Waste of money at caribe club princess. So extremely disappointed.

Renee Brown was my roommate. We experienced such serious problems in our first room they eventually moved us. Room 1 problems: bathroom ceiling leaked, toilet and shower both flooded. It was slippery, smelly and we couldn't dry anything in the bathroom. We could not use the hairdryer or get ready for dinner in the bathroom. It was a nightmare. We immediately complained and had to call and visit the front desk many times to get them fixed. The maintenance man came twice. His efforts resulted in no change. The manager moved us to another room, 1162. The AC was broken which made it nighmarishly hot. The TV did not work. The icing on the cake was that sewage water was dripping through the bathroom light fixture over the bathroom sink. We immediately reported the problems. I actually wrote a note to the manager. We called. We told the maids in the hallway. We followed up. They changed the light fixture but of course, the smelly water leak continued! The AC never worked. So it was a nightmare trip. Despite daily emails to Kimberly Perry who booked our trip and who was apparently back from vacation a couple of days before we were leaving, Apple Vacations did NOTHING to help. Kimberly Perry basically blew us off. After the trip was over, she sent an email telling me to call a generic phone number. She did not pass along any message or notes. She had a full list of problems with timely updates. Because of this nightmare experience, I want a refund. I will be reviewing Apple Vacations on outside sites. I have a Readership badge on TripAdvisor. We went on the trip with 6 couples. All of our rooms had issues; water pipes breaking, toilets not working, AC not working (too cold & too hot), trouble with keycard entry, trouble with safes, no hot water, lost electricity twice, light switch exploded in room, room flooded from bathroom pipe, had to take thermostat apart to change temp, sliding doors did not work easily. The hotel is very tired & not well maintained. 9 of 12 had stomach issues. The staff was excellent, except the front desk. Check-in was difficult. Some had trouble getting towels from maids.

The restaurant and bar staff were awesome. Our room was old, bed uncomfortable with aged mattresses and the A/C did not function properly the entire stay. We went to the lobby desk 3 times to complain and ask for another room but we were told by Emmanuel (VIP Manager) and his staff that a better room was not available.

Air Conditioner was the wrost even after they switched our room. Guess is what they can do. The VIP has alot of benefits and one of them is 24 hr. Room service. My kids ordered three different times on different days ice cream "something in the menu" they took the order and it never delivered and if you call to find out the status they won't pick up. Seaweed was horrible but uncontrollable. Beach is nice overall hotel and employees are very nice great attitude and energy. If you tip them they won't forget you. Premium drinks with vip. Cigars are a gift not all that and everyone gets a bottle of brutal. The maid does pop up early. Fills the fridge up with beers soda bottles come and sprite and alot of waters. They will deliver juice if you ask guest services. Most channels are in Spanish but who cares you are there to enjoy. Ask for a main pool room great music. Then party starts at 4 and beach is close.

Good Hotel, staff very friendly, food at the buffet was okay, restaurants food was good. Beach was amazing, some day there was a lot of seaweed but cannot complain, I would recommend to hotel to have new sunbeds in the beach, most were old and I fell a couple of times. Staff was very friendly. Waiting for the trolley took a long time, it was faster to walk from lobby to hotel rooms. Entertainment was okay. Hotel grounds were clean and pretty. I do have to say that maybe hotel needs to check door lock before allowing customers to go in the rooms. Security came two times to our room to change the battery packs to our room as the key was not working. This is twice in one week were we had to wait for them and change battery packs and security took for ever. Another family had the same problem and we had to call the reception area for them as it was late at night. I would go back to hotel as the beach area and some restaurants were very good.

We are just back home after twoo weeks in this wonderful place. It was far better then we expected. The staff works so hard making sure the stay is perfect for the guests. The variation in restaurants and food is very good. The buffet has different temas every night, and the restaurants a good choise of meals. Clean big pools, wonderful white beach, and the park area you just have to experience. We took bread from the breakfast to feed the birds and turtles in the evenings. The rooms and bathrooms was big, and the beds comfortable and big. It could for sure need some upgrade, but it was ok. We did not spend much time in the room anyway. We had some walks outside the hotell area. Found a local bar and talked a bit to the locals. Everybody was so sweet and smiling. We are for sure coming back.

Eight of us stayed here for eleven nights the complex is nice with the wildlife and has three nice pools but we found the sea rough and sea weed on the beach. The Italian Mexican and Bralian restaurants were good Chinese wasn't and the buffet and snack bar were not up to Standard food wasn't covered so soon went cold and a few of us ended up with diarrhoea so take tablets with you also mosquito spray all of us were bit Rooms could do with undating but the air con and fan were great Fridge was filled up every day and our maid kept our room very clean The waiters and staff were very friendly. The wi fi in the Lobby was hit and miss and drinks OK apart from the draft lager.

This is disappointing because I really don't like leaving a bad review. Generally speaking, there's usually enough "good" to make any trip review "average," and I do have great things to say about Caribe Club Princess... but the bad outweighs the good this time. *** Let's start with the good—the beach, the pools and grounds, the food and drink, and the people. The beach is great, especially when you consider that this is more of a budget-level resort compared to many of its neighbors. Between the size and spaciousness of the beach, the number of available palm umbrellas, and how clear of seaweed they keep the beach, this would be a bargain even at a higher price. There are neighboring resorts where the beach has eroded to the point that guests are sitting in loungers next to the chicken wire-wrapped roots of palm trees, surf landing roughly all around them (forget about staying dry or placing any of your belongings on the sand), staring out at massive sand bags just yards away. If you’re more of a pool person, this type of thing may be forgivable, but if you’re a beach person… well, let’s just say that for this fact at least, I was glad to be at the Club Caribe Princess. The pools were nice too. Not massive, and I have to admit that I avoided the activity/party pool for all but one day (one hour), and never made it into one of the other ones (that I assume was officially part of Tropical Princess Resort), but the one I frequented in the afternoons was reasonably clean, reasonably quiet, and still close enough to bathroom facilities and a bar, as there was no drink service. The grounds themselves are actually very nice. Not quite as lush as some resorts, and certainly some of the loungers could be updated, but it was a nice looking resort. The resort has a number of bars positioned around the grounds, including a swim up bar, a beachside bar, open 24 hours a day, a large bar near the pool that I didn’t use, and one near the beach and the pool that I did spend time in. This one was the outside part of the Brazilian restaurant. Service there was great, and not just because I became familiar with the regular bartender. She was as pleasant to everyone else as she was to me, did a great job of working through language differences from guests that spoke Russian, French, Italian, English, Portuguese and Spanish, and truly seemed to enjoy herself. I got a name early on and just can’t remember it. The resort also had a bar in the lobby and theater, at the other end of the property, and of course drink service in each restaurant, including the buffet. In general, drinks were very good. Frozen drinks were always available, continuously churning in those slushy vendor machine devices, so occasionally your drink would be less icey and more liquid, but generally they were pretty good. Interestingly, I saw plenty of pina coladas but not a single daquari, and I don’t even know if they were offered. Mixed drinks were strong and delicious, cold Presidente beer was available everywhere you can say “cerveza, por favor.” The restaurants here were better than expected, especially for a budget resort! There are two restaurants that are not included that you can go to for $35 or $30 (US), but I didn’t see the point. I was able to experience the Brazilian rodizio-style restaurant, which was actually very good, Mexican, Italian, Asian and Dominican. All were average or better for a resort, and I have to say that I really enjoyed the fact that each night there was a special drink brought to guests when you sat down that was supposed to reflect the restaurant you were eating at. The Brazilian had some interpretation of a caipirinha, while the Mexican had a margarita, for example. Many of the restaurants offered a salad/antipast/self-serve appetizer “bar” that was also a nice change of pace. The folks at Club Caribe are very nice. I read in some resorts that there was a real language barrier, and there were examples of staff that didn’t speak much English, but I never felt like I couldn’t get my point across. More importantly, everyone I encountered tried, which is more than I can say for some of the guests. I’d say that most of the staff understood more English than most Americans understand Spanish. Americans, however, were a minority here! Mostly I heard Russian and Spanish, some Portuguese, and some French, Italian, and even German. I heard more British English than American English. So, the staff has a lot of languages to contend with, and did so generally with a smile. Even when I arrived and there was a glitch with my reservations (I had reserved two rooms for three people, and they had all three of us in one room), they worked as quickly as possible to correct the issue. Everyone at Club Caribe is trying their best, and that might be the best thing the resort has going for it! Let’s talk about the bad—the rooms and… no, mostly just the rooms. And the Mosquitos. I read before coming that the rooms were in desperate need of updating, but figured that I could deal with that since I’d be outside most of the time and was getting a good price. However, it seems that “desperate need of updating” is not an understatement. FYI, I stayed in a “Superior Room” and can’t speak for any others. They look nice enough when you enter, though they are sparse. The bed linens are outdated, which is fine, but didn’t particularly feel clean. Nothing about the room did, but that may have been my imagination. There was a faint smell of smoke in the rooms and on the furnishings too. Rooms have ashtrays in them, and this being one of the more smoky resorts I’ve stayed at in recent years confirms to me that rooms aren’t divided by smoking and non-smoking. Towels were old, thin and limited. We had two bath towels, two hand towels and a bath mat, nothing more. One day we returned in the afternoon to no bath mat, and most days, our used towels were just re-folded and placed back on the shelf. Glasses were likewise rinsed and placed back on the sink. The most disturbing thing was the mold in the showers. I think that made me feel even dirtier than the large cockroach I captured one night. Add to that the fact that you didn’t really want to be under the covers of your bed at night but HAD TO BE because of the mosquitos, and you get a room experience you’d like to forget. Mosquitos were a massive problem at the resort. The front of the resort, including the lobby, theater and gift shops, are separated from the rest of the resort by a long walk through a marsh. There’s lots of waterfowl, turtles and other animals, and it can be picturesque, but it’s a marsh nonetheless, and moreover, it was a flooded marsh while I was there. Mosquitos were, as a result, more of a problem here than anywhere else I’ve been. Judging by the welts on other people’s legs and arms, I can say that it wasn’t only a problem I experienced. *** Like I said, it’s disappointing to have to report these things, and normally I’d give a resort a pass for something like bad décor or even a cockroach. But the fact is, updating the rooms is long overdue, and more spraying, fumigating and, I don’t know, maybe some bug zappers, and the problems could be fixed. The staff should be commended on working as hard as they do, and the beach is truly very nice… but those rooms… ugh.

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Caribe Princess. Check in was very quick and efficient. The little train took us and our luggage to our room. Yes the rooms are outdated but very clean and tidy and to be honest, how much time do you spend in your room. We could not fault the staff when we had a few issues, they were there within literally minutes, even to the extent that when the air con unit went wrong it was replaced within 90 minutes! Our beds were really comfy and the linen changed regularly, clean towels each day. Our maid Maria was excellent, she kept our room very clean and our fridge stocked with water and soft drinks every day. The food in the buffet restaurant was very good, plenty of choice, there was always something for everyone. Breakfast is good , a big hit are the 2 egg stations. We really enjoyed the Mexican and Brazilian restaurants, the staff at the Brazilian are amazing, we ate there 3 times!! We didn’t have to wait any longer than 10 minutes to book the individual restaurants. The bar staff are really efficient, Claxton at the beach bar is a real character keeping everyone entertained and Jinette at the Rodisio bar to name but a few. The creperie is a real bonus, the special coffees and hot chocolates are really good and it’s a really nice comfy place to chill out. The staff work tirelessly keeping the beach clean and the beautiful grounds immaculate. They regularly spray the grounds to keep the bugs at bay. Also you have the opportunity to have your room sprayed each week to eliminate any unwanted room guests! All three pools were kept really clean. The foam pool party was great fun. The hotel is in a lovely setting. The walk through the “swamp” to reception was really lovely, so much to see, turtles, iguanas, peacocks, ducks, geese, birds, flamingos, fish etc etc. We booked a fishing trip with Seapro who were very well organised and professional, we wouldn’t hesitate to book again with them. The adult show starts at 9.45 which we found too late and the few times we did watch, it wasn’t amazing. The popcorn and the bar was a nice touch. We have booked again to return next July for a family holiday and are very much looking forward to it. Just to sum up. As long as you remember this is not a 5 star hotel but it is a really great 4 star with staff who work tirelessly to give guests a good service.

On the day we arrived we discovered that the toilet flush was not working, the aircon wasn’t either and pieces of the ceiling basically fell off on us. The toilet was dirty and with so much limescale...gross! We called reception to report the issues and asked to change room, they said we had to wait until the next day to change room! We said that we couldn’t stay in that room and argued with reception. We had to call other three times to get a final answer to wait for 10 minutes for somebody to come and help us changing the room. In the other room the blanket had holes in it, toilet was better but still not as clean as you would expect in a 5 star resort. The WiFi in the lobby was not working well and when we asked to rent a router (5$/day +100$ deposit) they told me that I could only rent it until the end of our stay. When I argued that I was going to leave in the morning on the last day, and why should I pay for something that I wasn’t going to use, the person at the reception (very poor English speaker) kept saying that we could only rent it for the whole stay. Housekeeping is disastrous: they don’t bother cleaning the bathroom most of the time, we had to ask to refill the fridge, we asked to change the sheets and they didn’t,and when they did they were stained! we asked for new towels and came in the room to find none and had to ask twice before we got them! We spoke to the manager who apologised but looked more bored than sorry, and told me he would get back to me. Never did. Tried to speak with his assistant about the WiFi issue and she didn’t apologise or try to suggest a solution, only said “a technician is trying to fix it but is going to take time”! We then booked a taxi to the airport the day before our departure at the customer support desk. On the day the taxi didn’t arrive, we had to go back and ask to call for another one. The taxi finally arrived but the driver wasn’t going to accept cards (which the person at the desk the day before assured us it was possible!) It has been an absolute disaster! It is a true shame as the public areas are super nice, the beachfront is fantastic and the pools always clean. The restaurants are also good, but again not a service that you would expect in a so claimed 5 stars resort. In places like this, where the all inclusive is standard, upselling is key and they don’t understand that if a customer is unhappy they won’t spend a penny more! Only one lady at the guest support was helpful and proactive, Juana, who actually tried to fix the problems. People at the bar and the restaurants are nice and friendly but unfortunately is not enough. This has definitely tainted our Dominican experience.
