Wil never go or recommend this hotel

In two days I had my room changed three times. Air conditioning not working and as per repair guy they were aware of situation and instead of fixing kept putting people in these rooms. New and last room (refused to change again) had a leak in bachroom and in entrance hall, we kept putting tissues on floor so we would not fall. This was supposed to be an upgrade therefore it had an iron, toilet paper holder and tissues. These items were not available in previous two rooms. Food was scarce and poor, I've been to DR approximately 10 times and this has been the worse hotel accommodations we have ever encountered. Also on the second day right before we showered we lost water, when called we were told they were working on it that it was the whole complex. On the third day we lost power as we were getting ready to go for dinner. Thank goodness for my husband's flashlight. Drinks were of poor quality and meats were tough. Only had bacon one day at breakfast and the fruit selection was limited to pineapple and watermelon. They also have a section of the hotel hat supposedly is ecologically protected. Water was in a swamp looking area where the stagnant water smelled of sewer, probably the reason were eaten alive by mosquitoes. I understand they have to protect this but there has to be some kind of spraying to alleviate mosquito bites from guests. Again never in my previous years I was bitten and definitely not as much. Hopefuly won't develop any diseases from that. We were also locked out of our room and not even the cleaning lady could open the door. Thank God she was there and went into another room to call for someone to come but we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to arrive. This is also the first hotel I have encountered that charges a daily fee for the use of the safety deposit box. It's outrageous!!! There is only one thing good and that is the people that work there, they are very pleasant and eager to help and serve you. If it wasn't for them I don't know how we would have made it through the 8 days.

A terrible hotel. Dirty rooms, slow, no problem solving skills by staff, did not feel like a vacation. Checked out of the “resort” a day early to go to a different resort all together to enjoy the last bit of vacation. Waste of money at caribe club princess. So extremely disappointed.

Room 1: Shower, bathroom and toilet flooded, bathroom ceiling leaked, Room 2: No AC, smelly sewage water dripping from ceiling, broken TV

Renee Brown was my roommate. We experienced such serious problems in our first room they eventually moved us. Room 1 problems: bathroom ceiling leaked, toilet and shower both flooded. It was slippery, smelly and we couldn't dry anything in the bathroom. We could not use the hairdryer or get ready for dinner in the bathroom. It was a nightmare. We immediately complained and had to call and visit the front desk many times to get them fixed. The maintenance man came twice. His efforts resulted in no change. The manager moved us to another room, 1162. The AC was broken which made it nighmarishly hot. The TV did not work. The icing on the cake was that sewage water was dripping through the bathroom light fixture over the bathroom sink. We immediately reported the problems. I actually wrote a note to the manager. We called. We told the maids in the hallway. We followed up. They changed the light fixture but of course, the smelly water leak continued! The AC never worked. So it was a nightmare trip. Despite daily emails to Kimberly Perry who booked our trip and who was apparently back from vacation a couple of days before we were leaving, Apple Vacations did NOTHING to help. Kimberly Perry basically blew us off. After the trip was over, she sent an email telling me to call a generic phone number. She did not pass along any message or notes. She had a full list of problems with timely updates. Because of this nightmare experience, I want a refund. I will be reviewing Apple Vacations on outside sites. I have a Readership badge on TripAdvisor. We went on the trip with 6 couples. All of our rooms had issues; water pipes breaking, toilets not working, AC not working (too cold & too hot), trouble with keycard entry, trouble with safes, no hot water, lost electricity twice, light switch exploded in room, room flooded from bathroom pipe, had to take thermostat apart to change temp, sliding doors did not work easily. The hotel is very tired & not well maintained. 9 of 12 had stomach issues. The staff was excellent, except the front desk. Check-in was difficult. Some had trouble getting towels from maids.

The restaurant and bar staff were awesome. Our room was old, bed uncomfortable with aged mattresses and the A/C did not function properly the entire stay. We went to the lobby desk 3 times to complain and ask for another room but we were told by Emmanuel (VIP Manager) and his staff that a better room was not available.

Air Conditioner was the wrost even after they switched our room. Guess is what they can do. The VIP has alot of benefits and one of them is 24 hr. Room service. My kids ordered three different times on different days ice cream "something in the menu" they took the order and it never delivered and if you call to find out the status they won't pick up. Seaweed was horrible but uncontrollable. Beach is nice overall hotel and employees are very nice great attitude and energy. If you tip them they won't forget you. Premium drinks with vip. Cigars are a gift not all that and everyone gets a bottle of brutal. The maid does pop up early. Fills the fridge up with beers soda bottles come and sprite and alot of waters. They will deliver juice if you ask guest services. Most channels are in Spanish but who cares you are there to enjoy. Ask for a main pool room great music. Then party starts at 4 and beach is close.

Good Hotel, staff very friendly, food at the buffet was okay, restaurants food was good. Beach was amazing, some day there was a lot of seaweed but cannot complain, I would recommend to hotel to have new sunbeds in the beach, most were old and I fell a couple of times. Staff was very friendly. Waiting for the trolley took a long time, it was faster to walk from lobby to hotel rooms. Entertainment was okay. Hotel grounds were clean and pretty. I do have to say that maybe hotel needs to check door lock before allowing customers to go in the rooms. Security came two times to our room to change the battery packs to our room as the key was not working. This is twice in one week were we had to wait for them and change battery packs and security took for ever. Another family had the same problem and we had to call the reception area for them as it was late at night. I would go back to hotel as the beach area and some restaurants were very good.

The rooms are a bit dated but they are cleaned everyday, the beds were very comfortable, what more can you wish for. You don't go away to spend all your time in the room. A set of drawers would be helpful to put clothes in. The entertainment was fantastic. We were there for Halloween. Those guys and girls had halloween costumes on all day in all that heat while they did the dancing and exercise classes and then did a wonderful show in the evening. The best holiday entertainment I've ever had. The restaurant and grounds were really well decorated They all worked very hard. My grandsons - all teenagers- joined in the games round the pool and my daughter and I did the aquacise classes. There was dancing on the beach. The grounds are beautifully kept. The trees, birds and wildlife are beautiful. There is transport if you don't want to walk between reception and the restaurants, pools or rooms. We were on the third floor and unfortunately there was no lifts. Its just about done my knees in but perhaps we should have asked to change rooms in the first place. I have no knowledge of whats there for children. They had a treasure hunt on the beach and took children on a trick or treat procession through the restaurant so there is something for children but that's all I knew about it. Not may English people there but some had booked later than us and got it cheaper. Again not everyone can book last minute when you have to consider fixed holidays etc. When you consider how far away it is I don't suppose it was expensive and it certainly wasn't 5* prices. There are two other pools and they might have been quieter. The crepes bar was the worst for service and the ice cream was very soft. Other holiday makers unfortunately leave their plates and cups for someone else to clear up round the pool which has the bar in and some groups of people drinking in the pool were quite noisy towards tea time. They were having a good time with the bar staff. We had a wonderful time and would love to go back.

Good but no "wow"

Just returned from a week at the caribe club. First trip to punta Cana after many trips to Cuba. Because I always refer to tripadvisor reviews before booking I'll try to include as much as I can without being too wordy. I may also make comparisons between here and Cuban trips to put things in perspective. The resort is nice. The superior room is all you really need. The room was clean and everything actually worked. No concerns with lack of electricity or hot water. It was cleaned daily and the fridge was stocked with pop, water and on some occasions beer. There were no issues with mold, mildew or bugs. Not even mosquitos. The air conditioner was a little noisy but it worked and the noise wasn't noticed after the first day or so. The shower is built such that it has no door (thus less maintenance I guess) and often the floor was quite wet - thankful for the bath mat. The in room safe is included in the price. Check in was quick. Grounds are maintained and clean. The lobby is a distance from the rest of the resort but the walk is scenic and full of wildlife- there is a trolley that comes by every 5 minutes or so if you choose not to walk. The rest of the resort is well laid out and everything is close. When researching resorts it was very confusing as there is the caribe club as well as the tropical princess. From what I could see I belvie the tropical princess is a section of villas on the same property but otherwise all amenities are the same. The beAch was nice and clean. Although there were venders on the beach they weren't bothersome and security were always present. Three are 2 beach restaurants and bars as well as a pool bar and lobby bar. Didn't check out any of the night shows or entertainment. The downfall was the buffet. Breakfast and lunch were the same everyday. supper did have a differnt theme every night. At the time of our stay we encountered about a half dozen people who spoke English and or were North American. Majority of the vacationers were European (particularly Russian). As a result the buffet seemed to cater to their palettes (which makes sense). However in doing so there were very few familiar looking foods I wished to eat. As a result the beach restaurants became our lunch time go to. The buffet choices did include the basics- meat, pasta, fish etc but many of the side dishes or salads were unappealing looking... pickled squid, chopped wieners in brine, chopped ham in sauce etc. Although these items did not appeal to us others seemed to enjoy. Unlike Cuba I never had concerns with food not being cooked properly and they had all the same condiments of home. By far the only downfall of this vacation location was the buffet. We never went hungry but the 5 a la carted were likely why. Those restaurants were all very good with delicious choices. Had the buffet been differnt I would likely rate this escort higher. Staff were all attentive and friendly (not Cuba friendly) but nice enough. As I mentioned we had no issues with bugs in our room nor on the beach (not a mosquito to be seen). There were quite a few families with young children there during our stay. Apparently the first week of November is a school break in Russia- assuming this may be why. I would give this resort a solid 3 or 3+ rating. If the price was right I would recommend. After speaking with others on my flight from other resorts the caribe club sounded Li,e a good choice. Many travelers were not happy with their punta Cana vacations. I did find punta Cana somewhat disappointing (not sure what I was expecting) but the resort was clean, well maintained and safe feeling. There simply was no wow factor that makes me want to pick punta Cana over a Cuban vacation.

Not for families

Some of the staff were really lovely but this hotel is not right for families. We had a ocean view room, which did have a nice view. However there was a communal hot tub outside which, on more than one occasion had lots of very drunk and loud people in it. I asked them politely one night to be quieter as my grandson was asleep and I received a torrent of abuse and threats. I rang hotel security who did come but then told them our room had complained and more threats were screamed. It was very unpleasant and I lost a nights sleep. Next the food was okay but there is a real issue with flies and no attempt to deal with this. For example, I took my grandson for a pizza and there were flies crawling all over the pizza bases before the chap used the base. My husband came home seven pounds lighter which is a first ever for a holiday. The drinks were not great. Every cocktail was made so half heartedly, it was just slopped in a glass. In the end we stuck to wine which was drinkable. The crepe restaurant could have been nice but was understaffed and staff there were grumpy. The crepes were ok but all the ice cream is virtually liquid by the time you get it. The hygiene in the facilities is poor. The rooms were okay. Very dated and desperately in need of refurbishment but the housekeeping staff were good and did keep the room clean. The communal facilities though got very dirty. There were cigarette butts on the floor everywhere round the pool. The communal areas just felt the unloved, sticky and not very pleasant. The beach is okay but not for kids. Huge waves and lots of seaweed. It was the worst beach have visited in the Caribbean. The beaches in Barbados and other islands were far superior. However my biggest problem was the kids club and the kids facilities. We tried to use the kids club but the woman running the place was so unprofessional it was unbelievable. My grandson got upset and she let him go back to the room on his own (he is 6) she then shouted at him. I talked to the rep and the hotel but nobody seemed to care at all. There were no other children using the kids club and by day two I understood why. The kids club staff were so unhelpful it was shocking. We went to ask about sports equipment and they just jerked their head to an area and didn't even respond or get up. We couldn't find anything so there was even less for kids to do. Overall, the hotel has a lot of drunk people staying and the staff try but the communal areas feel unpleasant. If you were a couple I'm sure you could have a decent time but I'd spend a bit more and go to a better hotel or upgrade to another island. If you are a family stay well clear, this is not the place to take children.

This is our 3rd trip to PC having stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe and Ambar. After much digging through reviews, we settled for the Caribe Club after passing up on some other resorts. The grounds are great, especially the eco area between the lobby and the rest of the complex. The place looked beautiful at night during our evening walks. The lobby is not as large as I would have expected and did not have enough seating. There was a DJ but was pretty dead with people's heads buried in their phones. Our room was 2111, with our room facing the ocean which was awesome. We heard doors banging all night. No fault of the people, but you have no choice but to slam the doors. There was a hot tub just outside our room (stupid idea) and heard people being noisy most nights. The food was ok and not what I expected. The beach is beautiful, but not even close the beaches in Cuba. Time to go back to Cuba where the beaches are better and the food just as good. The entertainment in Cuba was way better as well.

We are just back home after twoo weeks in this wonderful place. It was far better then we expected. The staff works so hard making sure the stay is perfect for the guests. The variation in restaurants and food is very good. The buffet has different temas every night, and the restaurants a good choise of meals. Clean big pools, wonderful white beach, and the park area you just have to experience. We took bread from the breakfast to feed the birds and turtles in the evenings. The rooms and bathrooms was big, and the beds comfortable and big. It could for sure need some upgrade, but it was ok. We did not spend much time in the room anyway. We had some walks outside the hotell area. Found a local bar and talked a bit to the locals. Everybody was so sweet and smiling. We are for sure coming back.
