Great location, near the beach, nice view of this side of the Caribbean. Nice staff, a little laid back. Upon arrival a peppermint and coconut drink was served without alcohol. The smell of Grandma´s closet is everywhere!! The stench made my stomach hurt and gave me a slight headache. Lucky, the smell is more in the public areas and not so much in the spacious, well lit rooms, it´s even in reception!!! We had double beds, a wide screen television, which I mention because in order to listen to English, the audio has to be changed from Spanish to English, which is a great secret kept from English speaking people. No one tells you this, and it´s not on the ¨where is everything¨ sheet. This is not malice, it´s just not thought about, a minor infraction to hotel enjoyment. Wanting to watch CNN, I called reception, they said they would send someone up. I thought and said, that´s okay, but they sent someone up (very nice gentleman) and viola! English was alive and well! Some sports channels were still in Spanish, but most could get a check mark and sail right into English!! Breakfast is not the greatest. Breads and cakes look washed out, choices are not too varied. The drinkable yogurt wasn´t attractive either. Fruit, other than papaya is not very sweet. Coffee was strong and ugly, but we gave the server a good evaluation, it wasn´t his fault. He gave us a form to fill out saying he was good. What can you do, caught between yes and what!!??? The server, behind the cook counter, is of African ancestry and shares this history by wearing a very colorful dress and headscarf, reminiscent of the old Aunt Jemima Pancake and Waffle mix from the 1950s. There´s a rooftop pool and bar on 22nd. The gym and spa are on four. The attendant followed me around in the gym trying to get me to do a massage instead of allowing me to work out. I asked if I could have some water and she showed me another door where there was another massage table. I left the gym, not in the mood for the unwanted intrusion. A printout is given to guests when they check-in with times and locations of things, except I was standing at the gym at 6:00 a.m., already too late for me, and it never opened, later the attendant told me that was only Monday through Fridays that the gym opened that early. The room key doesn´t work for the gym or pool areas, they are under solid lock and key and can only be opened by hotel staff, as though the treadmill is a National treasure. The rooms are equipped with balconies, a table and two chairs. Nice for watching the beach, when you´re not walking it!! Hotel a wee junky in public areas, and that smelly closet keeps your nose alive. Four computers are installed near the breakfast alcove for public use. Floor for breakfast is not exact, it says two on the strip of paper, cut to fit a wallet or just to take-away, you get off the elevator and go up, they call it three. Not difficult, just true. Last word, comfortable hotel, in the middle of night life, dining, and street vendors around the corner and the beach on the front side.

Good location, friendly staff, there are areas where repairs are required, balconies railings, some pool tiles with cracks, good house keeping, areas clean, well maintained. Towels rough, not nice to use, Check out slow.

Just to have the room clean before 12pm, because sometimes is cleaned after 3 pm and that is unconfortable for the guest and also make sure that the room is complete organized. I like the service at the restaurant.
