We have just returned after a 2 week stay. To start with the negatives. Went with TUi but we were not informed about the exit tax you had to pay for on leaving the country which was £60.00 each or in pesos 1,400 which needed to be paid in cash at departure. When you arrive in Puerto Vallarta airport the TUi staff meet you outside the airport , but before you get this far you are bombarded by people giving you free Margaritas but want you to visit their hotels, this is timeshare and some of travellers got conned as after an 11 hour flight you are tired so be aware and don’t get engaged with these people. The other negative the beach was very small ,and a bit stoney we did swim a couple times in the sea which was like bath water but it was rough and went deep very quickly so not suitable for young children. The beach sellers were a bit of a pain but we just ignored them and they went away. The hotel had exceptional cleanliness and the staff work tirelessly to ensure the areas are always clean. Our sheets and towels were changed daily which was a first. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We did have a few issues but the service desk sorted the problems out within a few minutes. I was ill while there and the services arranged for me to see a doctor who sorted out that I had a virus that I picked up . The service desk telephoned the room to check I was ok and asked if I needed anything and they would bring it to the room. The food was excellent with a vast variety of different cuisines to choose from. The 3 a la carte restaurants were great and our favourite was the Italian but the Surf and turf and Mexican were also good. While we stayed it was Mexican Independence Day the hotel layed on a fantastic buffet with live entertainment this was a great evening. There was plenty to do in the evenings if you like that sort of thing, karaoke, bingo, dance shows etc. There was also a great choice of drinks and bars with none not on the all inclusive deal and the staff even brought drinks even before you had finished them. There were 2 pools to choose from the main pool and aso if you prefer a quietert luxury pool around the back of the hotel and we found this the best place to be. Apart from having Mexican tummy this was a fantastic holiday and hotel. Well done!

All in all we had a lovely time

We enjoyed our stay here, there were many pros and a few cons. The location suited us, right on the beach, which is very narrow, the sea was warm but quite pebbly to get in and out of. Vallarta is nice to spend time in and was easily assessible, you could walk (around 30 min), or get a bus or taxi, it has a variety of shops, bars and restaurants and an old town packed with jewellery shops. The marina and light house are a short taxi ride away. It has a more personal feel than many of the ‘all inclusive’ chains that are identical regardless of country. Pros The staff are exceptional and cannot do enough, the place is spotlessly clean in both the public areas and rooms. We loved the a-la-carte restaurants, the steak in the Mexican and Surf & Turf was lovely, and the Italian had some great dishes. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, no need to rush to save. Pool is a nice size and never felt over crowded. Nice snack bar right by the pool which has a nice variety of light lunches, or you can go into the main restaurant, but of course you have to be completely dry and cover up. Cons The hotel is very dated and the bathrooms are not 4*, mould and peeling paint, the shower was ok but not great. It also felt damp, so suggest when having a shower leave the balcony door open and the air-con on otherwise the whole place steams up. No fridges in the rooms was a surprise for 4* Food in the buffet is random, we found breakfast best, it wasn’t the quality it was the lack of choice, it seemed they mainly catered for the Mexican market, some non-spiced meats, potatoes and veg would have been welcome or even pasta and sauce, when they did do Spaghetti Bolognaise it was delicious. Be wary of the ice, there is a container of water on the bar which is basically defrosted ice, it’s left overnight and then topped up in the morning, which caused some tummy issues. Entertainment staff work hard and are very friendly, evening entertainment is a bit basic. They did a karaoke a couple of nights, but by the time they sorted things out it only lasted about 40 mins as they tend to finish 10.30 on the dot.

We are here at present and are more than happy with it, we had a couple of issues with our rooms and as soon as we spoke with guest services Jono came to see us and immediately took us to look at another room, he said we want you to enjoy your vacation, within 45 minutes we were in it, Abel helped move us and the security (didn't get his name) came to reset our safety deposit box, well done you guys! The hotel is spotless staff working all the day and evenings to keep it so. Gardens are immaculate, the food is good, varied and plentiful, it's an older hotel yes but we have NEVER had such service as we have here. Thank you and Well done every single person that works at this hotel

So we gave it 4 not 5 So here are the negative bits not many Shower could do with updating for a 4star hotel When it rains the hotel front floods and you can not get in or out For us they had no ginger ale (ha ha) The music round the pool is monotonous So basically nothing much wrong The good bits The staff are fantastic and never stop working The cleanliness is fab The drinks are all branded except Baileys but then who cares Watch out foe ice as this will give you Mexican tummy The entertainment is ok but not fab Overall we have enjoyed our stay

After reading some of the reviews I was slightly worried before I went on holiday. On arriving all my worries went, the reception was a well drilled team and we were in our room within minutes, a nice double room with two large comfy beds, a small balcony with two seats and a table (garden view in booking) a view of the next hotel and the sea. Main Pool was a medium size and not too deep and a smaller second pool was at the other side of the hotel, quieter better loungers. A number of bars with a great selection of drinks for all catered for drinks side, the food was in a number of different locations there are three a la carte restaurants, a seafood( surf and turf) an Italian and a Mexican we ate at all three whilst there but the Mexican was our favourite outstanding service and food, there were two poolside eateries the main pool one was ver good nice shrimp tacos, fish tacos, nachos and burgers the other pool had a different menu more kind of all fish or seafood dishes not my kind of thing but still nice, the man restaurant for all other meals had various menus themed fr every day, a omelette station, a smoothie and shake stations and a buffet layout fresh fruit, a number of main courses and deserts, The daily entertainment was put on by the staff mainly around the main pool, water polo, volleyball quizzes ETC there was a kids club for younger children but we didn't use it, the night was a different theme from Mexican to a decades show not everyone's cup of tea and a little dated, but these are staff from the hotel not professional entertainers miming to songs to try to keep you entertained. The beach is at the end of the hotel is mainly rocks and stones not nice under foot and the sea is warm but because of the rocks and stones not good to go in no good for snorkelling there are a number of jet ski there 1200 pesos for half an hour or 250 pesos for banana boat, the hotel does provide kyacks but we tried six times to get them out (10:30- 14:30) and each time the staff said it was too rough to get them out. The red flags on the beach only changed once whilst we where there. The thing that makes this hotel is the service, all the staff work very hard and nothing was too much trouble for them they run round all day, to try to ensure you have a great stay from house keeping to gardening they all work hard always have a smile on their faces and take the time to talk to you and thank you for visiting their country. As a family we have been to many different parts of the world and I can honestly say that this is by far the safest place we have visited, I never felt threatened once even going out on my own , when asked by sellers a simple no gracious was enough and we were left alone no constant hassle, you could browse at your leisure. We enjoyed our holiday a little tummy trouble for a couple of days for a few of us but overall a great holiday
