The main restaurant served an excellent breakfast, the fresh fruit, juice, and omelet bar was excellent. The seaside restaurant was beautiful and excellent for dinner the two nights we dined there. I thought the evening meals served at the main restaurant, although not terrible, were a little lacking, both in the menu offered and quality. We really enjoyed everything else about our stay. The pool area is fantastic.

Should Have Been Better

We stayed at the Camino Real Zaashila 15 years ago for our honeymoon and it was wonderful. It's now missing the mark in several areas. Good customer service skills were lacking from the front desk staff at most times. Our general questions on things like water quality in the hotel were not answered truthfully... we were told to buy the bottled water, when in actuality, the water from the hotel tap is of good quality and drinkable without issue. The rooms have old, uncomfortable beds. Our room lock broke the 1st night there and we were told we had to move to another room without much help from the staff. And, the new room wasn't cleaned properly until the next day.

We had a great time at the camino. It's just the right size - not too big/crowded and not so small it has nothing to offer. The staff was friendly and the food was amazing. I just wish the wifi was free.

We have been at this hotel several times and loved it, however, we are older now and with health difficulties walking up and down the stairs was rough. The meals were not up to par as previous years. The menus never change, no Authentic Mexican cusine, the drinks were very weak, at times seemed like there was NO alcohol in them. We were not informed about the mini bar being part of the All Inclusive and the Bottled Water in the room as part of the deal. On our previous visits there was never a Convention group or if there were we were never bothered by the loudness of the people. There was so much loud music till 4 in the morning on two of the days. That is uncalled for really at any hotel. With that exception I would not recommend this hotel to people of our ages. Too many stairs and we are not up to it. We did enjoy the week of beautiful weather and the hotel in general. Thank you.

We were very disappointed that the restaurants were not available at times due to a convention that was taking place there. I would not stay anywhere in the future when the hotel has a convention going on. The convention was loud and the people were drunk and rude. But we do enjoy the hotel normally and have stayed there often. apple is great

Very nice hotel on a private beach. It does help if you speak Spanish for this hotel. We were able to make our wants known with the help of Isasic and Enrique from the hotel. Room service was great and always on time, very good selection on the menu. Great service at the beach as we had meet Enrique at dinner the first night. He watched for us and help greatly. The room had a great balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The rooms were cleaned daily and very good service. If you are expecting man things to do this is not the hotel, it is very relaxing and has the feel of Mexico. The message that we had was great and relaxing. It is just 68 pesos into town for shopping. This destination feels very safe as it was 2 women traveling for a getaway for sun and relation

This hotel is perfect if you like peace and quiet, which is exactly what I was looking for in a vacation. No annoying music at the pool, no intrusions from an activity staff urging you to limbo or do water aerobics. Uncrowded and a real hidden gem.

Deelightful Stay

Our family, five adults and two little ones enjoyed a fabulous stay at Camino Real on our Apple vacation. Plane and transportation were quick and easy. Only snafue was not being able to get our assigned seats earlier.. It caused a lot of stress not having family together. We understand you are working on that. Only other suggestion was to ask Camino Real to bring back the childrens menu. It became difficult to get lunch and dinner for them with only adult menu. Staff of hotel and Apple could not have been more friendly and family oriented.

Quick observations re recent stay at Camino Real Zaashila in Huatulco

We have stayed at Zaashila many times. Because the occupancy rate was so low the week of April 14th they closed the beach bar some days and also the Chez Binni dining room. This was disappointing and would make us question another stay at Zaashila. We also noticed the lounge cushions around the pool and room balcony were not being cared for - they were often covered with bird poop. Maintenance seems to have slipped the last couple of years - too bad as it's a beautiful facility. regards, Ann K Peterson

No internet, only at the lobby
EasyTrips V, Vancouver, Canada

The hotel and the location are nice. However, there are a few things that it should not happened in a hotel like Camino Real. There is NO wifi in the hotel, just in the lobby. There is not wifi at the rooms, pools, etc so if you need to checked something on internet you will have to go to the lobby. GET SOME EXTRA FREE MODEMS FROM TELMEX, AND INSTALL THEM AT LEAST AT THE RESTAURANTS, POOL AND BARS. For the 300 Dlls per night I think you guys can afford to have internet all over the hotel. Their taxis charge you double and they change the prices all the time. They tell you one price and then when they drop you off they say a different thing. We agreed a tour with one of them and then he texted us saying that it was way more, same for a quick ride to the town. Is way better if you walk 5 min and you take a cab in the small square where they stop. The food is not good for the price you pay, we dont mind to pay even though if its expensive but we expect good food. Also the juice that they offer was expired. The rooms are a bit old but nice. However, the toilet is licking. Most of the staff is nice but overall this is not what we expected from Camino Real at all.

A great escape

This was our second year in a row to this resort. It has become an annual tradition for good reason. The resort is small quiet, and perfect for people who want to really get away. The lack of flash and splash is exactly why we choose to stay here. Amazing, friendly helpful staff. Fabulous view, and an unbelievable pool. All without the masses of loud obnoxious partiers. My partner had to pinky swear that we'd be back next year. (Already booked). Being greeted with real friendliness and called by name on arrival makes it more like returning home than traveling.

We were actually at the resort in Jan 2017. We were there for a month. We loved every minute. Relaxed, first class, quiet, lovely food and bev. Outstanding wait staff! Avelino and Josefina were two of many great people. What a pool! Enjoyed the fitness centre although it is nothing fancy. I had the equipment to myself most mornings. Fun beach when the surf was up. We plan to return for two weeks. One question: I'm an avid windsurfer and there were windy days out in the bay during our stay. Can I rent modern gear in town or at a neighbouring resort? For a decent price? Perhaps I could launch up the beach at the next resort where the shorebreak is not as agro? I noticed many SUP and dinghys coming from the neighbouring hotel beach. Windsurfing would be a wonderful addition for me! Cheers! Jan & Mitch from Mannitoba.

Loved our Vacation, but certainly wasn't perfect

Overall, we had a great time at the Camino Real. Positives: - Beautiful beach location, just a short taxi ride from Crucecita - The hotel itself was beautiful and charming - the grounds were kept extremely clean and there were plenty of amenities - The rooms very huge, the beds were comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, the AC was nice and cold and we loved the pools (we were down by the beach) - Overall the hotel was quiet and relaxing - we went at a particularly slow time of the year, so the quiet was just what we were looking for. If you want a place with night-life, though - this just isn't it - The service was amazing from everyone - the bell boys, front desk and especially the bar and restaurant. I appreciate (expect) really good service and tip well in return - this seemed to work out well. - I am surprised at other poor reviews on the quality of the food/drinks. I actually thought it was pretty good across the board. - There were a handful of vendors trying to sell you things, but it wasn't annoying and we actually took four vendors up on the things they were offering. Negatives: - The rooms are REALLY run down. We had clogged toilets, stuck sliding doors, clogged drains in the shower. We moved rooms after the first night as we just weren't willing to stick with the first one. As we were moving out (and in the daylight), I could see what looked like maybe damage on the wall that had been badly patched and painted. The floor tiles had broken edges here and there. Maintenance was quick, but this was really disappointing. - The WiFi in the center of the resort grounds was nice, strong and reliable. Unfortunately, there was no signal in the rooms and little-no cell reception either. Seems like this would be a relatively cheap and easy fix that would have a good impact on the experience of guests

Beautiful beach spot, but facilities desperately need improvement

I stayed here 20 years ago and loved it, but I was very disappointed to see how rundown the facilities are. Pros 1. Access to one of the most gorgeous beaches in Huatulco 2. Nicest staff! Antonio and Severino took excellent care of us, and Tomasina made us delicious breakfast. 3. Breakfast buffet was delicious. 4. Clean. Everything was spotless. 5. Beach front rooms with private pools. Cons 1. The facilities need improvement ASAP. We had to call maintenance five times to fix toilets, sliding doors, and bathtub drainage. The crew came right away, but it’s not my job to be the hotel’s quality control crew and alert them of all the things that are broken. 2. Hotel pool policies. Why is it ok for guests to blast their music and subject the rest of us to endure their music taste?
