The main restaurant served an excellent breakfast, the fresh fruit, juice, and omelet bar was excellent. The seaside restaurant was beautiful and excellent for dinner the two nights we dined there. I thought the evening meals served at the main restaurant, although not terrible, were a little lacking, both in the menu offered and quality. We really enjoyed everything else about our stay. The pool area is fantastic.

Should Have Been Better

We stayed at the Camino Real Zaashila 15 years ago for our honeymoon and it was wonderful. It's now missing the mark in several areas. Good customer service skills were lacking from the front desk staff at most times. Our general questions on things like water quality in the hotel were not answered truthfully... we were told to buy the bottled water, when in actuality, the water from the hotel tap is of good quality and drinkable without issue. The rooms have old, uncomfortable beds. Our room lock broke the 1st night there and we were told we had to move to another room without much help from the staff. And, the new room wasn't cleaned properly until the next day.

We had a great time at the camino. It's just the right size - not too big/crowded and not so small it has nothing to offer. The staff was friendly and the food was amazing. I just wish the wifi was free.

We have been at this hotel several times and loved it, however, we are older now and with health difficulties walking up and down the stairs was rough. The meals were not up to par as previous years. The menus never change, no Authentic Mexican cusine, the drinks were very weak, at times seemed like there was NO alcohol in them. We were not informed about the mini bar being part of the All Inclusive and the Bottled Water in the room as part of the deal. On our previous visits there was never a Convention group or if there were we were never bothered by the loudness of the people. There was so much loud music till 4 in the morning on two of the days. That is uncalled for really at any hotel. With that exception I would not recommend this hotel to people of our ages. Too many stairs and we are not up to it. We did enjoy the week of beautiful weather and the hotel in general. Thank you.

We were very disappointed that the restaurants were not available at times due to a convention that was taking place there. I would not stay anywhere in the future when the hotel has a convention going on. The convention was loud and the people were drunk and rude. But we do enjoy the hotel normally and have stayed there often. apple is great

Very nice hotel on a private beach. It does help if you speak Spanish for this hotel. We were able to make our wants known with the help of Isasic and Enrique from the hotel. Room service was great and always on time, very good selection on the menu. Great service at the beach as we had meet Enrique at dinner the first night. He watched for us and help greatly. The room had a great balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The rooms were cleaned daily and very good service. If you are expecting man things to do this is not the hotel, it is very relaxing and has the feel of Mexico. The message that we had was great and relaxing. It is just 68 pesos into town for shopping. This destination feels very safe as it was 2 women traveling for a getaway for sun and relation

This hotel is perfect if you like peace and quiet, which is exactly what I was looking for in a vacation. No annoying music at the pool, no intrusions from an activity staff urging you to limbo or do water aerobics. Uncrowded and a real hidden gem.

Deelightful Stay

Our family, five adults and two little ones enjoyed a fabulous stay at Camino Real on our Apple vacation. Plane and transportation were quick and easy. Only snafue was not being able to get our assigned seats earlier.. It caused a lot of stress not having family together. We understand you are working on that. Only other suggestion was to ask Camino Real to bring back the childrens menu. It became difficult to get lunch and dinner for them with only adult menu. Staff of hotel and Apple could not have been more friendly and family oriented.

Quick observations re recent stay at Camino Real Zaashila in Huatulco

We have stayed at Zaashila many times. Because the occupancy rate was so low the week of April 14th they closed the beach bar some days and also the Chez Binni dining room. This was disappointing and would make us question another stay at Zaashila. We also noticed the lounge cushions around the pool and room balcony were not being cared for - they were often covered with bird poop. Maintenance seems to have slipped the last couple of years - too bad as it's a beautiful facility. regards, Ann K Peterson

Pleasant Surprise!

We stayed a few days during the easter week in the Camino Real and we were pleasantly surprised. We were expecting big crowds and lines but we found a friendly hotel, balancing well it’s capacity with their possibilities. The pool is wonderful, and the beach has a life guard on duty. Food is pretty good and fresh. I did not give them 5 stars because the hotel needs some updating, the rooms are comfortable but need updating, as well as the pool/beach chairs and lounges. The personnel were very nice and accommodating specially the guys at the pool restaurant, did not stop running around!

Quiet, scenic and great snorkeling

Our first visit to Huatulco. Although the weather reached up to 31 degrees Celsius, it was neither as humid nor as scorching as the Rivera Maya area and quiet pleasant. The resort was about 20 minutes away by taxi from the airport in one of the many beautiful bays. The resort is different from the usual AI type resorts in many ways. There's only a buffet in the morning and some select evenings, the rest of the days its a-la carte and one has to sign for everything, drinks and meals. The food was pretty good, especially the large and tasty prawns. The infrastructure was pretty bad and the other wise friendly staff speak little English so often only the most basic communication is possible. Rooms were nice and clean with superb views. In general the average tourists were older and quiet, which suited us fine, and there was none of the partying around the pool which is so common at other all inclusive resorts in other areas of Mexico. I always enjoy doing some birding but compared to prior Mexico trips was disappointed in that there were relatively few numbers of birds seen around the resort. Nevertheless, turkey vultures and black vultures, pelicans and frigate birds soar high up and kiskadee type birds, oriole (only saw 1) and swallows frequent the resort. To make up for the lack of birding, if the water is calm there is excellent snorkeling right from the resort beach. At one point I came upon a solid wall of 500-1000 Yellow-tail surgeon fish, and also saw puffer fish, Moorish Idol and needle fish and swarms of thousands of tiny little fish that literally formed dense clouds. There were at least 30 types of different tropical fish just around the rocks of the headlands enclosing the resort bay. Very little coral though. We took two day trips from the resort, one was bay tour to the national park, the other the eco tour to the crocodile mangroves. Both were pretty good, with excellent guides and well worth the price.

Great stay at a relaxing resort.

My wife and I went to Camino Real for 7 days we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the resort over all. I will post a pro's, con's and procon's list that we felt will be helpful for others. Pro's; - awesome resort beautiful architecture - service was top notch, we waited for nothing and always had drinks and food brought to us. Special mention to Antonio, Juan Carlos. - housekeeping were amazing and attentive, our last night we were given a bird made out of towels with flowers on it, a super nice touch\ - our room was always very clean - we went from April 12-19 and the resort was very quiet - beach palapas were plentiful and we never had to save one there were always lots free - pool was nice and big and was not busy at all - all the staff was super friendly - the grounds were top notch, and the workers do a great job at keeping it beautiful Procon's; (neutral) - the food for the resort was not very diverse and to be honest was kinda boring as far as flavor goes. The food was not bad but not good at the same time - the beach sand was more coarse than I expected but not really something that bothered me - the ocean was great, however some days there were some really big waves coming into the beach, I personally liked playing in those waves but some may not like that Con's; - the biggest issue we had was all the birds flying and eating right out of the lunch restaurant. They would be standing in the fresh fruit bowls and other food which seriously disgusted me, I personally just stuck to the hot covered food. The staff are very diligent in TRYING to scare the birds away but it was a losing battle. They have some lines trying to deter the birds from coming in but they just come in between the lines and have some food. They could eliminate this issue if they used 1" square netting in place of the vertical lines they have now (see pic) Overall, we will absolutely be going back and stay at this beautiful resort.

I absolutely loved the architecture of this place - so out of the ordinary compared to other resorts. The grounds were meticulous and the staff were constantly attending it. The rooms were sparse and not in the best shape but clean nevertheless. In any case, there was no reason to hole up in your room when you're beckoned by the large, clean pool and the beautiful private beach. The pool shack with their delicious margaritas and snacks were also a draw to stay outside. The staff there were so attentive and fantastic. Overall, the location is great; felt safe walking off the grounds and exploring. The gym was ok; small but with enough equipment.

This hotel can be very boring food wise

Only two restaurants and the same menus all week no themes at all. We wanted to exchange a 50 dollars us into one dollar bills for tipping and they would only give us pesos their exchange rate was 17 pesos for one us dollar while in town the rate was 18.5 no wonder they wouldn't give you american dollars they kept them for themselves. At easter the Mexican people have 2 weeks off. The resort was filled with kids. We came here after reading how quiet it was, not so much, screaming kids running and fighting and having fun like kids do. The resort its self is beautiful and well maintained the rooms could use some updating but you don't come here to spend a lot of time in your room. I think if they had more theme nights at the restaurants it would break up the monotony of the food. If your all inclusive you have to sign for everything and if you forget they chase you down. I found many times that what we ordered was not always what we were signing for. Just go with wrist bands for all inclusive forget about the signing or go one way or the other two systems just don't work and can be very irritating
