Best of Both Worlds: Perfect Hotel for Business and Leisure

This was my 3rd business trip to Nassau in the last year, and this is my favorite hotel. If you want all the amenities of a business hotel, plus leisure at your fingertips if you only have a few hours free, this is your best bet. I had previously stayed in isolated resort hotels full of vacationers. But this hotel is for both business and leisure. You don't see the crowds of partiers you might in other Nassau hotels. But you do get an amazing beach, beautiful pool, and easy walk to the downtown shopping and dining. The room I had was large, comfortable and had a great view of the harbor. The breakfast buffet was so generous and tasty that even a delayed flight home didn't bother me since I was full all day! More>

Great for Business Travelers

The British Colonial Hilton is good for business travelers. The end. Really, there's not much more to say . . . but I'll give it a go. :-) Location - Perfect, central location. Unless you wish to travel to the far flung ends of the island, this location is within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and office buildings. This trip, location was my priority. Therefore, this hotel suited me just fine. Rooms and Common Areas - The hotel decor and ambiance is your standard large chain lobby set-up. The aesthetic is very traditional and architecture styling is British Colonial - as the name suggests. The dining and lounge area towards the rear of the lobby are more modern. The rooms are old but generally clean. The shower could definitely use a good mold / mildew cleaning. Aside from room doors opening and closing, I did not hear any noise. The rooms are well isolated from noises in the common areas. Food - The food ranges from average to very good. I did, however, enjoy one of the best hot dogs I've ever consumed - to the tune of $14 plus gratuity and VAT. That tees up the segueway to my next point. The food here is very expensive. Fortunately, there are lots of other choices nearby. Service - Service here is good, sometimes great. In fairness, I visited during a slow period. Maybe everyone is taking a well deserved break between peak periods. I will provide a thumbs up to Leonardo (my room service attendant) for being exceptionally nice and hauling a 15+ pound food warmer in one hand, balancing a tray of juice in his other hand, while going up and down stairs. Now, that's commitment. Beach - Hey, it's Nassau - the beach is always beautiful. However, the swim area is very restricted due to the proximity of the cruise ships. Those behemoths sail right in front of the Hilton. It's quite interesting to witness cruise ships reversing out of port and turning around within a relatively tight space to head back out to sea. If you need reliable lodging within close proximity to downtown Nassau, this is not a bad choice. It aligns with the overall Hilton brand with respect to quality, service, and aesthetic. Happy travels! More>

A good stay

The location is good for main streets, shopping, restaurants etc. The beach area is good though next to major construction of next door building . It looks straight towards the cruisers which park up to six at once. A LOT of cruise passengers disembark. A good pool and outdoor facilities. Clean throughout and very comfortable bed. Room was fine, good wi fi on 6th floor. The Aqua restaurant is fine for breakfast food but let down by terrible service and non attentive staff, management input needed there ! More>

Great location to relax

I came to Nassau to unplug from the hectic pace of life and relax for a week. My limited research brought me to the British Colonial Hilton and I was not disappointed. I stayed in a suite on the executive floor facing the harbor and highly recommend the experience. The private beach is serene and peaceful. I felt I was on my own private beach. Great location if you want to get out and explore also. Every employee was extremely friendly. The crew at the poolside bar were great and I would especially like to note that Inez in housekeeping was truly amazing, always greeting me by name with a smile whenever we crossed paths. No real negatives- food and beverages can get expensive if you spend most of your time at the hotel, but plenty of other options easily in walking distance. All in all, a great location for those looking for a quiet retreat and for those in town for business.I would definitely stay here again. More>
