Visited the British Colonial Hilton in late March, 2017. My initial impression when I came into the hotel was that it was a very nice lobby with pleasant staff. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of work to be done. The rooms are nice overall, but they need a good deep cleaning. See photo of shower head! The lobby bar is large and nice with trendy sofas, but the service is quite possibly the SLOWEST I have ever experienced. As I type this, it is 4:30 pm and I've been sitting at the bar for 20 minutes waiting on a bar tender to show up...WTF. ***Update - bartender just showed up and after looking for a bottle opener for ten minutes she couldn't find one. I then tried to order a draft beer and the keg was tapped. I have subsequently had to leave the hotel and go elsewhere for a beer. My wife and I went to Dunkin Donuts across the street from the hotel one morning for an ice coffee because the hotel didn't have any. When we came back to the hotel, we were told we couldn't go to the beach or pool area because you couldn't bring in outside food or beverages to those areas, even though we were paying guests at the hotel. I get the hotel wants to make money from us buying food and drinks there, but if you don't sell iced coffee you should be okay with me purchasing it across the street. Both my wife and I found Tina to be very friendly when she waited on us and we chatted about the Bahamas. Tina gets two thumbs UP! Overall, this hotel has huge upside potential, but needs a ton of work. Pros: -Nice pool and beach area with plenty of chairs. -main bar in lobby level is spacious with nice couches. -comfortable beds with mounted flat screen televisions Cons: -Staff is incredibly SLOW -because gratuity is included in food/beverage (15% automatic) staff is NOT attentive. -Not allowed to bring off site food/beverages into beach or pool area because they just want to up sell theirs. -hotel needs a good deep cleaning. -pay attention to charges when you check out, there is literally a fee for everything you can think of, including maid service daily. Staff just seems to be extremely lazy and not very attentive. Most likely because they are not trying to get a good tip...

Day Pass from Cruise

When looking for a beach excursion in Nassau from our cruise yesterday our daughter-in-law remembered seeing the Hilton offering day passes for cruise guests. It was a 10 minute walk from the port and it was perfect! For $65 pp and $32 for children it was well worth every penny. You get full access to the grounds, beach, pool bar/restaurants and bathrooms! Very clean and there were other cruisers there. Included in your $65 is a $40 food/drink credit so really you are paying $25 if you have a couple drinks and eat there! Omar was our waiter on the beach and poolside and he was very attentive and pleasant!

This property has great potential. The location is awesome. The back of the hotel is the best part,( garden, hammocks, pool, beach, and killer views of the cruise ships in port. The staff was very friendly and full of smiles. The property needs a lot of TLC! Needs better maintenance and up keep and they need to remodel the bathrooms in the rooms and replace room furniture. It just looks used and abused. I recommend it but hope they are budgeting some property improvements. Shawn

The staff at this hotel make it worth while to stay! They made us feel at home and like a part of the family/country. The rooms and restaurant menu need to be updated but talking to the management they would like to make changes and it sounds like they are planning to make updates. The beach we loved and as it was sand and we heard from others that they stayed at Atlantis and the beaches there are all coral so they are not of much use. The location is downtown near the cruise port and you can see the ships come and go.

There on business. Great hotel. Local area has plenty to do. Concierge is a must. They will steer you to your next daily adventure. Every day was something new. The small beach is great. They have the most comfortable hammocks ever.
