TripAdvisor Traveller Reviews
Very nice overnighter

I stayed in the Hilton on June 17th for a single night following a week long liveaboard dive trip and it looks like I lucked out from reading other reviews as at least my AC worked well and kept my room a comfortable 67 degrees. I booked in March when they had a points sale and was upgraded from city to ocean view so it was an overall great value for me. The property itself is very nice compared to many of the other hotels on New Providence but not as nice as some on Paradise Island. The property is large and open with plenty of room to move around, very nice little beach and pool area. Inside the public areas of the hotel were clean with a nice decor. The location next to the straw market is and many local shops is great. I showed up early at noon and was given an access card to the pool and gym area and able to check my bags in while they were getting my room ready. I was able to access my room by 2pm even though check in is officially 4pm. They had said they would deliver my bags to my room, but in the end I had to get them from the front desk. My room was smaller than expected but very nice and clean superficially although a little dirty in corners and under the bed. Bed was comfortable and pretty much the same as every other Hilton bed I have slept on with the same color palate, mattress, sheets, pillows, etc. Bathroom was nice with a separate shower and tub, water pressure was a little low but adequate. I attempted to fill the tub to soak my dive gear but the flow was so slow I only had 3 inches of water in it after 15 minutes. I slept great with no noted noise from the surrounding rooms. The wifi in the public areas of the hotel was painstakingly slow and frequently would drop connection, but in my room it was fast and had no issues. A big complaint would be the elevators, they use a key card system to let you use them, but 3/4 of the time they don't scan or reject your card and you have to do it over and over again until it works. This was a complaint of everyone else that I used an elevator with as well including the staff. They are small and slow and not nearly enough of them and several times I had to wait through a few cycles of crowds to get where I was going both up and down. There are several restaurants/bars on the property but I only ate breakfast at Aqua on the morning I left. The continental breakfast at Aqua was very nice compared to many I have gotten at other Hilton properties with plenty of food and a good selection. Otherwise I ate outside of the hotel as it is right next to where the cruise ships dock so restaurants abound. Be warned though that as soon as the ships leave dock the local area can into a ghost town at night leaving your options limited. When I checked out the next morning I was surprised to find that they were trying to charge me for the room despite booking with points. It was supposedly fixed when I left but when I got back to the States I found they charged my credit card for a full night stay. I contacted the Hilton help line and they quickly credited the amount back to my card. More>

Family visit to the Bahamas. We planned this trip for my sons 18th birthday and the location was perfect. Walking distance to all restaruant amd shopping. I believe it the only beach front hotel. The beach was very clean. The pool staff was so friendly and helpful. We arrived early and were given a key to the gym to shower to change and freshen up. The lounge had nice entertainment and was a comfortable nice place to relax in. My only disappointment was that we couldn't upgrade because all the suites were not available due to an air conditioning outage on the upper floors so we were stuck with a view of the street on the second floor with a Palm tree in front of ten window/ More>

My girlfriend and I and our two 14 year old daughters took a weekend cruise on Carnival and paid $60 per person to veg out at British Colonial for our day excursion in Nassau. We had a personalized waiter that provided us whatever we wanted all day. We had plenty of seating options, a great pool and an almost exclusive beach. We had snorkel gear and a kayak to explore with. Extremely relaxing day! Great getaway when you want to do nothing but enjoy the view and relax! More>

Beautiful hotel but A/C was broken and poorly handled

The hotel itself is beautiful and the service was top notch. However, the experience was greatly diminished because the air conditioning was broken in the entire hotel. They gave us a room with 1 tiny window. We asked to be relocated to another hotel after 2 nights because it was unbearably hot and humid (could not sleep). The staff took over 4 hours to figure out how to relocate us to the Breezes resort. The process was not smooth or short. The Breezes hotel was horrible - full of young people, smelly, dirty. It was not nearly the same quality as the Hilton, and we were terribly disappointed. Honestly, the hotel should have been closed until the air conditioning could have been fixed, and those having to be relocated to the dirty Breezes should have been reimbursed some amount of money. The pool area was beautiful and the private beach was small, but pretty. The hotel was in a terrific location - walking distance to the downtown with shops and restaurants. More>

The kitchen was closed for lunch every day. We were forced to eat at the pool. No sit down or menu service for dinner. The pool was also closed early at 5:00 P.M. on our first day. This was after a long day of trasvel. More>
