A bit surprising...

We picked the Hilton for our place to stay because of the "Hilton" reputation for service. The location is good and most of the staff is very friendly. The service staff at the pool and the pool bar were far from friendly and never once, came and asked us if we needed anything. I had to go to the bar each time and wait. The room was a lot smaller than we expected, but it was accommodating and comfortable. The place could use a major updating...especially the guestroom baths. All-in-all...an "OK" place. More>

From the moment we arrived at the British Colonial Hilton, Nassau we were greeted to smiling, friendly and approachable staff. It was instantly a place I felt as a young girl comfortable and safe. The private pool and beach is stunning with bar staff attending to your every want and need, a perfect place to relax and take in the surroundings. Over the course of the week, every time we walked in or out of the hotel the door staff opened the doors for us EVERY TIME. Additionally the concierge assisted us and recommended some amazing tours and excursions to experience whilst in the Bahamas, we waited no longer than 10 seconds before someone helped us if we had any queries throughout the stay. Every evening we came back to a beautifully presented room (and we weren't the tidiest of guests) no question was too much bother. The taxi rank outside the hotel was also of great help as there was no need to wait and you are guaranteed a friendly driver who are all helpful in places to go and visit. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel, every guest is treated with the highest of standards and I will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. More>

One of the best places to be in. Once we reached Nassau from the port we reached the hotel. What a welcome the rooms were ready and given you us immediatly. The rooms are simply superb. The breakfast spread is fantastic. The beach has. A lot of water sports and we really enjoyed our stay. More>

Had high hopes but in need of renovations

Just came back from a wonderful stay in Nassau and stayed 2 nights at the British Colonial Hilton. I had very high expectations for this property but ultimately I was let down due to the reasons I will list. But first, lets start with the good things: - Great location, right in the middle of downtown Nassau (20 minutes from Airport and walking distance to cruise ships/restaurants/activities) - Beach with crystal clear water - Hotel lobby is beautiful - Great beach view (at least from one of our windows, the others was of construction next door) - Executive lounge (if you get access, you'll have free continental breakfast, snacks and happy hour with free drinks) As a Hilton Diamond member, we were upgraded to one of their top suites which we really appreciated. Unfortunately after seeing the state of the room, it was evident it was once a nice property but needed a lot of work. I have included several pictures of the things I have outlined. - The bathroom was borderline disgusting with mold, broken tiles, old and mildew grouting, broken clothes hanger, clogged shower head due to buildup, etc. - Drink/food service at the beach was terrible. We were only approached 3 times in a 4 hour period. My wife had to get up twice for refills, then we waited half an hour for our check which never came. - Multiple carpet damage/stains throughout property including right in front of our room. - Pillow/bedding had an unpleasant odor - Electrical issues (burnt bulbs in room, noisy florescent bulbs, loose wiring on walls) Perhaps worst of all was the automatic A/C shut off. There was a motion sensor in the living room area of the suite, therefore if you're in bed at night, the A/C shuts off in just 15 minutes, never reaching your desired temperature. It's been an excruciatingly hot summer, so sleeping without A/C was highly uncomfortable. I'm all about the conservation of electricity, but this was excessive and unnecessary. The suite we were in was for several hundred dollars a night and I do not feel like it was reflected. Until major renovations happen at this property, unfortunately I can't recommend it for the value. If one of the top suites we stayed at is indicative of the rest of the rooms, then beware. More>

Resort for a Day while on Cruise

Just a brief 15 minute walk from the cruise dock. We paid $65 per person to use the private beach & pool facilities. This included a $40 food and beverage voucher. While the menu was limited & pricey ($19 for a hamburger & small cup of pasta salad with home fries), the alcoholic drinks were $10-$12 each & sodas were $3.50. They provided towels, lounge chairs, and a beautiful view. We even got in a game of beach volleyball. I would recommend and would visit again! More>
