The resort we stayed at was bought and sold twice in the 7 days that we were there. Our "King" size bed was actually two twin size beds pushed together. The resort we stayed at was bought and sold twice in the 7 days that we were there. Our "King" size bed was actually two twin size beds pushed together. We had to call down almost everyday for clean towels or to get someone to clean our room even though we left the door hanger on the outside requesting maid service. The majority of the staff was aloof and you could tell that they were not happy with the changes taking place. Of course, this does not include all of the staff. Once the resort was bought by Grand Lido, the spa employees and the employees that worked for the company providing Catamaran tours and snorkeling began actively walking the beaches and confronting people while they were laying out to try and get them to buy spa services or excursions. With how many civilians that are already on the beach peddling there wears, I didn't like being constantly bothered by employees of my all inclusive resort trying to sell me things. When asked about the Rainy Day Voucher, it rained 3 out of 7 days of our trip the front desk staff seemed very confused. After waiting for 15 minutes for them to try and find someone who know what I was talking about I left and resumed my vacation. When we booked this vacation Breezes they boasted unlimited "Premium" brand liquors. Well obviously the owner's of Breezes were aware that they would be selling the resort soon so they failed to re-stock their bars with any premium brand liquors. They were serving a well vodka and Jim Beam as their premium liquors. Once Grand Lido has purchased the resort the premium liquors were brought in including, Stolichnaya Vodka, Crown Royal, Canadian Club, etc. Even though half of our vacation was spent drinking well liquors we were excited once the premiums were delivered. Obviously, my trip was unique because of the circumstances with the ownership of the resort. Lastly, the clothing optional beach is poorly maintained. When coming out of the water you must literally climb a hill because this side of the beach is not graded or raked like to regular beach on this resort was. The floats that were tied down in the water were broken and covered in algae from poor upkeep. All of the resorts around us offered personal floats for use in the water. I saw a total of 2 Breezes personal floats that were in HORRIBLE shape, basically pieces of foam barely hanging together. I'm not sure how the resort will be once the Grand Lido has time to change things, but I was not impressed with Breezes.

Breezes Super Club is not a 5* resort. It is in need of so much updating. When we arrived, we didn't have any bath towels, safe was locked, and phone didn't work. We arrived on Friday, phone was temporarily fixed,(didn't work after 10 min.) and never fixed until Thursday(day before we left). Mo .. More>

We arrived on Friday, phone was temporarily fixed,(didn't work after 10 min.) and never fixed until Thursday(day before we left). Most days, we didn't get bath towels, even after asking again, some days no wash cloths or hand towels! Beach was nice, but needed cleaning. Bathrooms need updating and remove those awful tubs. You need to climb up 2 steps and then take a very long step down into the tub, or go backwards, to use the shower. Those 2 steps are very slippery when you have to pull yourself up out of the tub again, and the floor is slippery too. Usually we didn't have a bath mat for the floor. Food was okay, but not a lot of variety from day to day. We've been at other resorts in Negril, that meet the ratings, but this one certainly does not. The sand fleas were biting all day long, on or off the beach and the mosquitos were in our room at night. We had two mosquito sprays and neither helped much. Would not recommend this resort to anyone!

Although the resort facilities are dated, the staff more than makes up for it through their friendliness and desire to be a positive part of your trip experience! Overall my stay at he hotel was great but the housekeeping was awful. My hotel room was not clean upon arrival and each day my roommate and I had to contact housekeeping for wash clothes, face clothes and towels. The rooms are in need of renovations and/or repairs. The tiles in the rooms are loose, the patio doors needs to be replaced and the entry into the tub needs to be updated and sturdy. We did upgrade to a one bedroom, first floor with room service. It was worth it. Our room was clean and basic. The mini fridge was restocked daily. The beach is beautiful. The water is great. So calm and clear. We did take advantage of the snorkeling that they offered and had someone take us to a little island to eat fresh lobster on the beach. Overall I think it was a great place to stay for the price. Remember it is all about what you make it out to be. Just sit back relax and enjoy the beautiful beach. Remember you are in Jamaica, no worries mon!

I know that the property is being sold currently, so that may have something to do with the lack of maintenance. Although, it obviously hasn't been maintained for years. Rooms were clean, despite the updating needed. We did have to switch rooms because our shower did not work. If you are looking for a luxurious resort, this is not it. I feel for the price we paid, it should have been much, much nicer. I would not return unless the entire property was renovated and updated.

I must say the overall appearance of the hotel was good but the service was terrible. The staff was very rude and not helpful at all. I'm originally from Jamaica and I'm pretty sure they were not aware of this if so the would have re frame from gossiping about myself and other hotel guest. In the morning the maids cleaning the room would talk very loudly to each other mind you this started about 7am. Very disappointed in the service!

I wrote a review before we went last year, in part because I just love the resort and wanted to rave about it before we went. This is coming a little late, seeing that we went Dec.1st thru Dec 7th of 2012, which was Repeaters' Week. This was my 10th visit to this particular resort. I started going in 1994, twice that year, up through 2000. I do have experience with some renovations, change in management from SuperClubs, and some years when other reviews questioned the resort. I will say I loved it then, and still do through my last visit. There is another management change, so I want to see how I am treated/received by the new management. I started going to the resort again in Oct of 2010. My girlfriend was curious to see the resort since I had mentioned on numerous occasions, what a dream vacation Grand Lido/Breezes Negril was to me. How great the food tasted, and its presentation....how the lambchops kept your mouth watering...or how the staff treated you, no matter how many things you wanted, or how many times you asked. So I took her. She had seen a picture I'd shown her 12 years ago, of a swan (made of towel) that one of the maid staff would leave me everyday. The second day we were there, she came back to the room to find that very same piece of art on our bed, Though they don't do that everyday anymore, just a mention to Rose(our housekeeper) that it was special to me, was enough to have it done everyday, so that my girfriend could enjoy the spectacle and lavishment it created for/in her. Needless to say, the next trip was in the works to visit again. She has said that she wants it to be a yearly adventure to the Grand Resort & Spa. We did go back..it was spectacular. Repeaters' Week gives you a sense of family and belonging. Yes, being pampered is fun for a short time. Having what you want when you want it is something that is hard to find. Having your name called when you walk in the reception area that first day back "home" is exhilarating....and many other nice touches! That is what you have gotten at this resort...for yearssssssssss. We hope it stays that way. We do look forward to going "home" again. Cordell andTina

The resort is clean and well maintained. It is going under minor renovations at this time. The room was recently painted and new toilet was installed. Hot water was an issue, was hot one night the rest of the week warm at best. Showers still need to be upgraded but still functional. Air conditioning, bed and room in general all good. Food for breakfast,lunch and dinner had a good variety and very good. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Beach towels need to be found before 10am, some guests were taking 2 or more towels each. The towel card the give you is useless since there are towel bins around the resort where you can take as many as you want. The beach and the bay are beautiful,the water is clear and warm. The band and entertainment in the evening was very good. The only issues I had was the hot water and check out. They cancel your room key activation early in the morning on the day of check out. So if you leave your room to go to breakfast before checking out and go back to your room your key will not work, You have to go to the main desk to reactivate your key so you can get your belongings and then go back to the desk to check out.

We were pleasantly surprised for our week long stay at the Grand Lido, formerly a Breeezes location, now owned by Sunwing. We had read up on the resort on here not sure what to expect with the change in management, but was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was easy, they gave us a few rooms to look at to see if we wanted ground floor or second floor. We chose a second floor room in the oceanfront cove area since we didn't wanna be seeing naked people (clothing optional area) walking past our patio doors all the time, and the view was better out to the ocean. someone had also mentioned that the crabs like to wander around at night and might come join you in bed if you don't close those doors. we had a few ants, delt with by using a little bug spray, nothing else though unless you leave all the windows open, but sine it was hot, we had our AC on. The bathroom has this sort of half way setup with the tub and shower, the tub not being big enough for me to sit in, maybe squat, and the shower head is great for anyone under 5' 6", anyone taller will need to duck down. but the AC worked, and we had hot water, i was happy. Food, yes, we were definitely impressed, they have a japanese, italian, french, jamaican and regular (called grand cafe) restaurant on the resort, plus a buffet in the main area for breakfast and lunch. we didn't get round to doing the jamaican or grand cafe, but the others were great. we liked the japanese, italian and french so much we went to them all twice. the buffet in the morning and lunch has a fantastic spread, so much to choose from, and plenty of food available. Entertainment, this is endless, we didn't get to do everything we wanted, there was just so much to do. everyday they post up in the main lobby a whiteboard with what's going on throughout the day. we did tennis in the morning before breakfast, glass bottom boat and snorkelling after breakfast or afternoon. paint a rock while you are there and leave your mark. they'll post up what bands are playing on what nights. mondays is buffet on the beach, some nights you enjoy the main area for dinner and dancing. as for off resort entertainment, ricks cafe booze and cruise is awesome, you take the catamaran out to ricks place where they do cliff diving and you can enjoy a drink and restaurant. on the way they will stop for snorkelling, so bring bread to feed the fish. they also stop near a cave that a pirates movie was shot at so you can swim in one and out another, then you head to ricks...we loved watching people jump of the cliff and the louder the slap, the funnier it got, there is a 30-40ft platform that anyone can jump off of. Dunn's river is another one, but it's a heck of a drive, then a catamaran, climb the falls, back on the catamaran and then the long drive back, it's expensive, and you really need to have your heart set on climbing the falls to make the trip. the horse riding was great, we had the baby horses's following us too, you ride a beach, get to go in the water, the guide will use your camera to take pics, it was really neat. Service, well, have patience, they mean well, you may need to ask for things a few times, but they will get it to you, we call it "jamaican time". you may have read some interesting reviews about beach towels, when you arrive, you get a card, you go to the scuba shop, they give you your towels. if you want fresh beach towels, go back to the scuba shop, you can exchange them for fresh ones. as for running out, they wash these things off site, so you need to go over before noon to exchange for fresh ones. the guy that hands them out, he's not there after 5pm, and later in the afternoon they can run low. we also found out that very few people use the fitness gym, and they have plenty of beach towels in there too. The staff are great, very polite and helpful. tour guides and drivers are a hoot. however, walking on the beach there are area's where the locals setup shop and wanna sell you their wares, and they will ask you endlessly to "step into their office/shop". they will always wanna make a sale and the smaller items they will sell at 5 times their value and larger items at 2-3 times their value. shot glasses can be had at "Times Square" for $1 each, necklaces at $4. They will tell you anything they think you want to hear to make the sale, i found it hilarious, but only offer what you think something is worth. we got tonnes of souvenirs and felt that we got a fair deal, wish we had picked up a few more things. we ventured out into town and never once felt uneasy or unsafe, so many friends were warning us to stay on the resort, this is not true, enjoy yourself, make the most of it. Depending on what you want out of a resort, the grand lido has a fantastic locale, great beach, good food, and a pleasant relaxing atmosphere. it is a 210 room resort that was about 50% occupancy when we went in mid may 2013, which means no lineups or waiting for anything, and sometimes having stuff all to ourselves. we enjoyed the peace and quiet. being a smaller resort, you don't have to walk much to get to everything. Pros: smaller much more personable resort good food fantastic location, great beach lots of on and off resort activities friendly staff adults only, so no kids running around if you don't want the screaming new gift shop opened up beginning of may new changes coming due to sunwing taking over, some already there hot water and AC work perfectly Cons: dated rooms, old furniture, it shows in design and wear and tear the shower nozel comes out the wall at 5'6" height service runs on jamaican time and may require a few reminders to front desk for the odd thing. The resort is what you make of it, we really enjoyed our time there as it was perfect for what we were looking for, small, personable and lots of variety, no lineups for anything. i wish i could post some pics, but im still sorting through the thousands that i took... Tips: bring a waterproof camera, snorkelling and other water activities calamine for bug bites, aloe vera for sunburn, spray and cream sunblock large tumbler mug for holding more beer and drink than the regular tiny plastic cups they will give you bring your own snorkelling gear if you can, so many water things to do, you don't have to keep hunting for gear. water shoes, you will need these for dunn river if you go other wise you have to buy or rent, you will use them for lots of other activities too. grab bread from breakfast/lunch to feed fish and stuff when you snorkel or just chill at the pier and feed them. grab beach towels from fitness room if you forget to exchange bring a small tripod for your camera if you wanna take pictures with your partner. the sunset pics are awesome.

This was the second time that my wife and I stayed at this resort and we loved it just as much as last year. We were there from May 8th until May 14th. Perfect weather the whole week and the most beautiful beach in Negril. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated and the resort does need some fixing up. The room itself was very clean and the mattrees was very comfortable. We thought the food was excellent. We ate at all of the restaurants and had good meals everywhere. The French restaurant has more of an international menu and the decor is 1970's disco, but the food and the service were very good. The pools are very small, but we always wonder who would want to go to the pool with a stunning beach and the clear blue ocean to swim in. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If we were short on towels or any other supplies, we just politely asked and got what we needed. We will definitley be going back next year and look forward to seeing what changes have been made.
