Very minor issues with this place. Upon arrival, we were totally exhausted from travel and having been up the night before, drove 20 minutes in a damaged rental car and were welcomed by the super nice staff at Bolongo. They gave us a complimentary drink, and let my husband finish the football game he was watching at the bar before touring us to our room. The rooms have great views and you walk out directly to the beach. The biggest issue we had was that the bed was unbelievably uncomfortable, and we had to sleep sideways to keep from having back problems. I also unfortunately had work to do on our trip and had the WORST time getting on the wi-fi, the woman working nights at the desk didn't seem to care or understand how wi-fi works, so I had to use the hot spot wi-fi from my phone. Overall though it was a nice resort, and we would stay here again.

We stayed at Bolongo Bay in late Sept. 2018. It was a return trip for the anniversary of our honeymoon 25 years ago. The same friendly family runs it and is providing the level of service only available at an independent family run resort. The family and the staff seem to deeply care about the property and the experience of their guests. I hope to be back sooner than 25 years this time.

We stayed at Bolongo Bay from Sept. 9 - 13, 2018 and had an amazing stay. It's the right combination of the things that matter on a vacation. Really nice people - management, front desk, Iggies, the gift shop, the beach shack and the catamaran crew. Everyone seemed genuinely concerned that we were comfortable and got what we paid for. We did. ROOMS - we booked the ocean view, all inclusive. The room was dated but clean with very cold air. The view from the balcony was breath taking. The view from simply pulling back the curtains was just as lovely for the moments we wanted to enjoy the cool air conditioning and the views. The towels were a bit dingy but clean. If that bothers you, take note. Shower was small but the water pressure was good and the water hot. However, the beauty of the area draws you outside so the room is just for sleeping and showering. OVERALL RESORT - The small size actually made it better. It was cozy. The staff treated us like family and those views! We took advantage of the hammocks, the various seating areas, the pool and one of the beach toys (a circular water hammock that allowed us to lay in the bay water and just enjoy life). Everything was close and accessible. Even though most hotel gift shops are over-priced, it seems this one was pretty close to the prices in town. FOOD - We got the all inclusive and made it a point to have all meals and drinks, with the exception of one lunch, at the resort. In my opinion, the food was extremely good and well worth what we paid. It was fresh, prepared well, tasted wonderful and the portions were generous. Had we bought that quality of food elsewhere, we would have paid much more. We're not big drinkers but we had at least 2 cocktails each day. They were so good and sipping those drinks in that gorgeous setting - Ahhhhh. Activities - I think I fell a bit short on the activities. The resort offered so much but we didn't take full advantage. We had rented a car and planned some things on our own but we could have skipped renting a car and coordinated things through the resort. We did do the sunset cruise and that was amazing but we missed out on the turtle snorkel and some other activities. There seemed to always be taxis at the hotel too and the prices were posted. If in doubt, call ahead. LIVE ENTERTAINMENT- It was good for the atmosphere. BUGS - As all the other reviews state, there are bugs. We were covered in bites. Based on our experience and the other reviews, the bugs bite around dusk. I think we got our bites after we got out of the pool one evening. So, try to stay ahead of the bugs. Don't give them a window. Have a defense plan. LOL! Maybe as soon as you get out of the pool, towel off and apply bug spray before you lay out. Or, get the caribbean mosquito repellent bands from Amazon. I never tried them but when I go again I will. Even with the bugs, would I stay here again? Yes, yes and ummm, yes!

Worth it!

We stayed at Bolongo Bay in the off season, so things were slow paced, just the way a tropical vacation should be! As with the rest of the Virgin Islands, Bolingo Bay is still recovering from the hurricanes last year. We stayed ocean front second floor. The only reason we didn’t give it five stars is the our AC did not work at all, and although they offered us an alternative room, it lacked the view of the first room so we toughed it out. The Resturant was perfect beachside casual, the pool and amenities were exactly as advertised. The three best things were the view, the sea turtle snorkel sail ( on heavenly days sailboat, docked right outside our room), and the staff. Every single staff member from the front desk to the Resturant staff to the hotel maids were just lovely. We are a family with three kids ( 9 to 15) and my (70ish) Mom, and there was something for everyone. If you want a casual family beach experience, this is the place for you:)
