Hotel is very dated. The AC in the rooms is so noisey we couldn't sleep with it on. The ceiling fan was the same way. Bartenders were rude and acted like it was a problem to make us a drink. Will not return or recommend this resort to anyone. Very disappointed my vacation was not what I had expected.

Air conditioning inadequate. Concierge staff had to be told over and over and over before we got new rooms that were no better (our friends room was far worse). No compensation for our aggravation even offered. Beach was covered in seaweed. They need heavy equipment to remove it. Wait staff was awesome. All in all, maybe a 3.5 rating, thanks to wait staff at good food.

Upon arrival we had two rooms reserved, one room the air conditioner was working ok (not cold) the other was hot because the air conditioner was working at all. The ceiling fan in that same room also had a mind of it's own, worked when it wanted too. Out of a 4 night stay the air conditioner worked for 2 of those nights. The property itself was very spread out and there was a lot of walking to get from one vent to another, shuttles didn't run as frequently as they needed too. Mosquitos were a huge issue as the property had numerous swampy areas and even though the sprayed the mosquitos were bad. Overall we would not choose to return to this property.

Very nice hotel, spacious, but lots of walking from building to building if you struggle getting around. Lots of wildlife around, but very poor beach.

The beach has a nice facility but the beach it self is terrible. sea weed and rock make it hard to enjoy all the time. The place says no tipping but if you expect to get great service you better keep five or some ones in your pocket at all times. There is a large langage wall between english and the spanish. If you need the AC fixed say which we did 5 days asked for some one to fix it one time same on came out not english he said holding up fingers 10 minutes it tgood. the ac never did work and I called everyday and went to the desk twice and told our guide once. So if you get a room there and the ac does not work and it is 1124 get a new room.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. I would also return to this hotel. The only complaint that I heard anyone mention was that there wasn't a swim up bar, but I don't believe that is an issue because of the beverage carts, poolside bars, and servers that would bring you a drink right to the pool! The golf cart/tram service was nice in the evening to get us to and from the restaurant and bar. The Black and White Bar was so much fun every night after dinner. I especially loved the Michael Jackson tribute show.

Black mold in pool, wobbly & noisy ceiling fan, leaking air conditioner. The service was great, food was great, entertainment was great, but the place really needs updated. It should not have the rating it has on Apple.

I love to snorkel and when I looked at the beach I about cried. It is dark water that is very shallow. There are no fish to be seen. I was very disappointed. We spent our vacation mostly in the pool that was not very clean. There were 7 of us in our party and 6 of us ended up with diarrhea. The food was cold a lot of the time. We will not be going back to this resort ever.

This was a last minute booking for our 'special birthdays', We had a fabulous time and have lots of great memories. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, inside and out. Outside is a very natural and green habitat allowing a few species of animals to roam freely. At first we were slightly alarmed by the small animals wandering around but was assured they were completely harmless. I am normally quite frightened of animals in general but I can certainly confirm they were not threatening and did not hurt you at all. They just wandered in and out of the plants and did not bother us at all. They were really rather cute. The setting for all buildings was lovely; not just one large hotel building. There was plenty of choice for food including a la carte restaurants to accommodate all tastes and preferences. All staff were extremely helpful, pleasant and attentive. They remember you quickly and all your needs therefore building relationships. Great people and service, especially in the Festival restaurant; thank you so much to: Fernando UC, Santiago, Aaron, Ferneley, Luz and Donogi (apologies if we have missed anyone out), Staff in other areas were the same as well, reception and concierge and of course the 'Animation Team'. The Animation Team work very hard offering a variety of activities and are very personable. I enjoyed yoga on the beach in the morning with Eduardo. Christian, Luis and Eric were all good fun and really made our holiday! All staff went the extra mile to make our holiday very special. Overall we had the most fantastic time and are looking to book again next year.

On arrival the hotel was spotless the staff informative pleasant and helpful. I had read some previous reviews that mentioned animals being invasive and everywhere. There were plenty of Coatis Iguanas Deers and stunning birds. They were stunning and certainly NOT invasive, a lot of people were feeding the Coatis even though there were signs saying not too, so it's only to be expected that they would be more than friendly. All you need to remember there was originally a vast Rain Forrest along the coastline, the hotel is situated around lovely mangroves and the hotel is eco friendly trying to ensure they have a positive effect on the surrounding natural habitat. The grounds men are numerous and permanently working ensuring a safe environment for everyone. We loved our time there the food was great and lots of variety, and all the staff were more than helpful. Will definitely be going back

We just returned yesterday from another wonderful trip at the BlueBay. Weather was perfect. We were in building 5, ocean front. Loved watching sunrise every morning. Food was great. Favorite was Italian. Angel always remembers us and treats us special. French was our second favorite. Steak and French onion soup to die for. They had one pool closed for repairs. The other one was opened. They are doing a lot of construction in the area including removal of the wooden bridge near building 5 and pool. Can't wait until April when we return to see all the improvements. Thanks to Ruperto for making our breakfast and lunch special.

Awful

It took me 3 months just to be able to write a fair review. OK..I will start with the Pros.. The Staff. They really are the victims. They work very hard and went out of their way to make things as nice as humanly possible. Claudia in Concierge and the wait Staff at the steak house, specifically our waiter Romulo, who took the time everyday to make us feel special and brought us delicious drinks! Bringing me to the next Pro..drinks..all inclusive.. go into restaurants for drinks as the drinks at the pool and outside bars are watered down and taste like it. Food is ok depending on where you go. Some of the restaurants are really good; most are average. Nothing to write home about but still on the pro list. ok now the Con list... and I'm afraid it outweighs the pro list. The absolute worst thing about this place is that it smells like raw sewerage. It can't be healthy. I don't care what they say about being green. This isn't that!! It is beyond disgusting. I feel bad for the people that have to work here everyday. It's awful. Outside of the resort we heard cab drivers and local bus drivers calling the hotel brown bay and laughing when we said we were staying there. As far as the little squirrel monkey rat things that you will encounter all over the property I guess it is a matter of personal taste. I personally don't want to go on vacation and have these food scavenging creatures who are crawling out of the garbage pails come up to small children and have them eat from their hands (does this sound like a good idea people)? It made me cringe every time I watched a family have their toddlers feed these things a burger (wtf). But I guess that is a matter of personal choice and some people might see that as a pro... if you like that there are monkeys too...again..not a fan! The beaches were strewn with dead crabs and were not usable at all. There had been a storm a few. weeks prior to our visit so unsure if that was responsible for deterioration of beach but certainly didn't look like pictures! Overall...stay somewhere else...there are so many other choices there.
