Good Stay-BUT

I had a great time. The issue we had was with Apple not the hotel. The AMSTAR rep was to aggressive. They actually said, why come to Mexico if your not going to do excursions. You have to go. they would not give us our time to depart until 24 hours before we left. We had to go back on SAT because they told us we had to and had to listen to the lecture all over again and berated for just chilling at the hotel and enjoying ourselves. I may not book with Apple again because of this.

Beds were too hard, only a single desk chair in large room to sit on; there was room for a comfy chair or 2.

Discovered that December is their "cold" month and nights can be in the 40's. Rooms have no heat, We requested blankets and they provided what they had. Still, a couple of cold sleeping nights. Blue Bay also has an aggressive sales program where they offer "free" resort money for agreeing to sit thru a 90-minute sales presentation to buy membership access to their other resorts around the world. They are very agressive about getting you to attend on of these and very aggressive while you sit thru the presentation. I'd suggest you avoid attending. Just say "No" (repeatedly).

The only disappointment is the beach. I believe it suffered form the latest hurricanes and is in the process on being repaired. But tow polls that are open are very nice. Third pool is closed for renovation. Buffet food is very good, and the choice and quality of desserts is excellent. CHoice of furites is very good, too. The territory is well-maintained. WE were very pleased with kids club and their program as well.

When I arrived, I found that the dinner reservations were never made even though I was communicating via email all the accommodations prior to our arrival. When we checked in, the guy at the front desk was in a bad mood. The wifi wasn't working the first full day and when I went back to tell him, he offered no help but that I should come back in a few hours. I'll probably get hit with data charges for not being on wifi but whatever, he didn't seem to care when I told him that either. When we checked out, we were told we had to have our towel keys turned it (we left them in the room with the room keys). I told him that they were in the room and that we had to get on our shuttle for the airport and he said I would have to pay $30 per card if they were not turned in. So I went all the way back to the room to get them. This info was never made clear to us when we arrived. We didn't get to try the italian restaurant because of the reservation mixup. But, aside from that the wait staff was friendly and they were very appreciative in the fact we tipped for every drink, service, etc, that we received. Great room.

As we finished checking in, a woman pressured us to have breakfast with her for a presentation the next morning....she said that there would be $100 gift for attending....she promised it was not a time share....it was....they said they wanted us to join this vacation club so that we could cut out the "third party" vendors such as Apple Vacation...."Vacation Club" When I declined, they got biligerant....routined my day....did not want to give me the promised gift because I said no....

Hotel is very dated. The AC in the rooms is so noisey we couldn't sleep with it on. The ceiling fan was the same way. Bartenders were rude and acted like it was a problem to make us a drink. Will not return or recommend this resort to anyone. Very disappointed my vacation was not what I had expected.

Air conditioning inadequate. Concierge staff had to be told over and over and over before we got new rooms that were no better (our friends room was far worse). No compensation for our aggravation even offered. Beach was covered in seaweed. They need heavy equipment to remove it. Wait staff was awesome. All in all, maybe a 3.5 rating, thanks to wait staff at good food.

Upon arrival we had two rooms reserved, one room the air conditioner was working ok (not cold) the other was hot because the air conditioner was working at all. The ceiling fan in that same room also had a mind of it's own, worked when it wanted too. Out of a 4 night stay the air conditioner worked for 2 of those nights. The property itself was very spread out and there was a lot of walking to get from one vent to another, shuttles didn't run as frequently as they needed too. Mosquitos were a huge issue as the property had numerous swampy areas and even though the sprayed the mosquitos were bad. Overall we would not choose to return to this property.

Shabby hotel, rude staff, tiny unkept beach, awful holiday

This hotel is in no way a 4 star, is a 1.5/2 at best. The rooms and buildings are shabby and in need of a fix up, and the facilities in the hotel are not as described. The 24hr bar is small, sweaty and dingey. The entertainment stops far too early for a 24hr bar, then you are left sitting in a quiet sweaty room. The staff, not all of them, but a lot, were extremely rude, and refused to serve drinks to myself and boyfriend, as well as other couples we got speaking to. The all inc, usive buffet is basic, but you won’t be able to eat anywhere else in shorts if you’re a guy, which they didn’t tell us before arriving. Our swimwear was bleached from the pool as they were pouring chlorine into it whilst we were in the pool during the day. The tiles were broken and chipped, which was dangerous and painful. The beach was awful, in comparison to the beach at other hotels further along. The water was black and no effort to keep it clear had been made. The hotel is not near to anything, you have to get taxis air buses to go anywhere. The only good thing was the massage we had on our last day, that was amazing, you will need it after a Holliday here! After arriving home and emailing tui to let the, know how disappointing this trip was, they simp,y brushed us off with crappy emails.

Mold, Leaks and how is this a 5 star resort?

So traveling with my family for a last family vacation with my elderly grandma, we wanted to go to a place that wouldn't be to tough on her. SO Cancun it was as there were enough options around that she could take part in so the location to other attractions was the main thing that made us choose this resort as well as all of the fact it was suppose to be 5 star and have all these ammenities. My room issues: First room entry light once you open door leaking water and full of mold. Never mind slipping on the puddle under it and thinking I was going to die. Second Room - Staff member opens the door and says 'uh-oh there is a problem with this room too' There is a trash bin under the AC in the entrance hallway that is about 1/3 full of water that is dripping from roof/AC unit not sure which. Can hear the toilet constantly running from out in the hallway as I refuse to even enter the room. He tests the lights and the main lights actually flicker constantly when he turns them on like there is water damage in the electrical. NOPE. Room Three - I can officially say there were no leaks and the lights seemed to work. However the bathroom had mold behind the toilet that had grown so much you could see it beyond the back of the toilet.... AND the shower had black mold in it. Also the sheets were permanently stained with I'm guessing someones mascara - not mine as they were stained when I pulled them back day one, and were I'm guessing Queen sized at best? Maybe Double or twin? Literally they didn't cover the entire mattress there as 3 inches from the bottom of the mattress where I slept on as well as all the way down the bottom of it where it should hang and tuck in that was sheet free. Door failed 3 days in? Battery died. Tried to get my cards fixed thought it was them 4 times. First in the morning before an excursion (good thing I literally decided to take everything I needed for it with me to breakfast!) then 3 times after I got back from said excursion over a 30 minute period where I walked back and forth and finally got mad and told them to check the door because I was tired of walking and I'd had a long day and needed a shower after being in the sea all day swimming. Maintanence and security were awesome about getting me back into my room and fixing the door. Front desk? Not so much I mean I saw the same person 3 times and it didn't click that something beyond the key might be an issue since he said it's suppose to be working.... Other room issues in my group: Parents room Safe Never actually worked right for the entire week despite multiple complaints to front desk. - Be aware that this means your valuable like theirs could be at risk! Their internet was at best spotty and slow when it was working Toilet was constantly running - my dad fixed a float problem it was having but the seal was damaged as well and he couldn't fix that. Overall - No hot water (Warm water occassionally) Buffet at main hall was meh at best. Day one we were almost not allowed to eat because all restaurants required a reservation Christmas eve (we were told it was special dinner and we need to dress up not that we had to make a reservation) So we had to fight to be allowed to eat as there was no where TO EAT aside from there after a 5 hour flight and the hour and a half of transport to the hotel, and trying to get a hotel room that wasn't crap. Entertainment at night was MEH at best - they had a circus show second night that was good but that was the only one worth watching. Grease - or whatever it was they tried to call Grease...was painful. LIke people were literally getting up and leaving the area it was so bad and these were a lot of polite Canadians that suffer through highschool musicals and clap politely. Over all. WOULD NOT GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL Only Reason it's getting a Poor rating is the staff. They did their best when they realized how bad things were and tried their best to fix it.

Beautiful resort and wonderful people

My fiance and I stayed a week at this resort. And from we got there, it was beautiful. The greeting was pleasant. Our room wasn't ready, we went out to explore a bit, to check where everything is. And the resort is HUGE. The layout of the resort is nicely done . Everything is spread out so you don't feel too close to each other. There is a shuttle bus that goes around every so often . We ended up grabbing a bite to eat at the lunch buffet and no complaints at all . Food was great and a good variety. We got a wonderful room close to the beach . Most I love about the room. It has two sinks ! It's great! A big enough balcony as well. The bed was soft but the pillows were a flat for my liking. Coming towards dinner.. Great buffet again!. Countless of things to eat and service was great as well. Each server is friendly and they speak good english. They have live band playing at night and nightly shows. As well live band during the afternoon. The resort has a big shopping boutique with gifts, liquor, coffee etc.. now the beach.. the biggest downfall out of this resort ... "bluebay", hoping its blue .. not at all.. the water is not crystal blue..... a whole shore line of seaweed.... the first bit of the beach is dark brown with sandy waters... And there is so many rocks!!.. It's not very nice... but the workers do come and keep the beach as clean as possible... just the water isn't blue :(    :(  .. but ! It might be because of the time/season we went. I'm not sure. But rocks 100% swim shoes would of helped The pool by the beach is quite big and there is another pool closer to the main building (we found that pool 3 days later haha). Like I said, they keep people spend out. We personally didn't go to the pool . So i have no idea how the water is, temperature, etc.. BUT. Plenty of beach&pool chairs. We went to the Italian, seafood and Mexican (twice!) a la carte restaurants. Seafood sadly as good as we've hoped but the Mexican was delicious!! And my favourite thing. No limit on how many times to book for the a la carte restaurant. The breakfast buffet and lunch buffet are good ! Great food and quality! I'm not a picky eater, I'll try everything. I had something different to eat all the time.. plus, there are 2 buffet restaurants for breakfast and lunch. One by the front main lobby and the other by the pool/beach. The bars are really nice. A bar by the beach has a swing bar and the main bar by the lobby is the "black&white" bar. Really nice. Finally.. leaving the resort. The bellboy called us ! And was downstairs ready to take us back to the main lobby.. ( it's about a good 7-10 minute walk)... like I said, the resort is huge! In summary. We will definitely go back to this resort. Amazing people and resort. Just the beach is a little disappointing.

Visited in November 2017 3 star accomedations but 4 star for food. -1 because of timeshare !

We went in November 2017 as a last minute get away. When we even tried to enter the lobby the time share people were on us like sharks, to the point they tried to tell me to go to their desk instead of checking in. The waiter who offered me a drink had to reassure me he wasn't a timeshare person that's how bad we were swarmed. Even as we left on the golf cart they were calling us to pay attention to them. All swimming pools except the main large one were closed, but the main one was good enough with entertainment but no waiters to serve drinks really. The beer cart lady came around once in awhile. Bathrooms by the restaurant are better then the other one. The restaurant by the main pool and bar has the nicest fresh buffet compared to the main area one. We didn't have hot water for 2+ days which they at first told me was normal, but when I finally got blunt with them it at least became warm but never hot. The wildlife are so fun, deer, Coatis , raccoons, and we saw these other very shy creatures called Agouti which was because we backed onto the Mangrove and they are usually hard to spot. The birds on our balcony were so beautiful as well. The food especially lunches at the beach restaurant and our supper at the Italian place was our highlight
