Tranquil & beautiful jungle lodge

We have a wonderful family vacation at Blancaneaux. The cabanas are spacious and beautiful, decorated with local textiles and hammocks. Big ceiling fans keep the spaces cool even in the heat of the day. The staff help you select and arrange day trips to local sites — we loved the iguana rescue center. We highly recommend this beautiful place.

This hotel is tucked away in the jungle and it just beautifully decorated and peaceful. The room had a view of the river with a hammock so you can hang out on the deck. The service at the restaurant was exceptional which is great because you can't really go anywhere else. The drinks were refreshing and they even decorate the garnishes and turn them into shapes. The food was cooked to perfection and we enjoyed the specials. Some of the best salsa I have ever had too! It was just so fresh! Johnny was so kind and we loved talking to him and it was nice that he remembered our names each time we spoke to him.

We spent four nights at the Lodge and had an excellent stay. The resort staff were all professional and incredibly friendly. A special shoutout must go to Eddie, Alex and Hector for their knowledge, humour and patience with our family. You guys were great!! We had amazing activities to choose from - ATM and Big Rock Falls nearby are a must. A word of warning - watch out for the scorpions - we had one pop up in our room on the first night, although it was swiftly dealt with.

Absolutely faultless

The staff, location, villa, food and service were without doubt, faultless. The staff were so friendly with a special mention to Jonny “be good”. They all went beyond any normal idea of service to ensure that we had a memorable stay.

Trip of a lifetime, with outstanding service

Let me start by saying - STAY AT THIS PROPERTY. The experience alone is worth the trip to Belize, and the only downside is I'm not sure if any other experience will ever live up to their exceptional staff and service!! I can say with full, 100% certainty that this is the best resort I have ever visited in my life. This will be a LONG review, but I wanted to make sure that each and every detail was covered as this resort and it's wonderful staff deserves all the recognition possible!! From the moment we arrived, we received excellent service and felt like we were the most important people in the world. Our driver Gilberto was wonderful - he picked us up from the airport in the hotel vehicle (they have a fleet of nice Toyota Four Runners, which was comfortable and roomy especially on the bumpy roads), and spoke with us on the drive up about Belize and the area we were about to visit. When we pulled into Blancaneaux, we felt we entered paradise - palm trees lined the road up to the resort, and every plant, flower, tree and bush was perfectly manicured. We were dropped off in front of the resort and greeted by Bernie, the GM of the property. Following his greeting, the front desk/front office manager led us to a table with two delicious cocktails (jaguar juice - highly recommend it!) and sat with us carefully reviewing each accommodation, tours available, food menus, and taking care to use our names and get to know us. He followed-up the resort orientation by walking us to to our dwelling (where our bags were of course waiting), and highlighting the features of our temporary home. Since it was our honeymoon, they had pre-placed a tray of fresh fruit and a chilled bottle of champagne on our patio, along with a hand-written note from Bernie congratulating us.It was the perfect start! Food: Our first night we ate at the Guatamalteca restaurant, and were greeted by Janny who read us the specials, and introduced us to our waiter Diego. Our food was OUTSTANDING, and it continued to be for the rest of the trip. We took advantage of the daily specials and were blown away by the freshness of the vegetables and personalized service. Our second night at Blancaneaux was an equally if not more impressive meal, prepared and served in their organic garden. After receiving about an hour tour from Hector, we enjoyed a freshly prepared meal by Chef Isadora. This was a full vegetarian meal, and yet was completely flavorful and filling - coming from meat eaters this is saying a lot! We also took full advantage of their complimentary breakfast service in the morning, in which they will deliver a pot of coffee, fresh fruit, and pastries to your room at a designated time. They will also deliver any other hot meals you desire, and we were extremely impressed with the promptness especially since our dwelling was about a 5-minute walk from the main lobby! During excursions, we had lunch provided for us. And it was a GREAT lunch - wonderful sandwiches, excellent smoked chicken and fresh salads, as well as a healthy portion of chips salsa and fruit! The drivers/guides during each excursion also took the time to lay out a dark green tablecloth, branded water goblets, a fresh jug of water and bottled sodas, and real silverware/plates for our meals. This was a significant step-up in comparison to the other resort guides who only used plastic (I will reiterate that Blancaneaux is a very eco-friendly property which accounts for their very little amount of waste, which is both a benefit to the earth and the guests). Excursions: Our first morning we set a time to explore the Stables & go on a horseback ride to "big Rock Falls", a fairly popular location to reach via hiking or on horseback. Our guide was Francisco, and he was of course extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and very skilled. He not only led us to the waterfalls, but showed us how to carefully navigate through the pools, avoid currents, and took photos of us jumping off rocks - talk about above and beyond! On Wednesday we took the BEST tour ever - ATM Cave. I will have to write a separate review about this experience, as it was the only one that was not facilitated by Blancaneaux - though they did set-up absolutely everything! The following-day we experienced Barton Creek Cave, which was led by Alex, who did an exceptional job during the drive and the canoe tour - he stopped to point out animal tracks, discussed the birds, plant life in the area, and told colorful stories about the Mayan people who would use the cave for sacrificial ceremonies and as a sacred location where they would pray to the gods. He was so well-versed in basically everything! I will point out that Alex was also our driver on the way back to the airport, and he once again went above and beyond - even accommodating our request to stop at the zoo - where he also served as our guide telling us about each animal and his personal sightings. He was top-notch. I will say, both my husband and I were extremely fond of all of our guides, but wanted to give a special shout out to Eddie. Eddie was our tour guide for our full-day excursion into Caracol - which is one of the most challenging roads, and a very in depth area (lots to see, discuss, point out, etc). Eddie had an incredible attitude, and was incredibly friendly and open to answering all of our questions. We were blown away by his knowledge of the area, and even more so by his pride for what he does and genuine interest in discussing the culture and history of the ruins. I will point out that it was POURING rain that day - and Eddie still drove through the riverbeds and dirt roads that are all along the path to Caracol, as well as walked us up and down the ruins despite the rainy conditions. All three of us were rather wet (he provided us umbrellas of course, but we wanted both of our hands free for climbing). This was an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am so glad we had Francisco, Alex, and Eddie for our tours - we felt so lucky to have them, and be able to experience these amazing sites and tours in a small intimate setting. Notable moments of Exceptional Service: All of the restaurants/dining areas (including each cabana patio) is in an open-air space, which is fantastic - you are able to hear and see the beautiful waterfall and decor at all times of the day. One of the nights at the resort was a little chilly; there was some light rain and a cold front coming in, and I was in casual attire (the resort is all casual dress code), meaning a tank and shorts. I didn't mention anything of course, because I was still comfortable, but because Blancaneaux is the happiest place on earth (move over, Disneyland), one of the servers came over and presented me with a warm blanket to drape over my legs. This was unprecedented - it was as if they could read my mind, and wanted to provide something just a little bit extra to make me even more comfortable - something neither "needed" per say and certainly not expected, but just something to go above and beyond. The final "cherry on top" of our stay was our Candlelight dinner. As honeymooners, we had the option of having a private dinner served in several locations along the resort - on the patio of your dwelling, in one of the outdoor private dining areas, or along the water. We chose along the water, and again - they exceeded our expectations. Irene (front desk associate extraordinaire) had us meet her in the lobby at the time of our dinner reservation, and introduced us to Abraham who would be our server. He introduced himself, and then led us down a winding staircase to a gazebo that was erected along the river. There were candles lining the pathway, and beautiful cloth draping fully decorating the gazebo. There was red fabric carefully shaped into a heart, and fresh flower petals making hearts on the table, the floor, and shaped into our initials. Abraham did a PERFECT job of being extremely attentive and informative, while also making sure that we had a private experience and were never interrupted. He was so sweet and kind to us, was accommodating, and there anytime we needed anything. Truly a spectacular person. Shoutouts: Special thanks to all of the amazing individuals who made our stay outstanding, and the honeymoon we could never had even dreamed of... Gilberto, Gilbert (BEST MOJITOS EVER), Janny (BEST PINA COLADA EVER!), Irene, Rina, Bernie, Jorge, Janny, Diego, George, Hector, Isadora, Eddie, Alex, Abraham. We loved it - and we are already researching all other Family Coppola Resorts - but the expectations sure are high. :) ~ Sarah & Matt
