Overall Review

The food staff were outstanding and the housekeeping was great in the beginning. After four days they just arrived too late to clean the rooms. The entertainers were exceptional and embraced everyone so positively. I was quite annoyed about the smoking and felt there needed to be a place for smokers. The fact that no one came to transfer us to the airport was quite upsetting and I was fearful of missing my flight and had to pay out of pocket expenses for a taxi. That should not have happened especially since I had worked it out and even had the person's name who made the arrangements with me. Overall I would give it a B.

My experience at B-Live was the worst vacation I have ever had. I called Apple Vacation and complained and they did nothing. I have booked travel through Apple Vacation for the past 7 years and have referred several relatives to book through Apple. Because of this horrible experience, I will never book through Apple Vacation again. My husband and I are taking our anniversary trip in August and I am in the process of going through other travel agencies. My relatives met me at the B Live resort and I felt awful because I was the one who encouraged them to come there. From now on me, any of my family members, or friends will take our business elsewhere.

Electricity kept going out, TV didn't work very well, when calling room service (3 times) no one answered. Staff was not pleasant at all at any of the restaurants or bars (felt like we were a bother to them). The buffet restaurant's food was poor, the Lobster House food was excellent, and the Auqa restaurant was OK. I would not go back to this hotel.

The beach was disgusting and full of seaweed, the lights and water kept going out, 3 of the 4 alla carts restaurants that we paid to have access to were closed during our stay, the pools closed super early and the quality of liquor at the bars were poor.

Check in was horrible took us 4 times waiting in line for our room to be ready. Had to change rooms, due to no air in the first room and the second room was not much better. Little air and a horrible mildew smell. Was told it was all the room but it wasn't had friends and family in other rooms and their room were perfectly fine. Loved the beach bar Sonja & Jesus was the greatest. Treating us like family knowing what drinks we liked and always making sure we had a table to hang out at.

The pictures don't really represent what the average vacationer will get. The cabanas are for VIP only. The rooms are out dated. It was a nice experience but more so because we had great company. Each couple had issues with their room. Issues with staff. Plumbing issues. We were told to move out things out of our room and we would be transfered to another room 3 hrs later. Which was ridiculous to be without a room mid day in that heat. A person opened our door without knocking whatsoever while I was in the shower and my husband was in bed. Our room was at the edge of the property which was adjacent to a home so we had dogs barking, roosters cock a dooing. The vendors are pushy. The time share people basically kidnap you. They escort you to set up your transportation then deliver you to someone to listen about a time share. I went along not thinking I had a choice in the matter. Admittedly, I enjoyed my time with them but did not purchase a vacation package. But, they are relentless in their efforts to trap vacationers. It's annoying at best. My next resort would have to have no solicitors. The buffet and the steak house provided the best meals. The other restaurants we visited were not great. Fortunately our reservation was early enough to hit the buffet after. It wasn't a horrible vacation but it could have been better.

After reading reveiws about the hotel, I was a little worried. It wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been. But it wasn't what I thought I paid for. I was turned off after staying at this hotel. For all inclusive, I expected more. This was a lower all inclusive hotel, that you have to pay more to get a VIP service. Why pay more? I already paid for an all inclusive stay, and felt like I was at a low brow hotel. Not at all what I expected.

First off it took over 2 hours to check in! That is ridiculous. There were a ton of people helped while I waited. When I finally get to my room it smells horrible and the door handle comes off in my hand every time I try to leave the room. The room was not up dated. The food however was excellent in the buffet and in the restaurant the drinks were good. That staff was good. The front desk staff not so much. The guest service desk did finally help me get a new room days in after continually complaints.

Great vacation but avoid the casino

We went to play in the casino our 2nd night there. I was playing Texas Hold em and was winning by a decent amount. I decided I had enough and got up to cash out. The casino staff PHYSICALLY would not me leave. They told me I had to keep playing. After arguing to no avail, I sat back down. I tried to just fold out hoping they would let me leave, but they again insisted that I play my hands. At this point my wife who was behind me was getting nervous, and quite frankly a little scared. I ended up leaving with NOTHING. Once I busted out, they let me leave. Whatever you do, do not play there. I went from having some nice change in my pocket, making it an even better vacation, to being down money. Terrible experience.

What a dreadful place, currently a building site that the expect you to sleep next too, a bunch of people at reception that have never heard the words customer service never mind understand what it means. What’s even more hauling is that it doesn’t have to be this way. It’s a management issue I think. We talked to some of the staff and they never see the manager, not allowed to talk to them, one showed us to our room (the fourth room as the other three were awful) it was raining but he couldn’t get an umbrella as they were for management only....... The hotel is on a really nice beach, a little seaweed but they clean the beach each day, there are local sellers on there but they are cool, not too much hassle from them. Beach staff are friendly especially in the VIP area but you have to get there early to reserve a bed. Food is ok, best to upgraded to VIP or get used to standing in line. Drinks are great, all the usual spirits etc. It’s the reception area and the fact that your holiday doesn’t matter if it’s surrounded by jack hammers from 7:30 am until 6:30 pm, even near the main pool area . Read the other reviews..... you’ve been warned !!!!

Terrible experience

Got food poisoning. Had a crab in the room in the shower that was alive. Took 2 trips and an hour of time to the vip desk for them to remove it . The shower kept flooding the bathroom even after we told them to fix it. Very dirty room with dead mosquitos. Both my wife and I got sick. Pool was very dirty. Entertainment was awesome only good thing about this resort. Spaghetti was a great leader for the activities team. And Sergio at the pool bar along with all the bartenders!

A Mixed Bag...

Coming into this trip, due to the deal we got through Groupon and the reviews I had read, I had low expectations. I think this is important because the lens with which you approach the vacation can drastically affect your impression during and after. I've now been here at the resort for 5 days and feel as though I'm qualified to leave a thoughtful review of the property. THE ROOMS We booked a King room and upon arriving to our Block 3 room, we realized we had been given two queen beds. We promptly returned to the front desk to request a new room...little did I know at the time, the fate of the trip would hinge on this interaction with the front desk. We approached Jose, who seemed to maybe be the front desk manager, and asked to switch rooms. Jose indicated it was not a problem and he quickly switched us to an upgraded, swim-up room in Block 16. When we arrived at the room, we were shocked at the night and day difference between the Block 16 room and the Block 3 room. The room in Block 3 was sticky and hot with outdated furniture and a view of construction equipment out the window. The Block 16 room had cold A/C, had been recently renovated, and had direct access to the pool from our patio. This was a huge shift. We are traveling with family, and upon hearing about the outdated Block 4 rooms to which they were subjected the following morning at breakfast, we recommended they go see Jose as we did. Once again, Jose came through. He moved them to a pair of Block 17 rooms. Both updated, and one with swim-up access directly across from ours. I really can't say enough about Jose, you could tell he was juggling numerous tasks, being yelled at by angry customers, answering staff questions, all while trying to perform his normal duties. He always remained calm and was prompt in helping us each time. VIP EXPERIENCE After reading the reviews on here, we decided it would be best to bite the bullet and upgrade to the VIP Access. After 5 days with VIP, I'm not positive it's worth it. I think it may be worth $15-$20/day, but not the $30 that we paid. The primary perk is the access to a private pool and beach area with a bar in between. This area was never crowded and was well maintained. Elvi took great care of us each time we were over there. The beach beds were incredible with a cool breeze blowing in off the ocean and we took advantage of these on several occasions. The main pool was very crowded and not nearly as well maintained as the VIP pool. Another VIP perk is the 24-Hour Room Service, which we also took advantage of several times. It typically took about an hour to get our food, but it was decent food and was very convenient. VIP also allows access to the Aqua buffet, which is smaller with less options, however it's also much less crowded than the main buffet. I did, however, see several people dining there who didn't have VIP wristbands, so it may actually be open to everyone. Still not totally clear on that. Premium Internet should be included in the VIP package to increase its value. The free WIFI is very spotty and inaccessible in some parts of the resort. Adding Premium to the VIP package would be a simple way for management to give the patrons a bit more for their money. Additionally, after reading the reviews I believe our VIP status may have benefited us when we were upgraded to the nicer room in Block 16. If this truly did play a role in that decision to move us, then it was worth the $30 per day and then some. RESTAURANTS The restaurants seem to be average resort-style restaurants. Really a mixed bag as far as the food is concerned, sometimes it was overcooked, other times undercooked, sometimes flavorful, other times not so much. The main buffet was terribly crowded at certain peak times and the food was average for the most part, but overall a decent selection of dishes to choose from. We asked the VIP concierge on the first night if it was a requirement for men to wear long pants in all of the evening restaurants and they indicated that it was a requirement. After dining in these restaurants for 4 nights now, we have yet to see any of them that hold true to this rule as most of the patrons have worn shorts and/or t-shirts. RANDOM THOUGHTS Casino - The casino seems a little sketchy and some of the games have a much higher house edge than we are used to in the States. Make sure you know all the rules of the games before playing, because they will likely attempt to take advantage of you. I caught onto some of these tactics quickly, but it would be difficult for someone with little experience with casinos or win probabilities to notice some of the subtleties that all but guarantee your eventual financial demise. Pushy Salesmen - I have read about this as a complaint in many of the reviews, and it's true. There are salesmen all over the resort, and they can be pushy. With that being said, however, I can say they've had no impact on my stay whatsoever. Typically I just thank them and quickly keep walking, I haven't had any try to follow me after I walk past them. If you end up speaking with these people for ten minutes when you don't want to, then it's your own fault. They are just salespeople trying to do their job. No need to be rude, but you can politely decline their advances and continue walking without exerting much energy in the exchange. With that being said, I am a bit confused as to why the resort allows them in such abundance. I imagine they're much more trouble than they're worth, especially after seeing all of the complaints in the reviews. The Ocean - Do not come to this resort if you plan to spend a lot of time in the ocean, because the water is not good. Tons of seaweed and it looks more like a lake. There are some great pools on the property, which is where we spent the majority of our time. We didn't even set foot in the ocean and you likely won't have any desire to either upon seeing it. Complaints - Most of the complaints on the reviews I have read are validated. The keys frequently don't work, some of the staff are rude (though some are great), the outdated rooms are not good, the construction is ongoing, the ocean is dirty and filled with seaweed, salespeople are everywhere, etc. There are some serious management issues at this resort, but once again it all comes back to perspective. Had I paid $1500 per person to travel to and stay at this resort, then my perspective would be much different than it is now, considering we only paid $600 per person through a Groupon which included round-trip airfare. CLOSING THOUGHTS All in all, I do think this resort has potential. Once the renovations are completed and management ups it's game, this could be a great vacation spot. It's certainly a work in progress and there are some concerns, but there are plenty of positives too. Like I mentioned before, had we not had the luck of working with Jose on day one, our trip could have turned out much differently. My advice before coming here would be to temper your expectations a bit, focus on the positives, and remember that you are on vacation. Everything won't be perfect, things will go wrong, but take it in stride and enjoy yourself...Also, get a room in Block 16 or Block 17, if at all possible!

Disappointed honeymoon
Courtney S,
Tue Jul 17 12:56:33 EDT 2018
Please do not stay at Be Live. My husband and I came very excited to stay for our honeymoon. The checkin process was very hectic. We were told to meet back in a room at 3pm to receive our keys. Came to the room and the receptionist gave 2 couples their keys and then left. After sitting for 30+ minutes we realized she wasn’t coming back. Our whole group had to then go downstairs wait in line for another 30+ minutes to receive our room assignments. There are no elevators so we had to carry all our luggage up 3 flights of steps. When we got into our room the smell was horrible. I threw up in my mouth every time we walked in and everytime we walked out. We had a pool view which was pretty awesome. The room felt very nasty with a lot of random dirt and and smeared things on the walls and furniture. We never ate at the buffet because the food was so nasty especially breakfast. The steakhouse and Mexican restaurant were Amazing and we wish we would have discovered them early in our stay. The bar staff and restaurant staff were extremely friendly which was enjoyable. We did however tell the receptionist it was our honeymoon to see if we could get anything special, she said she would tell customer service. No one ever contacted us about our honeymoon or providing any special accommodations. All nonupgrade rooms need to be upgraded as soon as possible. Also the timeshare sellers are extremely pushy making us want to stay away from the lobby area at all cost. We thought our experience was the norm for all inclusive resorts being that it was the first. Unfortunately our flight got cancelled the day of departure, but it allowed for us to stay at a different resort which proved that our experience could have been much better. Also make sure you stay on the Caribbean side of Punta Cana because this Be Live was on the Atlantic side where the water was no different than going to a lake.

Unbelievable

First off I wish I would have gone on here and read some of the reviews!!!! The accommodations where horrendous, we had no phone nor AC for the entire visit even after making many trips to the lobby and talking to staff to try and get things resolved!! The plumbing was so bad there was a constant smell of sewage in the air that was just sickening!! The in room safe was inoperable along with the Tv for several days even after letting management know immediately!! Stay away there are much better places to go to then Be Live Resorts the management does not care!! The only nice thing about the place were the waiters and room cleaning staff they were top notch!!!!
