Nice beach but lots of room for improvement.

This resort had a nice beach with clean grounds. The pool seemed very dirty compared to other resorts that I have stayed at. Buffet food was ok, but the Brazilian restaurant was one of the best a la carte's I have ever had. I was in building #1 that was very convenient to the pool and restaurants. Our friends stayed in the new section, building #16 which was an extremely long walk from everything. Our room was very dated and this resort certainly is due for some major renovations to keep up with the competition. The price for this resort was definitely lower than elsewhere, so I guess at the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

Not Bad But Not The Best

Our family trip to be live collection was good but not the best I been to DR 3 times and once to Mexico this resort I would put it at 4th when it comes to resorts. When we first got to be live there was a bit of confusion when it came to the rooms which was resolved and they upgraded us to VIP ocean view which was unbelievable. The 2 a la Carts we Tryed were the Brazilian house which was not good and not Brazilian at all and the lobster house which was really good the buffet was ok it was very repetitive unlike other resorts I have been to when they would have different foods and culture nights all week I felt like I ate the same thing all week. The burger bar was your typical late night snack nothing to separate it from the other food places good for a quick pick up n eat for lunch or late night. The entertainment was amazing best entertainment of all the resorts I been to amazing night shows and awesome entertainers Speedy and Spaghetti were AMAZING they are truly the heart of this resort with out them I don't think this place could keep going they bring the energy everyday and every night. Also milly the kids entertainer was amazing you could see she loves being around the kids and making them laugh and giving them a great time do not hesitate to leave your kids with her she is AMAZING!. The beach was pretty good relaxing and quiet, ELVIN the beach waiter hands down the hardest working waiter in that place I never once seen him stop serving people and making people laugh you could see he loves his job and loves to serve people he is truly a joy to be around. One thing that threw me off with this resort is that the vendors do not leave you alone and keep on bugging you to buy they're excursion packages and the more they did it the more it made me not want to go with them so me and my family decided to give the guys on the beach a try and best decision we did we met this young guy called Luis Chocolate Highly Recommended we got the buggie's excursion which he recommended to us and it was amazing what a blast we had and thanks to him we got to experience DR and not just the resort he walks the beach in a beige golf shirt with the name of the company VIP DO NOT go through the resort. $70 compare to $35 sounded like a good deal to me. If it weren't for these people helping us and being the best they could be I would give this resort a 2 star but because of these hard working people that give it all they have to make our vacation one to remember I will give this resort a 4 star.

Better than expected

So this was our first trip to DR but have been to multiple locations in Mexico on both coasts. Heard many wonderful things about DR so wanted to experience it. There are many ranges of lodging, Be Live was in our budget for All Inclusive so that is what we chose. After reading many reviews it was either people loved it or hated it. We are pretty easy going people so I would think we could go anywhere. With the hotel we chose to upgrade to VIP and it was worth it. You were greeted in the lobby at arrival and started a one on one tour with the concierge. Showed us the grounds and then to a VIP lounge for a drink and check in. Overall I would say a few things. Pros; VIP beach area with private bar was a little packed but you got to stay away from all the Spring Breakers because they were on top of one another. Top shelf booze at pretty much all bars and all bottle beer in VIP. Out of the restaurants the Brazilian and Mediterranean were our favorites. Even the Japanese one was better than I thought (most entertaining). VIP lounge had computers to use and really the only spot on the property that had wifi without paying for it and snacks replenished throughout the day. Cons; Mexican evening restaurant was not that good at all but best place to eat breakfast as a VIP because it wasn't so busy. SERVICE, we tend to like to tip for drinks but most bartenders were on their time regardless if there were 2 of us or 20 people lined up...same pace. That was probably the most frustrating part. No one is in a hurry no matter how much you tipped. Last I would say is the noise, first 4 days there were a lot of younger Spring Breakers and with the tile floors it could get really loud at times even until 3-4am. In the end we went in with lower expectations and were pleasantly surprised with the Food, Drink and Lodging.

I want to share our experience in this resort. Check in: It was, as they told us, at 3 pm. We arrived early and they gave us bracelets and asked us to come back at 3 pm to get the rooms. We got them in time. We had 3 room and we had requested adjoining rooms and we got them. Rooms; they were OK. The bathroom had been renovated, but furniture was a bit old but in good condition. There are a few pillows to choose, but if you are picky about your pillow, I suggest you bring your own. The soft ones were granular (if you get what I mean), the others were so hard.... We had some issues with the supplies in the room. Even when we tipped everyday, there was always something missing, towels, or water bottles or the beer. At the 4th day, we did not get towels, not water and not beer, so my husband decided to complain with the girl’s supervisor and it was a permanent solution. But it’s sad to have to complain about getting a minimum, even when you let her one or two dollars per room. Pool: Main pool wasn’t very clean. I don’t know the reason, but the water was unclear. I don’t know if it was because of the soap used in the Foam party (which occurs once a week), or something worst ... but it was not nice. The other pools were clear and clean, but empty and boring, as all the action happens at the main pool. Entertainment: This is this the strongest point in this resort. Entertainment people work hard and if you are interested they can keep you busy and amused all day and night. There are two entertainment groups. One the Dominican or the hotel team, and the other is the Lookea team (for French people, but they do speak English and Spanish). Both are very professional and they do their best during activities, both at the beach and the main pool. Evening shows are typical resort shows, but good enough. Hygiene; I’m not sure how good it was. We were a party of 8, and 4 of us got sick. Even when we were taking all precautions and drinking only bottled water, etc., etc.... So, if you go there, 50% chances to get sick. We got diarrhea, abdominal pain and at the end a kind of rash .... nothing serious but disturbing during a vacation. Customers: Some of them normal people, but others disrespectful. Once we got two Russian ladies who decided to get our chairs in the pool, so I had to make them leave the place, they tried to tell me that not towel was on the chairs but I kept my point and they left. Next morning, our 4 towels disappear from our chairs and people had taken them. The towels were never found. As you are supposed to pay $20 for each lost towel, I had to talk to the boy in the pool to get 4 more towels, but we warned me not to lose them again, as they could cost me $20 each. Food and Restaurant: The main buffet is OK. A lot of choices, and even when it could be a waiting line, they always find a table for you. Service is as usual in a resort. They work hard and there are a lot of people. Never had to complain. Regarding the Hygiene, I’m not sure, as 4 of us got sick, it had to come from the food or the pool. A la carte, we only did the Mexican, not good, slow service, and the menu is very minimal. We did also the Japanese, and it was much better. Even if it wasn’t a terrible experience, and we enjoyed most of our vacation, we won’t go back there. The hygiene is very important for me and this resort wasn’t up to the requirements.

Would not be my first choice......

Three friends and I came on our first trip to the DR to celebrate my birthday and one of my other friends birthdays. The resort looked exactly like the pics, and I was super excited to be there. All except the rooms. Somehow, my reservation was messed up and I was placed on the other side of the resort away from my friends while she was placed in VIP. The room I was given was not clean, the toilet was broken, the handle on the shower was broken and their was hair all over the freshly mopped floor. I requested and was given a different room still away from my friends. I went and attempted to speak to the manager Artiles, about the situation, he ignored me and would not acknowledge me and then went to the back office and would not come back out to speak with me. The food was subpar. The best restaurant was Mylo's. Great food and drinks. Great staff working inside. I went to the Mexican restaurant for my birthday dinner and once we were seated, we waited 45 minutes for our margaritas that we requested. Another 30 minutes after that for food. Other guests came in after us and ate before us. When I asked the wait staff if we would get our food soon, he was less than happy to come and speak with us and it showed on his face. Our food was cold when we did get it. We took a couple of bites and then left. There were some good parts about the resort, but the first day soured my entire trip. I will NEVER return to this resort and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
