This is fourth time booking with apple as a group (4 couples) and we were highly disappointed. Typically booking through apple gives us extra perks with the hotel. This instance we got nothing. The hotel was not great. We NEVER had enough towels or wash clothes even though there are only two people per room. That makes no sense to me. The staff was not friendly. No one communicated the events that would take place. Our apple representative was like a Dominican Police officer. Trying to force us to book an excursion and would not allow to look elsewhere. Of course, its a group of 8, so we made the best of it. But I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. And I am highly disappointed at the lack of benefits for booking through apple. If we get the same thing as everyone else, what is perk of booking through apple?

The restaurants were frustrating as the ala carte was booked from our arrival until we left. The rooms were uncomfortable. There was nothing to do at night. The pool was great though. Beach had a shelf ledge which makes swimming hard.

Our stay at Be Live Collection Marian in Puerto Plata Dom Rep was our 20th anniversary. We have stayed at many all inclusive resorts and have traveled on cruise ships. We are easy going people and would not let our surroundings determine the total quality of our vacation. With that being said, we had a VERY nice time at Be Live! It was probably the most beautiful pool we have seen yet. The beach was nice. The food was ok. BUT when we got there they had overbooked. We had reserved an ocean view room and they wanted to give us a garden view. They wanted us to check back in with them the next morning to see if "maybe" an ocean view had become available. We were VERY upset to say the least. I contacted the Apple rep. Rodolfo, who contacted the manager and got us our ocean view room. BUT...yes again but, it was a very very outdated room!! It had a broken cupboard door on the dresser, mold around the bathroom sink, a broken tub, falling ceiling panels in the bathroom, broken fridge, and old furniture. We decided at that point to just accept the view and enjoy our trip regardless of the accommodations. From that point on we found the staff to be less than attentive, although our maid service was excellent!! We had to ask for silverware, napkins, misc at every meal. There was a key card slot inside our room door also that you had to put your key card in to turn on the lights. I have never seen this in a hotel or resort. It was a way to pinch pennies I guess. Like I said, we had a wonderful trip, but it was not due to the resort. This resort falls seriously short of what we feel the rating was. We would not recommend this to anyone!

We were in buildng 3, beachfront. Very nice older building. My biggest complaint was the trash intermingled with the sea weed that was washed ashore, and the trash in the sand, where people had left cups, straws, etc. They need more trash cans and more attention to beach cleanup.

Review of Apple Onsite Rep

Mar 02 2016
On Friday before our departure on Saturday we met with the Apple Rep (Luis) to see what time we needed to be ready for our airport transportation. We had three bookings, 5 people total. He looked up our information and advised we needed to be in the lobby at 1:20 (we had a 3:15 flight). I was checked out and in the lobby at approximately 12:10 when Luis approached me to see where the rest of my party was. I advised that they were not yet ready and they still had an hour to arrive for the transportation. There was a bus outside the lobby and he said we had to be on that bus in the next 5 minutes if we wanted to get to the airport. I explained that that was not possible because the rest of my group were not yet ready as we had been told 1:20 was our time. He was very, very rude to me and said it was our fault even though he admitted he had told us 1:20 was our time. He said that we did not have our Apple paperwork when we saw him the day before. I advised that if he needed our paperwork he would have only had to ask and we would have been more than happy to go to our rooms and get he information. He looked on his Apple paperwork and verified all three bookings when he gave us the time. He told me I had 15 minutes to get all of my party to the lobby or we would not be provided transportation. To say that it was a very bad way to end the vacation is an understatement.

1. There was no Casino in the hotel. It has been closed to sometime. 2. Maid service was so so. They didn't leave enough towels and had to chase them down for water. 3. The description of the hotel says, take a stroll along the Marina. What Marina?, 20 minutes away. no live music at all. We were bldg 9, third floor with no elevator. Our balcony view was a ton of garbage across the way, not on the hotel property, but one would think they should had cleaned it.

The hotel was ok, the staff was not as attentive as I've seen in other resorts. The hotel room was old (very outdated) and it smelled really bad. I've had to wash my clothes twice to get the musty smell out. I realize it is on the ocean, but I have not had this experience wtih other ocean front rooms.

The good - not too many people in Puerto Plata (maybe it's coz Punta Cana is so much nicer), so no need to fight for a beach chair. The bad - hotel very stingy with food selection in kind and quality, slices of cheese instead of chunks for you to help yourself to, few options for fresh tropical fruits, not even a softserve machine or free popcorn and nachos (like Iberostar Dominicana in Punta Cana where we went to twice), and managers not really insight in restaurants or other areas of the property to oversee staff and keep things moving. The ugly - photographers with iguanas, local tour agents walking all over the property, even pool side, to pitch. Where's the peace and quiet I am looking for? And what about security and safety when there are all these 'strangers' all over the place? Nightly entertainment was bad - bathing suit contest for little girls? asking little boys to strut their stuff copying moves by male dancers? how sexist and disgusting! Punta Cana's Iberostar Dominicana was much, much better. And tons of sea grass on the beach and garbage galore at mouths of rivers bordering beach properties, these are no-man's land (not hotel property) so glass bottles, plastic junk everywhere, washing into the ocean. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Won't be going back to Puerto Plata for sure, and certainly not to Be Live Grand Marien. Head to Punta Cana's Iberostar Dominicana instead.

The ground are very beatuiful and the pools are great. Also, the food was quite good. There were very few people staying there at the time and most of them were older, not very outgoing and didn't take part part in many activities. We are 62 & 69 years old and found this hotel to be boring. We like to dance and there was very little chance for that, except to go to their disco late at night. The activity staff didn't get out and engage the guests as much as they should have. Some people we talked to said they liked this place because it was "very relaxing". If that's what you're after, it may be for you. However, we can relax at home.

Another great trip!!!

This was my 3rd trip to the resort with my family who have visited 5 times! Again wasn’t disappointed with the great staff at be live. As returning customers we were given a VIP room in block 9 and given adjoining rooms as requested. Was a lovely surprise to find a fruit platter in the room. Check in was very quick and we were ushered to the room on the golf buggy! Room had a few issues broken shower, no hairdryer and broken phone but we had 2 of the three fixed and we could use the phone in the other room. Maid service was a little slow some days and we would have to ring for towels. Buffet food was good, always lots of choice. Some waiting staff work hard others not so much so. Delores, jose and Isaias are all brilliant and could do Enough to help, they are the stars of the Buffett!!! The snack bar chef was brilliant and always made us fresh chips and pizzas! Animation team are amazing, always working so hard and making sure we have fun!! Ricky added new routines to the shows and as always they’re great entertainment in the evening. They also added a singer to the pool bar which was a nice touch! They should do this more often not just once a week! Mosquito, spaghetti, cesar, David Luis, valdamir you are simply the best 💓 Also the foam party was amazing!!! Franklin who does the hand painted T-shirts is lovely and did us some brilliant T-shirts for a great price! Big shout to Danny in the Brazilian, the best a la Carte at be live!!! Unfortunately we had to attend the hotel doctor who was amazing and we can’t say thank you Enough for looking after my sister!!! Joan and jose in the disco bar make the best cocktails, thanks guys! The people who complained about the rain... GET A LIFE!!! How can the management control the weather??? Also the person who said there was armed guards with machine guns, they are outside the complex security barrier and are police patrols for the casino and nightclub not the hotel. Unfortunately TUI are stopping flights from the UK in October 2018 as confirmed by Vicky, our rep so please all UK travellers, we need to write to TUI to ensure they know they demand is still required otherwise there will be no more flights to puerto plata from the UK from October 2018 🤬😩👎🏻

Great family trip and the resort was lovely. Something available for everybody and not too crowded even during peak season. The staff were helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant and breakfasts had lots of options. Rooms were clean and spacious. Pool and beach were both amazing. Overall a great place to relax.

Travelled with friends and my 13 year old daughter. I like to travel about twice a year. This resort is a good solid resort. For all you complainers out there you should base your reviews not on weather or Tour operator but on service, ambiance and food. All of which was good. There was a group of 7 of us and our recommendations were to have more bar tenders at the pool bar as the line ups got fairly long but the staff were always friendly. The free 1hr wifi is under a gazebo so if it rains you have no access without getting wet. I would recommend they move the wifi to the lobby. Our one couple friends upgraded to VIP and they were pleased with it. Shout out to Jose in the Disco as he provided top notch service! I enjoyed my time here but I will not return as i missed my Cuba blue water. Go and you will enjoy yourself. The mountain view is incredible!

I booked with sunwing for a good price $951 incl. medical insurance) - all inclusive to this resort. Requested a double bed room, recieved a king size bed room. Easy check in. The staff put a drink in our hands as we arrived. You need to pay $21USD for a lock/key for the safe. We did. They lost my bag somewhere. I packed backup clothing in my carryon (luckily). Hotel staff assured me I'd get it ASAP (got it within 24 hours). Our room was on the main floor (1st floor) closest to the entrance/exit of the hotel. BIG let down. The drunk teens were SUPER LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS until 4am. The sounds echoed through the hallways all night, every night. The hotel staff are not very nice to work with (front desk). I asked in person and over the phone to change rooms, they told me they didnt have any available until the next day. Next day, they didnt even bother calling us or looking into it. Swept under the rug. We gave up. Used eaeplugs all week. The cleaning ladies and everyone at the restaurants/buffet were amazing. The pool bar and snack bar employees, dont serve with a smile or interact much. Although im sure they deal with drunks all day/night. So I understand that. The beach doesnt have enough chairs/lounge seats for 50% of the resort on a nice sunny day. Also, people just leave their towels on them to claim them whether they are actually using it at the time or for a later time. There's 3-5 guys that sell souveniers - theyre super pushy and highly overpriced. Word of serious advice: DONT LET THEM SELL IT FOR THE PRICE THEY WANT. BUY IT ONLY FOR WHAT YOU WANT!! One of them came down from $150 for a painting to $30. Think about that.... The beer and wine is awful. The beer tastes cheap/watered down. The food however, amazing. Lots of diffferent variety. There's a show each night. Monday-Friday is very repetitive (mainly for kids). Saturday night was a big performance. Very awesome. The atv/dune buggying is an awesome adventure. DO IT. Also bring lots of 1 dollar (USD) money for this trip. Tips are expected after most excursions and for the bar. The pool always has awesome interactive games and music! Overall, had a good time!

Amazing staff and great beach, with forever view of beautiful mountain in the background

Well worth every penny, I didn't mind the tiny $3 US/day safe fee or even the limit placed on wifi usage location and time wise. Staff at this resort are super helpful and friendly. We got torrential rains for a few days of our visit, but they were always pleasant and working super-hard and quick to make their guests' vacation memorable and pleasant. (The horrible travelers who blame the resort for Mother Nature should be ignored.) They even provided everyone with a rental of one giant umbrella per room. We booked two rooms or our party of seven and they moved us to connecting rooms as soon as they could, our second day of the trip. Housekeeping was always super quick unlike other resorts we have stayed at. Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of the a la carte restaurants, but the buffet was always great. The Kids Club had the best staff ever, and Veronica was always so nice and friendly with my children. They loved going there. We'd go back to this resort in a heart beat. Need to explore Puerto Plata more next time. (Unrelated to the hotel, and through our travel operator, we did a half day tour of the city and mountain, which was nice, but we wish we had more time for some of the activities.) Overall, this place was better than the 5-star all-inclusive we had stayed in a couple of months earlier in Punta Cana. That earlier resort felt worse than it was labelled, and Be Live was much better than it was labelled.
