All Inclusive

A spectacular resort, set on a dazzling beach, the all-inclusive Barceló Punta Cana boasts 798 rooms with red Spanish-styled rooftops. The lobby, in warm tangerine hues, invites you to linger, with comfy seating under a chandelier, which amusingly also happens to house a birds nest! Sprawled parallel with the beach, this spacious hotel curves around gardens and features two large pools that are perfect for a refreshing dip.

Boredom is not an option at this adventurer's paradise! Fly through the air on a trapeze at the circus school, or test your strength and endurance on the rock-climbing wall. Then, gaze down at the spectacular ocean-view from the top. Children's programs are also available and include a playground, game room, pool, and more.

Entice your palate at one of seven specialty restaurants and after supper, don't forget to try your luck at the casino or take in one of the dynamic live shows in the forum-style theater. Before topping the evening off at the nightclub, stop by one of the late night bars for a nightcap. Finally, head off to your luxurious room to rest up for the next day's adventure.

Once youve had a good night's rest, why not start your day off in the gorgeous, fully-equipped spa? Enjoy relaxing in the hot tub, pampering yourself in the beauty salon, or melting away stress in one of many massage rooms.

Great Weekend

A bunch of friends and I (Seniors in college) just spent 6 nights at Occidental Caribe. Overall it was a great time and had a blast. The best bartenders on site were Dorotero and Yimi. Both of these gentleman were usually at the swim-up bar and were both extremely nice and fun to talk with. I also give high praise to the entertainment group, specifically Alex. He was very well mannered and provided a lot of fun for our group. Those three employees made our trip great!

This place is HORRIBLE !!!

First glance it looks pretty. This hotel at one time had to be really nice. I was with a party of 8 people so 4 couples. They tried to kill you with kindness upon entry with an upgrade but don't let this fool you they take you up to a special room with a bar and snacks and lots of people to serve you till your room is ready. Almost like they don't want you to see what going on all over there hotel!!!!! Never thought the worst sentence I could ever here was your rooms are ready. So we get escorted to our rooms by a staff member with a cart with our luggage on it. As we go down the elevator there are collage kids everywhere . Come out of the elevator to Profanity being used loosely . We start down the hall way to our room it was like one big dorm room of collage kids with there room doors open throwing beer at each other and running around cursing . So we continue on to our room to unpack. My room is a corner suite the has 2 bathrooms living room and bed room . Looking out of one of the 3 sets of sliding glass doors -were all of the hot tubs for the whole place right out our windows not 8 feet away. The yelling and partying was underway for the rest of the night. So I go to the safe to put away my valuables there is no key pad on the door to the safe it was removed so I'm five minutes in my room and had to call the desk for help. They send a security guard to fix it. So we unpack and shower to go meet our to eat so I close my door to my room and it opens by itself , so I slam the door now and it still opens by it self again . So I look at the door jam and it has been kicked in so there nothing for the door to latch and lock to. So call the desk again they send 2 security guards with worker to fix it. After about 40 minutes the door can close and lock. Not very pretty job but it locked . Just made it catch up with our friends to rant about this and eat hibachi. The food was horrible . After eating now its 11 at night there are kids all over this place so we decided to call it a night . Passed the front desk no one is there. On our way back to the rooms all we see is security guards every ten feet. Watching the collage kids like kindergarteners . These kids owned the hotel at night! They are destroying this place ........Went back to the room and made the TV as loud as possible to drowned out the noise of the frat house hotel.... got some sleep. The next morning we all went to front desk and demand a refund so they charged us for the night we slept there and gave plus a credit for the other 3 nights . Never stay at the occidental !!!!!!! Don't make accidental reservations at the occidental ever!!!!!

Great potential to be more than a 3 star. Go for the beach!

I have have read thru the very mixed reviews and was extremely hesitant about booking this hotel. Plz excuse typos and grammar...as I'm typing on my phone ...on the beach here. We usually stay at 4 and 5 star resorts....but this was a last minute booking with my college aged sons home for spring break. It is a 3 star but potential to be more. It is a lovely resort...food at buffet is just okay and I do enjoy the local food and trying different dishes...dinner buffet had a lot of choices but nothing appetizing....altho many vegetarian options for those who care....but meat and fish all overcooked...even the grilled made to order fajita meat ...chicken kabob good though. . I think they are so concerned about under cooking...that they over cook. I read the reviews with a discerning eye since its all about what your expectations are...we came with lower expectations ince this is our 5th time in Punta Cana ....i have good idea why people are complaining here....and the reviews are not far off...but u get what u pay for and i will provide suggestions on how to enjoy this place if u are on a budget. FYI. .I have stayed at Barcelo Bavaro Palace 3 times. ...and it's truly fantastic. ..but not only were their price skyrocketed for this week....more than twice than what we paid here...they were booked. Also love Now Larimer. But prices also escalated. We had other choices including Melia Tropical and Magestic and Occidental Punta Cana in our price range but chose Occidental Caribe because I am a beach lover and my boys love the pool....and this hotel is located right on the beach....unlike the others which may be on the beach but hotel rooms are a 10-15 minute walk or u need to take a golf cart. We prefer quick access to the facilities, our room, without having to schlep everything to the beach and a restaurant on the beach. So....here we are now. Day 2. Check in: you can check in fairly quickly but you won't have access to the room key until after 4 pm. They advise u to come back at 320 pm to get your key....but everyone checking in that day Is told the same thing. Only 2 people providing keys does make the lines sloooow and can take a few hours. I thought the reviews were exaggerated. ..but nope. ..it's true. Don't blame the patient front desk people. ..blame it on poor management. They read tgese reviews but gave nm it done anything to change this poor Check in system....don't go to get your key when everyone else does.....just pack ur bathing suit and grab lunch..a drink at the lobby bar...excellent mojitos...good to tip bartenders...they appreciate it... limited top shelf here...beach bar is terrible...all generic brands and overly sweet machine frozen drinks.. . Stick to lobby bars for good drinks....go to the beach or pool...there is a quiet pool away from spring breakers...near kids water park and trampoline. ..which is very nice. ....and by 630...u won't have a long wait. They have already assigned you a room. Room: We booked a superior ocean front room on the Barcelo.com site. We are in room 3414. Two double beds with balcony. Smallish but fine. Beautiful views.3 people with free transfers and free WiFi. ..was about $325 a night with tax or $100 pp per night. It's a good deal since WiFi is $49 for the week and taxis I think wye be $60 round trip. You have to search for deals on the site as they seem hidden. .it's fine...nice view of ocean but more of a Sideview. ..not complaining. I think we are in a renovated room but not sure...very basic. ..akin to a holiday Inn. ..clean..yes..limited towels so had to request more....late night beach music is loud tho. ..I brought ear plugs. Restaurants: only tried buffet so far. Breakfast buffet was very good. Omelet stations. ..fresh fruit. ..lotsa choices. Lunch buffet at seafood restaurant was terrible. Truly. The main buffet was already closed at 230 so we had no choice. Made reservations in the morning at Japanese. .French. .and Italian. Hope they are good. Bad towel situation: tried to get beach towels at 3:00 pm...none available. we were told to comeback in15 minutes...still none. ..and thereafter. .no towels...so just get them early since they don't seem to have enough towels of any kind for guests. This had been posted many times by others. Management needs to address this since this is such a basic expectation for guests. Bottom line. Come for the beach. Convenience. Reasonable prices. Beautiful hotel grounds and lobby. It has potential. Expect slow service. Slow check in. Mediicre food. Staff is wonderful. Language barrier but I like practicing my Spanish. Good for a short vacation not for a full week. Celebrating my birthday here so making the best of it.

Service is decent, food is AWFUL, property still needs updates.

Since my last review was deleted by TripAdvisor for covering too many topics I guess this one will have to be shorter. The food is absolutely disgusting, the beach is amazing, lots of people smoke at this resort, if you want a lounger by the pool get it early, pay the staff with dollar tips for anything and everything you need (water, towels, drinks, etc.), ATM was broke for the whole week, so make sure you take US dollars for tips. Don't deal with Yissel Estrella in the hospitality department - she'll ruin your anniversary dinner reservations. Hopefully that's short enough this time and also helps you somehow; it's pretty concise.

So I went knowing that the reviews probably weren't the best but this hotel was awesome! We arrived to check in at 4pm and our room was ready right away. Super big and clean. The pool is huge and always had plenty of chairs, as well as the beach which got crowded after 10am. The beach is full of people trying to sell things which is the only bad thing. But the entertainment crew was awesome especially Jorge who did the volleyball every morning he was great. The nightly shows were pretty good too actually. The restaurants were by reservation only which was dumb cause they were always empty, but very worth it. The steak house was amazing as well as the Italian. We did the dune buggy excursion which is totally worth it. The staff all seemed helpful and I had no major issues except I asked for my TV to be fixed 3 nights in a row and no one ever came so I had no TV all trip. The buffet is decent, always could find at least one thing. Def recommend this place for the money.
