All Inclusive

A spectacular resort, set on a dazzling beach, the all-inclusive Barceló Punta Cana boasts 798 rooms with red Spanish-styled rooftops. The lobby, in warm tangerine hues, invites you to linger, with comfy seating under a chandelier, which amusingly also happens to house a birds nest! Sprawled parallel with the beach, this spacious hotel curves around gardens and features two large pools that are perfect for a refreshing dip.

Boredom is not an option at this adventurer's paradise! Fly through the air on a trapeze at the circus school, or test your strength and endurance on the rock-climbing wall. Then, gaze down at the spectacular ocean-view from the top. Children's programs are also available and include a playground, game room, pool, and more.

Entice your palate at one of seven specialty restaurants and after supper, don't forget to try your luck at the casino or take in one of the dynamic live shows in the forum-style theater. Before topping the evening off at the nightclub, stop by one of the late night bars for a nightcap. Finally, head off to your luxurious room to rest up for the next day's adventure.

Once you've had a good night's rest, why not start your day off in the gorgeous, fully-equipped spa? Enjoy relaxing in the hot tub, pampering yourself in the beauty salon, or melting away stress in one of many massage rooms.

Pleasant tropical vacation, but...

If you are not going to party at nights, BRING EAR PLUGS with you. The noise throughout the night was unbearable by passing parties, and yelling, singing and stumbling in the hallways. But this is our only complaint. FRONT DESK: Cassandra and Rene were very pleasant and affable and we didn't have any problem with check-in. GROUNDS: clean, well-maintained with an excellent mosquito control. ROOM: our first room in the building 7 was not renovated, but still in good condition. Our next room in the building 2 (quieter area) was renovated. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, with breathtaking views. HOUSEKEEPING: hotel definitely needs more housekeepers. FOOD: typical for 4 star all-inclusive resort. Not fantastic, but satisfactory. RESTAURANTS: main buffet Alcazar and la carta restaurants were very clean with an excellent service. BARS: typical for 4 star all-inclusive resort. Maybe even above average. But, please, do not expect to get top brand beverages: they are not included. The service was very good. GYM: good. POOLS: all three pools are very clean and well-maintained. Main pool with swim-up bar and a lot of entertainment is very popular. "Quiet" pool with beautiful fountains, whirlpool and underwater shaded loungers is created for relaxation. And mini-waterpark pool for kids is charming. JACUZZI are located by the main pool. Nice and clean. ANIMATION: satisfactory. THEATER / SHOWS: bright and professional. And the best part of the resort is: ... BEACH !!! Oh, it is wonderful !! White sand and crystal clear turquoise water. You could walk for miles in either direction. There are no palapas (beach huts), but a lot of shaded places under the palms. And it is not necessary to get up early in the morning to occupy the loungers in the shade: there are plenty of them. BUT... the ocean water is rough (yellow flag) and it could be dangerous for little kids and those who can't swim. But it is a paradise for swimmers! CLIENTELE: the majority of clients are people from Russia. A lot of beautiful single Russian girls! In general we are very pleased with our vacation and we recommended it for everybody. Our special thanks to Reina Rincon (front desk): we met her during our first visit to Barceló Punta Cana and were happy to see her again. As always she was very helpful and professional. We also appreciated the excellent service that was provided by housekeeper Antonina (room 2312). We'd like to be sure that our kind remarks regarding Reina and Antonina will be passed on to them.

After reading some of the reviews I was expecting the worse check in to my surprise Ambar did the check-in (2 adults and 3 kids) and was nice and smooth. She explained that the room was not ready but told us where to drop off our bags and to go lunch from the buffet... Buffet was nice and simple something for everyone including the kids... At 3:05 we was escorted to our room and we just wanted to change and take the kids to the pool and start our drink on! And so we did.... By the way before heading out to the pool we stopped and made reservation at the Japanese restaurant and it was a very easy process. Next day spent the day by the pool and Ismael and his coworker was just as helpful and caring... Make sure we had drinks and told us what else to try, this day we had lunch at the Mexican restaurant and I wish I could remember the two ladies (greeter and server) names because they were just amazing... So friendly and helpful. We was able to make reservation to the seafood restaurant and our server Luis took good care of us. Overall we enjoyed our stay.. yes the room and bathroom could use some upgrades/fixing but I was not there to stay in the room.. the kids also enjoyed the water park.. we enjoy it some much I was hoping to stay another night.

We stayed at occidental caribe for 5 days and it was the best 5 days ever! We didn't want to leave!!! The people were so friendly the location was beautiful and we were lucky enough to experience the foam pool party and beach party which was so cool!! Make sure to bring cash because some places don't accept card and the ATM only gives pesos!! If your considering vacationing here DO NOT HESITATE. Book now you won't regret it!!!

Worst Accomodations ever!!!

Horrible experience; no toiletries; no bath towels; room had hair on sink & tub area. Dirty; food quality is poor; lots of flies; lack of variety or quick items (cereal, oatmeal); no pool service. Wall are paper-thin so very noisy and difficult to sleep. Lack of bilingual staff. Staff not at all accommodating at check-in.

Never Again! BEWARE

I do not even know where to begin. This being my second trip to Punta Cana, my expectations were definitely not met! Looking at the website, I was impressed and looking forward to staying at this resort. The website is truly misleading. I did not see any of the luxury that was advertised. I'll start with the check in. This was the most dreadful process and set the tone for my vacation. Yenifer was the absolute worst and should seek to do something other than customer service. There was some miscommunication between barcelo.com, the hotel, and the customers. She became frustrated and was not willing to seek a solution. She walked away leaving us standing there and Ambar did a great job of stepping up to help. We asked for the manager, and Carlos came. He was of no help and did a poor job as well. After Ambar remained persistent and got the issue resolved, here comes Yenifer ready to take over...NO THANK YOU. The room situation was not good, one of the couples in our party required six room changes before they were given an acceptable room. It is obvious that the hotel is under renovation but the mold and uncleanliness is not acceptable. Then there were people breaking up concrete in front of the hotel at noon, right as guest w were leaving and arriving! The food at the resort is sub par. During the stay, I dined at the Japenese, Italian, Seafood and pizza bar. All were ok except the Italian. I felt like i was served Chef Boyardee, it was totally inedible. The buffet was terrible. You ate because eating is a necessity for life, not because it was good. There was also the night time snack bar that had good chicken. Drinks were not good either. Luckily I found one thing that was good and I just stuck to it all week. What I dont understand is how a most bartenders didn't know what I was refering to when asking for the drink and its named after the hotel. There is a HUGE lack as it comes to customer service. Most people do not speak English so they just nod and reply si' no matter what the question. The people who work here look unhappy and they are really rude. Raphael is an exception to this he was helpful. The spa and casino workers are really pushy. I already had intentions on going to the spa. I was hounded by workers everyday to come down stating that they work on commission. Once I made an appointment, not one person spoke ever again. I don't remember my masseuse name, but she was good. The prices are extremely high though. The house keeping staff is terrible. The either come at the crack of dawn or not at all. I had to chase them down daily to get a face towel. My minibar was never stoked correctly. She just kept adding Coors Light, which never even got touched. All other rooms had a welcome bottle of alcohol, my room did not. As far as rooms go, I have no idea why I paid for an upgrade. The superior room is no different than any other. There is no upgrade all the rooms and basic and need to be updated. There are some rooms that back up to the RIU property. This is a bad idea because you can see how much fun you could be having. The only thing that this hotel has going is the view. Every room has a balcony and if you have a pool/ ocean view it is absolutely beautiful. The activities department is lacking. They post a daily schedule and when I showed up to do somethings I was told "not right now" or they simply didn't happen. Both of the pools need repair, the pool with the bar is exceptionally nasty. I never found the "Jacuzzi" that was advertised. The pool bar was not fun. The little entertainment that did occur was confined to one little corner of the pool. The casino is a rip off and should be closed. They have the worst service. After about two minutes I had to leave because I was so uncomfortable. I could go on and on about the terrible place that this is. As a travel professional and a customer I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT ON OR BOOK ANOTHER VACATION AT THIS "RESORT". My advice would be to close down for a week or two, complete some renovations and do some team building exercises and customer service training. I am not exaggerating, the experience was really that bad.
