This was our seventh visit to this resort, this time we stayed two weeks, and for good reasons. From the lobby to the beach the staff work very hard to keep things clean and tidy. Smiles are everywhere, and we still have ours. Upon arrival Cinthia Rojas and Victoria Mata were at the Premium Guest Services and were always available for assistance. Ok so how about the food? The buffet has a different theme nightly. Breakfast and lunch are served at the buffet as well as the beach front snack bar grills. So many things to choose from, something for everyone and its all good. We had prime rib in the buffet and it was very tender taste great, pizza, ,fish, chicken, steak. cheeses, vegetables, fruits, breads, desserts, also a children's station. The specialty restaurants require reservations, long pants & shoes for men. Our favorite is the Santa Fe steak house where Rafael Mitchell the mgr. is a great host doing all he can to make sure your dinning experience is wonderful, from the moment Georgina greets and seats you until the last sip of Mayan coffee made at your table( flames and all) you will be satisfied. His steaks and lamb chops are to die for!! We also dined at the Capri where Eddie and his staff were equally as happy to provide excellent service and meals. The Oceans was very good as well. Rooms: We stayed in the Yucatan room 7201 a superb premium room. The location was close to everything and perfect. Our room had a bottle of Champagne and chocolate tray upon arriving. Thank you Alan, Damaris and Rafael for all you did to accommodate us, making us feel like the King and Queen!! The resort itself has much to offer from excellent snorkeling to dolphin shows on site daily. There are plenty of fun water parks for the kids to choose from. The mall is amazing filled with more fun things like shopping, sports bar bowling, casino, disco and more. Whatever you need, just ask. Barcel├│ was always do what they can to make it happen. Shout out to ALL the Barcel├│ staff. There are just so many special people who made it happen! Thank you to you all! Our favorite bartender was Ernesto at Bar Tequila. Our 8th visit is being planned! We love the Barcel├│ and you will too!

We will be back next year!

We arrived to Barcelo on Monday, February 10th right at check in time. We booked with Delta Vacations and the transfer driver wasn't sure where to drop us off. We initially stopped at the Beach and was told to go to Colonial and then the bell service said Tropical. We had requested the Colonial but we were ok with being dropped off at Tropical. Later we found out the reasoning for the Tropical drop off. The Delta employee had a desk in the Lobby and anyone who booked with Delta Vacations had their own area for speedy check-in and check-out at the front desk. They saw all our requests for our rooms (not on the 1st floor, king bed, next to our family and in Colonial) The Colonial didn't have any king sized beds available so we took a Tropical room and the family we traveled with was one floor above us. It was perfect. The main reason why I wanted to make sure I wrote this review was the awesome service that we got from our bartender, Asuncion Solis (See pictures). He was extremely attentive, fun and showed great service. We would find him in the Tropical lobby bar some days and other time he was at the Tropical swim-up bar. Whenever he saw us he would personally come over with our favorite shots and shake all of our hands, chat for a few moments and go right back to work. He was always super entertaining at the bar and made it fun for everyone. This man deserves a raise! The grounds were immaculate and clean. You always see groundsmen sweeping, painting, landscaping all over the premises. There wasn't much wildlife- a few iguanas, few birds (thanks to the hawks) and no coaties. We never did see any sea turtles in the water but tons of fish. The beach is long and you get different things from each part. Yes, some areas are extremely rocky but great for snorkeling. If you go further south on the beach there is less waves and no rocks. There is something for everyone. We however, spent most of our time by the pool where you could get drinks and the great service from Asuncion. We also ended up sitting by the pool in the same spot everyday because we ended up meeting dozens of people from the Midwest who we got to know during our trip. Tropical pool is awesome, great waitresses that came around taking drink orders, entertainment and bartenders. In our group that we traveled with weren't big breakfast eaters, we typically drink protein shakes in replacement. However, they did offer fruit smoothies with was a nice alternative. We did do the eggs made to order section of the buffet some mornings and I typically just had bowl of cereal just so I could get something in my belly. The buffets in Caribe and Beach are slightly more updated and they did offer a Crepe section where you could make to your liking. It was sad not seeing many people tip this people (egg/omelet and crepe cooks). For lunches we would always do the open air lunch buffets right by the Tropical swim up. They had an awesome variety of food. One day we did adventure to the Beach section because someone heard the lunch was the best down there. It honestly, wasn't any different than the Tropical (maybe a slightly better view of the beach?). We only ate buffet dinners/supper one time and the rest were at the ala carte restaurants. With Delta Vacations it doesn't matter how many nights you stay you get unlimited restaurant reservations. We tried the Seafood, Italian (In Tropical), Japanese (In Colonial, Steakhouse and the Japanese (In the Maya Mall). All were great and offered options for everyone at our table. Tuesday was Valentines Day and they gave all the women roses when going to dinner. there was balloons everywhere, the waiters had lipstick kisses on their cheeks, big LOVE signs to take pictures and champagne glasses stacked in heart shapes with red drinks for you to take. The theater show that night was a competition of different couples- which was entertaining. The rest of the nights were hit and miss with the shows. We also enjoyed the Circus and Michael Jackson. I was last at Barcelo in 2010 before the Maya Mall was built. This is a great addition to the property. We did entertain the casino one night and played roulette. They have a club, bar, bowling alley (service in the bowling alley was awful, so we never went back), mini golf, haunted house, shopping and an ice cream parlor. All worth checking out at least once on your trip. We are already looking at booking our trip for 2018 and this time we are hoping to bring a big group with us. I just want to say it again.... our favorite part about Barcelo was Asuncion's service in the bar areas!!! See pictures below of what the Resort did to make Valentine's Day special.

We just returned from an amazing week at the Barcelo resort. We were in the Tropical section Yucatán building room #7307 premium level. When you arrive, the resort seems massive and intimidating, but within a couple days we had our bearings and found everything we needed. Our only disappointment was not being able to book more ala cart dinners during our stay. We made our reservations as soon as we arrived but most evenings were unable to get anything before 10 pm, we got one reservation for 6:30 and one for 8:30. Thankfully the buffets were huge with anything you would possibly want, we tried several different buffets just for a change of scenery. There are two different open air theatres and the nightly entertainment rotates between the two (don't miss the Michael Jackson impersonator) we didn't realize this until 5 days in when we found the full weekly schedules for both in the lobby hallway near the cash machines, the board near the pools only list the entertainment scheduled for that evening. A special shout out to Alfredo Bacab in the Colonial buffet, he made our last breakfast very memorable, very hardworking and kind!

6th time, still love it, will be back next year

We were at the tropical from February 7 to February 16, 2017. Love the place. This was our sixth straight year. The people remember you year to year. It's like a family. Great food, drinks. The entertainment is unbelievable. All professional. I've been going to the Caribbean for 25 years. This is the best entertainment. The beach is a mile long. Dolphin show is great. Have got to mention these people, Daniel at tequila bar, Isabel at premium club, Berzain Martinez and Carlos Ortiz at breakfast buffet and Antonio and Victor the bellman. Great job by everyone.
