We had a great time. Jose, (Bartender) seemed to be everywhere making sure we always had a fresh drink with a smile and a handshake. Jose and the rest of the staff provided us with a great vacation. We will be back.

We stayed for a week at this resort for our wedding anniversary and were greeted with champagn and cookies in our room. Although the resord could not provided the requested kingsize bed they offered to move us later in the week when one became available. The room, housekeeping, restaruants, and pool were excellent. The volume of the music in the nightly entertainment was so loud it was hard to enjoy on some nights. The water sport available at this resort esceed those at other Mexian or Carribean resorts we have visited and we really appreciated being able to sail in the beautiful bay. You did have to make it to the pool area before 9 am to save a lounge with a towel and before 7 if you wanted one with shade. The ala carte reservation process is inconveneient but we were able to make a reservation for every night there with only a 10 to 15 minute wait in line. The breakfast and lunch buffets were pretty much thte same each day but were delicious. Special thanks to Myra at the Dona Rosa lunch grill and the lady at breakfast making the crepes and omlets!! Javier and Nemiian did a great job with pool side entertainment and Franciscio was great at the water sport desk. The weather was perfect--in the upper 80's every day with rarely a cloud in the sky. We were pleasantly surprised with the flight after reading some reviews for the charter service--3.5 hours from STL to HUX was awesome. However the airline needs to coordinate a little better with immigration since we had to sit on the plane 45 minutes when we returned because there was not an available gate.

Barcelo Beach/Pool, shows

There isn't enough lawn chairs for all the guest to sit out of the sun. When you travel from a cooler climate your not use to the 90+ degree heat. They could provide umbrellas on the beach for guest unable to get a palapa. They should allow guest to save lawn chairs. We come to the beach and pool at 7am and there would be 1 towel draped over 4 chairs. The area by the beach covered doesn't provide protection from the sun on the first roll. They need to extend the cover to provide more shade areas. The night time shows are very dated. Why not be the first resort to provide more current shows.

The resort was good but the flight wasn't the best. When you pay for premier seating and get nothing from it, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Shame on you Apple

This was the best trip we have taken so far. The pool, beach, and common areas were kept very nicely. Our room and mini bar were cleaned and stocked daily. Housekeeping stopped out our room three times a day, once to clear, once to fill the mini bar, and once for clean towels if needed. The restaurants were the best, excellent food, and wait staff.

The staff was excellent. Nice variety of food and it was always fresh and delicious. The front desk needs to communicate with the guests , when you give your guests paperwork they need to explain what it is for. The hotel needs to provide MORE shade around the pool, were you eat and on the beach. I will say if you are a beach person this is not the place for you. If the beach is not important to you then this is a lovely place for holiday.

Motel lacks adequate seating and shade areas around the pool and on the beach. You shouldn't have to fight to get a chair on a paid vacation. Also, if you have to pay for internet- it should work it your room. you shouldn't have to pay for internet and sit in the lobby to use it in a 5-star resort.

This was our honeymoon and the resort did very little to make it special!!! They sent one bottle of champagne to our room on day one and nothing else,I was told if we wanr Ted anything else we would have to pay extra! Just disappointed. Also our shower leaked all over the bathroom floor causing me to fall one night. It would take 2 to 3 towels to soak up the water. Nothing done about they didn't even seem to care I fell.it just seemed they could of done more to make it special, like the Apple representative said they would if we showed them we just got married!

We had a great experience at the Barcelo in Huatulco. The people are friendly and the time was very well spent. Saul Zurita was great at making delicious drinks, he was very friendly and always looked after us making sure we have something to drink, he cared about us so that we are having a great time at the resort! Very nice guy and he is very good at making drinks."

Overall we enjoyed the resort. Its in a beautiful location with a decent beach area. The room we got was spacious, clean and well maintained with a partial ocean view, even though we didnt pay for more than a standard room. The food in the buffet and a la carte restaurants was pretty good..not spectacular but acceptable. Tnere are a few areas for improvement. 1. I feel that in this day and age free wifi should be standard, at least in the common areas. This is one of the few hotels we've encountered where you have to pay for wifi. When I complained about this I was told we could upgrade to the premium package for a fee or pay per day for the wifi. This is not something we were prepared to do. What we did was go across the street to the coffee shop and buy a coffee and get wifi. We found out later that once you've connected to that WiFi, you could sit at the end of the hotel driveway and connect to the coffee shop wifi. 2. We had a coupleof issues with the a la carte restaurants. One was that there was always a lineup that started to form long before the reservation desk opened every morning. If you didnt get in line chances were that the restaurants would be full. I don't feel that I want to spend my time on vacation waiting in line to make dinner reservations. Also, you couldn't make them ahead. I feel that there should be a better system for reserving the a la cartes. The second issue is the dress code for men. Huatulco is usually extremely hot. Why make the men wear long pants and closed toed shoes on vacation? My husband was turned away from the Japanese restaurant because he was wearing leather dress sandals that were open toed. He had on a cotton dress shirt and dress slacks. Other men were being let in with sneakers (they meet the closed toe rule!) or we saw one man with dark socks and flip flops that was let in. This doesn't make sense at all. I have to say that other than these issues the resort was very nice. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Huatulco is a very beautiful, safe area. This was our third time in Huatulco and we will be back. The weather is a sure thing, always hot and sunny. Taxis are plentiful, reliable and inexpensive. Overall its a great place for a winter vacation.

Excellent Family Vacation!

We just arrived home from our week vacation at Barceló Huatulco. The resort is beautiful. They greet you with a cold drink and cool towel because it is really hot in Huatulco. They try to get you into your room as soon as possible, I’m assuming because it’s hot and all you want to do is put your bathing suit on. We chose the premium level and I would highly recommend doing so. The premium level has its own check in area with a waiter who serves food and drinks while you wait for your room. The premium level also includes 24 room service. So if the kids got hungry before dinner it was just a phone call away. They have a variety of daily activities, pool games, bingo, archery, mini golf, tennis, basketball, soccer and much more. They have a kids play ground, arcade and daily kid activities. The premium level included a mini bar which was restocked daily and that was so perfect since we were on the go the entire trip. The buffets are good (there are 2) and they change the types of food everyday so you don’t get bored. The Mexican restaurant was very good and I highly recommend it. The sushi restaurant is not very good and the Italian is also not that great. The service is really good in all 3 restaurants and both buffets. The waiters are very attentive, really friendly and fast. The room service food is very good. The pools are very busy. You just need to be patient to find a spot. I see people putting their towels on a spot for hours while they go eat and that is annoying. I think it would be hard for the resort to control that. The pool side service was very good. The waiters are very friendly and hustle all day to keep everyone with a cold drink. There is an adult pool, kid pool and a family pool. The rooms are very clean. They are well kept and the maids do a great job. The shows are nightly and they are entertaining. They serve drinks and snacks during the shows. On Friday nights they do a Mexican night it was my favorite! It’s like a block party. It’s outside and its a bunch of stands of Mexican foods and desserts. They do Mezcal tasting and everything is included at no additional cost. They have games for the kids and music playing. It was really fun. The Marachi band was amazing! There is no shortage of food or drinks. It seemed like we were eating all day and night. The lobby is clean. The bar is nice and the bands are good. The Spa is very nice. Spa service is not included but it is very reasonably priced. The beach is right on the property and it is very clean and nice. They have chairs out there and palapa’s to sit under. They also provide drink service on the beach. The water is a little rough. Use caution with kids. We did a couple of tours. We did the 7 beach tour and snorkeling. Saw turtles and dolphins. That was amazing and I highly recommend it. Bring a water proof camera or GoPro the video footage is amazing underwater. We did the Cascadas (waterfall tour) it was a little scary. It takes almost 2 hours to get there and the dirt road is very narrow. Rough ride and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The waterfalls are amazing and it was worth the trip but to be honest it was very scary. We took a trip to San Agustin it was really nice and the food was delicious! We snorkeled there too, it was really good snorkeling but the current is rough and you get tired fast. Overall I would recommend Barceló and I will come back. I really loved it! The people who claim it is outdated or needs work, don’t consider the nature of the weather there. It’s hot, humid and rains. It’s difficult to fight Mother Nature. In my opinion the resort is beautiful, clean and has great service! I would also recommend that you take a lot of change. It’s not required but I liked to tip my waiters. I think they work really hard all day and I think they deserve it. There were 4 of us. My husband and myself, my 2 daughters 18 and 8. They all really enjoyed it.

Highly recommended

Had a great family vacation here. Stood in a standard room and we still had a view for the beach, nice balcony. Room almost perfect except for the shower not so impecable. Great beds and pillows, nice and very clean bed sheets and towels. The staff is really nice and friendly. Good entertainment at night. But the best of this hotel is their buffet menus: fresh, tasty and delicious food either mexican or international. Amazing that for the amount of customers they have they handle great quality in delicious meals. I will definitely go back.
