Normally, when we go on vacation, we go to a new place. This is the only place, where we were twice. Great experience, good food, wonderful people and great memories. Very quiet and unique part of Mexico...and we loved the private snorkeling tour! More>

Stayed here second week of April 2016 with my wife and 2 sons aged 4 and 2.5. Barcelo is a great and clean resort for families. Has 3 little pools for adults, kids and games. Kids loved the pool with slides. Lifeguard Carlos was awesome with kids. very interactive and yet insured kids safety in the pool. Weather was awesome. Very few clouds over 7 days. Very warm with a nice breeze. Beach is beautiful, clean and fairly comfortable but different. It's not powder sand but rather consists of small particles of sea shells. Great foot massage from beach walking. Beware of water if you are not a swimmer. Strong undertow. (Don't mix up with rip current which is worse.) Undertow can easily sweep off feet. If you swim, you will be fine and actually might enjoy riding the waves which get pretty big sometimes. However Don't let kids near the ocean. My wife took our little one and went waist deep, in a moment she was swept off and couldn't touch bottom, luckily I was close enough to help. There is a spot however in front of the big rock (hill) which has an area where water is calmer. We had a good time playing with kids there where as waves come, its half a foot deep. Water is clear and beautiful color. Awesome scenery. Hotel Staff are very friendly and people in general in Huatulco are friendly. It was our first time in Mexico and we expected Americanized resorts but Huatulco wasn't and we loved it. We also expected amazing food based on what people were saying about Mexico in general but although food was good it wasn't much different than other places we visited in the Caribbean. What we didn't like is restaurant service. Everyone was friendly but at the buffet very often the only time we saw a waiter or waitress was when we were seated. Very few times we were asked if we want drinks. Dirty plates piled up to the end. No one would take them. Maybe once during meals. It felt that they were understaffed because we wouldn't get much attention. Many times after meals we wouldnt know whom to tip. The only remarkable server I can point out is Juan de Lira. Always pleasant and attentive. In comparison to others he was more than exceptional. Made our experience with services much more pleasant. Also sometimes the rooms were cleaned close to 5pm... I think it's too late for room service. Speaking of rooms they were clean and fairly modern. Great views floors 3 and up. Overall we had amazing time and would definitely return. Highly recommend but it depends what one is looking for in a vacation. If you are looking for a clean resort that had kids friendly pool, beautiful scenery and nature, great weather, good food and exceptional entertainment team this is the resort to visit. Be sure to visit Entrega Beach which is half an hour taxi ride away from Barcelo. It has wonderful beach, calm clear water and wonderful snorkeling area with a little cave inside which you can swim into. We hope to return again soon. More>

The place is amazing, with a very clean beach and the service is really cool, but if you go for a weekend and need WiFi you need to pay a extra fee, that's ridiculous I think. And the mini golf needs some cleaning More>

Family had a wonderful time but I had a terrible accident!

I recently vacationed at the Barcelo Huatulco Resort and started my vacation in a happy note. We arrived on a Tuesday late in the afternoon. We enjoyed a pleasant dinner at Dona Rosas in the patio area and then headed to the lobby bar. As usual, we had a wonderful time at the bar. Hernan the bartender was very efficient and friendly. As was Jose, the bartender who relieved him. The following day I had a wonderful time at the pool. My family which consisted of a group of twenty had a blast in the pool. We participated in the name that tune game and danced and sang like no tomorrow. In particular my daughter Olivia, who can dance like a pro. That evening I went to bed. Happy and content in my heart and soul, but then the shadows lurked in with the rain to ruin my vacation. At around 3:00a.m. I woke to go to the bathroom. As I got out of bed I slipped and fell on the wet floor that was flooding my room. Falling face first, I ended up cutting my inner front lip and broke my front tooth. I was in so much pain that I thought I had broken all my front teeth. We immediately called the front desk for assistance and they informed us that my room had flooded because rainwater had trickled down from the fifth floor stairs, to the fourth floor stairs, down to the third floor stairs, and into the hallway in the third floor where I slept in room 361. I was very lucky to be treated by the hotel's doctor and referred to Dr. Jorge Blanco who patched up my tooth. The days that followed were not pleasant. I was in pain, very swollen and couldn't eat. The manager was very kind to assist me by asking the chef to make special soups and meals. The chef was so sweet and kind. He would magically appear where ever I sat down and offered his services. The restaurant waiters went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of and to offer kind words. Since my return to California I have had several doctor appointments and had a CAT scan done. I will get my results today and hope all is well. My doctor doesn't think there is any neurological damage lets hope things are okay. PLEASE STAY OUT OF ROOM 361. I have given the hotel several options on how to prevent this from ever happening to anyone else. I have also communicated with their hotel insurance providers. Hopefully they will take action and correct the problem. Miguel Lopez, hotel director, thank you for all your help. You were a true gentlemen. Please be advice. Life is good, life is short, and accidents can happen even in paradise! Maria L. Gutierrez Santa Paula, California Accident suffered 7/28/2016 More>

This was our second time to Barcelo resort. The second trip was even better than our one. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The food was good with alot of variety. The entire staff from bartenders to waiters to entertainment were all super. The lead lifeguard, Juan Carlos, went out of his way to pool games with the kids. We didn't want to leave the paradise of Huatulco and cannot wait to go back. We will definitely stay at Barcelo again!! More>
