We stayed from April 6th to April 12th 2015, I traveled with my wife (36) and my 2 daughters (6 and 11), everything was wonderful, beach, installations, rooms, events, restaurants, we really had a good time. The only areas of opportunity I can mention are:
1) Internet WI-FI.- This was a concern all the time, I don't know if it was because of the room we were at (341), but the connection was either very slow or nothing at all. It was good in other areas of the hotel such as the lobby or in the first floor, but not in our room. I highly recommend that this is fixed, because this might be a reason why customers are not coming back, given all competitors they have in the area.
2) Pools.- Two things: 1) They should have a bigger or deeper pool for adults that can swim; and 2) They should reinforce the security in this area, we were able to see drunk adults going and using the pool reserved for kids and they were even going through the slides/sledges, this was very dangerous as they can hit and hurt kids playing in that zone. I was there, and had to take my little girl out of the pool, we were very disappointed.
3) Restaurants.- I highly recommend they make an expansion to the Japanese restaurant, we were extremely lucky to be able to visit and have dinner there. They only have like 5 or 6 table in total. My favorite restaurant was the Spanish and in second place is the Japanese....you can't miss them!
In summary, I'd definitely recommend this hotel, and I'd also look for staying at other Barcelo hotels somewhere else.
Best Regards all,

This resort is great. I have been there twice and have been impressed both times and would return again. From buffets under the stars, nightly entertainment , a beautiful beach(too rough for swimming),consistently good food at all the eateries, well kept lush grounds ,clean pools, and top notch staff!SPEAKING OF STAFF-I would like to say that Samuel Flores is the Best ,helpful and informative and welcoming. An excellent ambassador for the hotel!!
This hotel fronts onto a small and tasteful shopping area, very charming and a great place for a walk anytime ,a drink and of course a shop.
The overall ambience at this resort is safe, fun and friendly.I do not have children ,however this is also a family with kids dream resort.
Great time in Huatulco!

The hotel was very clean. Each night the patio was scrubbed after the evening supper, the pool chairs were hosed down each night and dusted off the next morning by maids, the pool attendant was visible all day long, cleaning the pool and scooping debris. Waiters were always coming by to take drink orders and remove empty glasses.
The staff were very friendly and warm. Service was very quick and there was no waiting to get a table for meals. Juanita Ramirez always had a smile for us at breakfast.
The food selection was a mix of Canadian and Mexican dishes, and the quality was very good.
The animation team was amazing! Jonathan and Victor got us involved in many activities - water aerobics, beach volleyball, zumba and salsa lessons, crazy games and bartending class. We now have 2 new Mexican amigos that we can't wait to see again!
The singers and dancers in the nightly stage show put on a great show every night, and they joined in the activities during the afternoon. Carlos, Pedro and Toti were very attractive in their red swimsuits.
It was nice that half of the guests were Mexican, and we could meet and mingle with them without any problem. It is a smaller resort, so you get to know one another during the course of the week.
On two nights the hotel hosted an outdoor fiesta with a mariachi band and the hotel's singers, dancers and band. It was very Mexican, and we had a great time.

We stayed at the Barceló from March 31/15 to April 7/15. The resort was the perfect size; small enough to be intimate and get around easily. The amenities were impressive for the resort size. The staff and service were great - really enjoyed the a la carte's. We stayed in an un-renovated room, but given the amount of time we spend there (none) we didn't mind it at all. Do wish the beds were queens size, not double.
The kids loved the kid's pool; we loved that we could sit back and relax while they played and felt that they were safe. Music was a bit loud but not in the morning or later afternoon. However, we had to be at the pool / ocean very early to reserve spots.
Before going into the negatives, I want to say that they were FAR outweighed by the positives. We really liked this resort, except for the strength of the waves in the ocean and steepness of the beach.
The ocean was too dangerous for young children. It is very steep where the waves hit, resulting in a fast, strong wave, rather than slow roller on a more gently sloped beach. This also results in a very strong pull-back of the waves into the ocean. I've been to a lot of resorts with big waves and had never felt it like this before. However, I have heard that it depends on the time of year. We are beach people, and I could not comfortably play with my kids in the water, even with them wearing life jackets.
The resort could have a better system outlining the schedule of events. There was a schedule at the Kids Club, but it wasn't clear where to meet in the resort for specific events. The staff was great to the kids, and addressed my daughter by name despite the fact that she didn't specifically spend any time there.
Maintenance department needs improvement. The dead-bold on my mother's room didn't work. As a 70-year old woman in her own room, this made her nervous. It took two requests, and two nights of her putting a chair against her door, before this was fixed. Her bedside table lamp and entrance light were never fixed, despite asking twice. Her toilet seat was finally fixed on the last day. We had requested adjoining rooms, or close to each other, but the best we got was having them on the same floor. Our phone indicated that we had a message one night but we could not retrieve it. Maintenance came and fixed it, but said that there was no message. It turned out that the message was the Sunwing rep telling us that our tour had been cancelled the next morning. (Didn't know this until we were waiting to go on the tour). However, except for the dead-bolt, these were not big issues.
Wifi was much too expensive and didn't work very well. I realize that you can upgrade to include Wifi but resorts should include it for free.
If it weren't for the steepness of the beach and the danger it posed to my kids, (9 and 5), we would come back to this resort in a heartbeat.
Absolutely amazing resort and staff.

My wife, 2 daughters and i just came back from a week stay at this resort ( March 31 - April 7, 2015 ). This resort is kept so clean, staff work very hard and are very friendly and helpful, thus adds so much to a great experience. The food was wonderful at the Al la Carte's, the buffet and snack bar. There was always something to do at the resort, whether it was water activities, pool activities, kids club for younger kids, excursions, etc. Also mention the ease and safety of going into town. A 10 minute cab ride for 40 peso one way ( set price ), a must do while there. The Barcelo in Huatulco resort ranks as our favorite place thus far. Thanks for a great holiday Elvira and all staff.
