Outside of the front desk staff everyone was very gracious and accommodating. The property was very clean rooms were clean linens bathroom we're not bad. However of all the places I've stayed in Cancun Occidental Costa Cancun was the least impressive. It may have just been my room but the views were nonexistent. This was a quick weekend budget get away in which I had no intentions of spending much time in my room anyway so I got over it. Another disappointment was the food at the buffet was terrible. The specialty restaurants were a A little better but again lacking in comparison to some of the other hotels I've visited in Cancun. Outside of a pretty neat Michael Jackson tribute one night entertainment was pretty much nonexistent. The beach area was pretty small but still good for some sunbathing and watching the various boat sail out to sea. All in all if you're on a budget just looking to get away Occidental Costa Cancun should suffice. But if you're looking for any extra amenities this might not be the place for you.

I've visited many places in Mexico and this by far has been the worst expressive ever. Took over 45 minutes to check in, 3 adults. When we get to our room there is only 1 bed. This was never mentioned at check in. Then I'm told this is all they have until Monday. No apologies from the staff. The hostess seats us in the restaurant, we go to grab food and when we return the waiter had actually moved our stuff to give the table to another couple. When asking why we were moved the waiter all of the sudden doesn't understand. Went to the front to speak to a manager or supervisor and both ran to the back and were "too busy". Pool is not heated, it's freezing cold. This is the short of the complaints. Bad service!

Stayed there 1 week. The major downside to this place: The beach is next to the entrance for the port. There is a Terrible smell of gaz. A lot of algees, it is a highway for boats. The water is dirty.... very disappointing for a resort on cancun beach... I guess if you plan to stay around the pool all week you wont notice it as much.

Below average food, below average service, pretty average overall.

We arrived on a Tuesday and was greeted by our driver at the airport which who was friendly and helpful. Our room was decent size and was supposed to have an ocean view. We could technically see the ocean but directly out our balcony was the roof of another building. The beach was very small and no real walking room to go up and down the beach. A waterway on the south side, and private property on the north side. Don't expect long walks on the beach. Getting to the food. Breakfast buffet was decent, can always get a fresh made omelet. However, the sit down dinners left something to be desired. Not 4 star food by any means. Drinks are not premium and generally tasted watered down. Speaking of water, it was like pulling teeth to get water. Not sure why they were so resistant to give bottled water. We had 3 bottles in our room fridge that was supposed to be replenished each day. One day we slept in a bit and didn't have any water. As we walked through the resort, we were heading out for a walk and I asked a guy at the bar for a couple of bottles of water. He said, no, I can't give you bottled water, only tap? WTH??? Really? In an all inclusive why be stingy on the water that makes no sense. I've stayed at Barcelo before in Dominican but I believe that was my last Barcelo trip. Sorry guys, missed the mark.
