The people that worked their we're all very friendly to us, we always said good morning and always they had a big smile back and talked back with us. The front desk not so much. Felt like they had something better to do and understaffed at desk. 4 out of 6 of us can home with montizumas revenge, all the last day and days to follow. Lots of food choices but not the best quality. We're from Chicago so we are very spoiled with our food. Did not like at all that we had to make reservation for dinner. Took an hour to wait in line then none of the restraiunts we're open. We had to go to dinner at 5:45 and offer the host $20 for a time. They never took the $20 and got us in right away. They're were 7 of us. Thank you to the hostesses for getting us in. Overall this resort is beautiful!

I absolutely loved my stay at this resort. The resort is absolutely beautiful. There are many food options and the pools and beach are beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly. The rooms have a large safe in them, but honestly I left some of my valuables outside of the safe and did not get robbed. Highly recommend staying here.

A- the pull out sofa we were told we were getting for our 13 year old was NOT a pull out. It was not made to be a bed. Our son fell out of it 3 times. We had to to complain/pay to get upgraded because AppleVacations did not give out accurate info (IE. lied to us to get our money). B- Food was horrible at best. This should have been rated a 3-star. C- Service was nonexistent D- The staff had poor attitude E- Staff if not speak English F- The driver of the van to bring us from Hotel to Airport dropped us off at the wrong terminal. We had to walk 10 minutes in the blazing heat to get to the right terminal.

Hotel location was great. A few disappointments though. On Sunday for both breakfast and lunch it was like all the help was off. There were mant open tables to sit at but no one was cleaning them up from the people who had left. We had to put the dirty dishes on another table to use them. Another night we had reservations for 8:45 and we registered with the lady at the door at 8:30 and sat waiting outside the restaurant in the lobby area to be called. At about 8:40 she came out and said they were waiting for the people to get up and they would push the tables together and we would be seated. She pointed at the table where we were going to be outside, we had 9 people for dinner. 15 minutes later I saw that the people had left and they were putting the tables together. We went into the bar to get a drink and then I went to the lady and asked when we would be seated? She then said they were putting a table together inside for us. I went and looked and they put other people at the table we were suppose to have. It was now 9:20 and we had 4 kids with us 11 years of age and younger so we wanted to eat. The manager came and said we could go to the salad bar and then sit and some bar tables until they had the tables ready. I finally told him that we were going to leave and asked why they gave our table to someone else and he had no answer so we left. Another item that I thought was not good was the fact that we paid for an "all inclusive" package and they charged $20 a day per person to go to the water park. They did give us 1 free day pass that had to be used the day after you check in but this should be included.

Pool needs to have empty cups that are sitting at the swim up bar and on the other pool islands picked up more than once a day. Otherwise it was great. My friend did get food poisoning the last day we were there. Not good for traveling at all.

The service was terrible, they didn't want to help really, and it was extremely hard to get coffee in the morning. Coffee is grown here, and I was looking forward to it every morning. The staff did not understand English very well. The food was not great, and it made people sick at points. It was a very European hotel, and not many spoke English, staff, or other hotel guests.

Amazing family vacation!!!!!

We've been to a lot of all-inclusive and it's our first time in Punta Cana so we really don't know what to expect, we always check Tripadvisor for reviews so here I am giving back! We booked the Family room with 2 double bed and 1 king size, perfect for our family with 11 and 14 year old kids. They get their own bed downstairs and we have our king size bed upstairs (loft). You also have your own bathroom which we love. The view is the golf course which we don't mind we're always in the beach/pool area anyway. The room is fully stacked with drinks, cereal w/milk and some snacks. They also provide you with bathrobes and slippers. No complaints, perfect so far... The resort, it is big but not bad as how other people put it. To give you some idea the walk from our room in the golf course area to the lobby where most of the action is about 5 minutes. They also offer a golf cart and a train to take you around the resort, but we never used it. They have plenty of activities like casino, disco, nightly shows, bowling lanes, sports bar, escape room (run by a different company but located in the resort property), lots of shopping. I liked their sports bar, very nice layout comfy couch but the servers are not very attentive. The nightly shows are subpar, we saw one and we had enough of it. They also have a pirate water park, it's ~$11 to enter but since we have the family room we got a free day to use it, it's a good change for a day, a good space for some peace and quiet, lots of chairs and good drink service. It has a wave pool, a few small slides but I won't probably pay for it. There's a free mini golf which my kids used and also a laser gun arena for a small fee but it's was closed. Check-in, they have 2 areas to check in. Maybe just our luck but there's no line at all Even on times we are in the lobby area, we have not seen any long line ups. We booked our vacation thru Costco, I guess you get different bands and privilige vs. booking directly with Barcelo. Normally you get 5 nights of Ala carte dinners but we really hate buffet dinners, I guess we said or complained enough that the front desk gave us 7 nights Ala carte at the end - so thank you, we call that good customer service in our book! But this should not be the case to begin with, they should just offer their guest to dine in any restaurant they want, it's all inclusive after all. One more thing I didn't like is the WiFi, in this day in age why do we need to pay for internet? They charge you ~$55/week for one device, so we just got one for our family to share no issue with the signal they work just fine. Restaurants, no short of good food and restaurants. We dine on 7 different restaurants and ate variety of food every night, it's heaven! Japanese, Mexican, Seafood, Steak, American, Spanish. Even the buffet is not bad for breakfast and lunch, they offer fresh fruit shake which my kids really liked. The pool/beach area, yes there's no umbrella in the beach but it didn't bother us there's plenty of trees to get shades. We never had issues getting beach chairs, there's always chairs available. The chairs at the pool are a bit scarce but it didn't bother us, we stayed in the beach most of the time and move to the pool in the afternoon for a couple of hours. The property itself is very well maintained, nice garden, clean and very spacious. We're actually thinking of going back next year, we had such a great time!

Wonderful time at Barceló Bavaro Palace!!!

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 1 senior and 2 teens) just got back from Punta Cana. This is our 6th time at PC, and to be honest, this is one of our favorite hotels (besides HardRock resort) that we will definitely come back. We booked the Junior Deluxe Premium Level room, and our trip began with the great service from the staff when we emailed asking to stay in building 5, and booked the restaurants for our dinner. The check-in was easy at Club Premium, where the check-in staff was asking us to relax ourselves at the side table (where we can get food and our drinks served), and she would take care of the check-in for us. The rooms are so nice, with a beautiful view facing the ocean directly, where we have our jacuzzi on our balconies. Our rooms are cleaned every day (except the last night since they were running late on cleaning up that day). We have tried all restaurants except Mexico Lindo and the adult restaurants (since they required more formal even at lunch time). Here are the restaurants that we tried so far: + French restaurant (I ordered Shrimp cocktail with pineapple, and Lobster Thermidor, and I love it) – great service and delicious food. + Spanish restaurant – our waiter was funny, and provided excellent service, and great food. Big portion for tapas, so make sure you have room for it. + Italian restaurant – great service, Nancy was our server, and she is funny and friendly. Small portion so you have room for the buffet later  + Japanese restaurant – hibachi style is recommended, the chef is funny, made great atmosphere and the server is attentive. My husband and son went back for sushi at another day, and they were not that impressed with the food. + The seafood restaurant (Coral) (premium only for lunch and breakfast) – great for breakfast and lunch (if you want to sit outside during lunch time, the breeze is so nice), however, the food at night is ok, and it is too hot to sit inside at night + Santa Fe Steakhouse – service is not that good, forgot our drinks, food and didn’t clean up our table. It was also too hot to sit inside at night. We talked to the manager, so my husband and daughter came back the next night. They sat outside, and mentioned that the breeze at night was great, also the ribeye steak was good. + The buffet restaurants – many good choices for food at night. I stuffed myself too much food at the restaurants that I regretted that I had no more room to eat the food they served there (after our dinner at the restaurants), make sure you check that out each night since they have a lot of variety. I saw lobster, sushi, Paella, etc. served there. Tips: Make sure you get your drink ordered outside at the bar before sitting at the table. They only served beer and wine at the tables, the restaurants do not serve mix-drinks. The Spa is where our family spent most of our time. It has a nice pool size overlook the main pool. It has a hot and cold tub, a nice steam room and sauna. However, I expected the showers to have some infused water, and it is not (compared with the one in Mexico) The Club premium is another place that we spent our time there, the servers are friendly and nice. Elizabeth from Club premium is great; she is friendly and has great attitude. She has been helping us throughout the week. The finger food choices are good, and they can make any drink you want to order. The beach is nice but it has a lot of seaweeds even though the staff were cleaning up early in the morning. If we swim in the morning until noon, there are no seaweeds. I recommend to bring water shoes since it has some small rocks. There is no need to reserve chairs for the beach, there are plenty of them around. However, for the pools are different story, if you want to be under the shades, you want to reserve them early in the morning. The resort is not Non-smoking, therefore you will expect to see many smokers around. We don’t get mosquitoes bite only the first night in my room (the cleaners must have opened the doors when cleaning), either the breeze helps or the resort has been treated. Areas for improvement that we hope Barcelo can fix: + Doors for our rooms are creaking very loud, so little oil to smooth that out will be good + Sliding glass doors not closed well, so I could hear the winds howling at night + Allow us to order mixed-drinks at the reserved restaurants

Not Horrible, Would not go back, like a cruise ship on land

We stayed there in may of 2018 family of four kids of 11 and 12. We have stayed at dozens of all inclusive resorts in the past and this was not the worst one but pretty low on the list. Goods: -get the upgrade room group so you can get all the extras that go with it otherwise they will nickle and dime you (we had upgrade) -water park was fun for a day for the kids, small and got old quickly -drinks were top shelf if you asked for it and plentiful -sports bar is nice touch, okay snacks, best drinks at resort -shows were good -lot of pools so never crowded -beach was nice and large (seaweed started coming in toward end of vacation, hotel worked day and night to clean it up) -room was nice we had the two room family suite, nice to have kids in one room and adults in another (first resort that had this layout done so well) BAD: Overall the resort feels like a cruise ship, understaffed, poor food choices and quality. The resort is huge and because of their size i think they struggle to produce good quality food and keep up with number of visitors. Long waits at bars to get drinks, specialty restaurants we on par with applebees or olive garden quality of food. -Could not get cocktails at restaurants only beer and wine -wine was drinkable but not the best -buffets were same stuff most days, not much variety -would not let out tour guide in to get us for a day trip because he would not give them kickbacks - lots of stores in resort but way overpriced (typical of all resorts so not a black eye for this particular resort) I would not go back due to their very poor environmental concern, poor food quality, poor service The Ugly: IF THE RESORT IS READING THIS STOP WITH THE STRAWS, YOU ARE DESTROYING THE OCEAN AND OUR WORLD. EVEN WHEN I ASKED FOR NO STRAW I GOT A STRAW IN MY DRINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! USE CUPS THAT ARE REUSABLE. THE WASTE AND ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE THIS RESORT IS DOING IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN AT ANY RESORT. FOLLOW THE LAW AND STOP SERVING LOBSTER OUT OF SEASON!!!

High-end all-inclusive resort, very nice place, food quality varies widely

First thing to remember - this is not an American resort or hotel. That will either make the hotel endearing or frustrating for many western guests. A significant number of employees spoke very limited English. With the old high school Spanish lessons, we were able to get along fine. Rooms were huge and updated. Beds were comfortable. Everything was immaculately clean. We traveled with four other families as part of a family reunion, and everyone reported the rooms were great. We had a family junior suite, and it slept the adults and up to 6 kids very comfortably. Note, the rooms do have an an unusual layout/decor, and the shower door and water closet door are translucent at best. While very fashionable, some kids and adults may not feel comfortable using the facilities when their brothers / sisters can see what they're doing. Restaurants and food/drink ranged from below-average to truly excellent, but it was really hit-or-miss. The buffets could have cold or burnt cooked foods right next to something incredibly delicious. Take a little of everything, and see what you like before you take too much of anything. For dinner, you needed reservations for the mid-level and high-end restaurants. These were hard to come by if you had a larger part (more than 4 people). The crown jewel of the restaurants was the Spanish restaurant, La Fuente. Get you reservations as soon as possible for this one. The pools and beach were fantastic. Giant pools that were spacious and rarely felt crowded except maybe 3-5pm when everyone headed down. The adults only pool was really relaxing if you want to get away from the kids for a bit. We splurged and rented a cabana at the adult pool for a couple days. Best $15 we ever spent. : ) Kids and adults also had a good time at the small wave pool and water slide pool. There was also a very large shallow pool/splash pad for younger kids/families that looked very, very nice. Beach was spacious and not crowded. Lots of lounge chairs and place for kids and adults to play. Water was very clear. The water is relatively calm for the ocean, as the region is protected by an off-shore reef. This makes waves minimal and young kids can frolic freely. Many other facilities exist too. A lot of shopping right on the resort. Bought some really nice art for very, very reasonable prices ($8 for a high quality, painting???). Golf is available, but not cheap, especially if you rent clubs. Tennis, basketball, and paddle ball courts all were nice, too. Hosted family reunion (5 family units) in July.

Over all was a great vacation. It’s similar to cruise but it’s on land. A lot of activities for kids especially there are few pools. The best is the family room , comfortable and there is a private spa in each room. Foods in selectedrestaurants were good. Drinks were very good the whole day. Things which can be better : * checking service, long process , line and disorganized. * continuous training of staff will help to better service for international guests.
