Our own little paradise...
Mon Oct 05 10:32:27 EDT 2015
When we checked in at Bavaro Beach Adults Only hotel, we were told by Ambiorix de la Cruz that everything we needed was there, that it was our own paradise and anything we wanted or needed, just to ask - it was true. Everything we needed was right there and it was so beautiful and relaxing that we didn't want to go anywhere else. From the beaches, to the pool, the courtyard, and the friendly faces - overall, we had a fantastic stay. I admit that the food was hard to get a handle on, but it's just the differences between the way food is cooked and prepared and I'm a picky eater to begin with, so food options were slim; however, I didn't go there for the food, so it wasn't a big issue for me. I would definitely go back to this resort. More>

The only thing better than the location is the STAFF!

My wife and I booked a vacation for about 9 days. It was probably the best vacation we've had so far. (8 year anniversary) The pool area was beyond relaxing with beds that are in the water and some have shaded awnings which is great for those who aren't trying to get a tan (like myself). There is a bar within a few feet from the pool and there is always something going on in terms of entertainment. The entire resort is quite big but not too big to the point that it is intimidating. At night the lobby bar has two bartenders that are basically the dynamic duo of of bar tending service Jensy Del Rosario and Jose Bienvenidos Rojas. These two guys never left me needing for a drink and were of an extremely high caliber of service. My wife and I were very impressed. If you want to pick up anything lie souvenirs, cigarettes, even rum and snacks you can always stop at the gift shop which is across from the front desk. I want to mention Josias Santos who was literally ALWAYS there,.. this kid has a great attitude and and warm personality. Always ready to help. When ever yo stop in ask him if you can try some Mama Juana.. Amazing rum based drink only found in the Dominican Republic. I'm telling you that this staff REALLY is all about service! Speaking of service, at the front desk were two that really stood out quite well. Ambriorix De La Cruz and Josue Martinez. These two always remembered us and ALWAYS took the time to help us out and make us actually feel welcomed. Josue gave us some great advice about the location and what to do and where to go! We went to him so much that we know his family nickname is Junior! Junior - If you ever read this, you're awesome bro! Ambriorix was beyond courteous! I'll even admit that on my first night there, I was a bit rude because of some flight problems and I unfairly took it out on him. (I felt so bad - that's really not my style because i'm not an "entitled A-hole",.. but anyways...) When I went back and apologized to him - I literally had to remind him about me being rude. He honestly let it go from his memory and ALWAYS treated me and my wife with STELLAR service! Ambriorix, If your're ever in LA I owe you a beer! There was a a food runner that works in one of the main restaurants in the evening called La Brisa, his name is Jose. WOW. He was better than top servers in Vegas! I work in restaurants and if I ever come across this young man in the states looking for a job- i'd hire him in a heartbeat! Lastly was a server named Maria who was so kind and courteous that she eve n called us in our room one afternoon just to check up on us because we told her that we were going into town to get get some lunch. She didn't call to request anything, or try to make any kind of sale - she really just wanted to see how everything went! My wife and I were WOWED! I know I am talking a lot about the staff - but its because the staff often get overlooked - but when they go to great effort to do their job of making you feel welcomed, appreciated and dare I even say "cared about" - then i'll be honest they deserve all the recognition in the world! Why havent I spoken too much about the location? Because if you're reading this then you are already interested in this resort and have already seen the photos! (I know i'm right) Let me tell you though, the photos are nice, but to be there and actually lay on the sand with a beer and watch the moon rise is to die for! Plus it helps that you can put down your drink and literally throw yourself in the ocean is a feeling that I cannot describe, you just have to experience it. Lastly another but of knowledge - Once you pass the resort beach there is a sign that says that you are now in public area (Its called Bibi Jagua) - so you are warned but its not dangerous just that the local vendors are so "eager" to make a sale that they make Moroccan Street Vendors look like boy scouts. The souvenirs are nice and you can always bargain them down. But here is good tip - there is a little office right next to that sign where you can rent a speed boat, go snorkeling, go parasailing, EVERYTHING for what I consider a deal! (Often less than a hundred bucks) Look or ask for Cesar! Anyone in that little office knows him. My wife and I went to him for everything of the sort! We went snorkeling, parasailing, rented a speed boat and went to a local "natural pool" where you stop basically a mile or so away from the shore and you just jump out and the water is only up to your waist and simply awesome! Look for anyone we've mentioned and you wont regret it! Staff I've mentioned are the best and look for Cesar at Bibi Jagua. (Remember Cesar is not with the resort but his office is literally on the sand just a few feet away from the property line of the resort.) Oh yeah,.. If you get the all inclusive package at the resort you really don't need money for anything except tipping. So just bring a lot of small bills for tipping. (don't be cheap Tipping is NOT a city in China, its a form of gratitude - thus gratuity) The Dominican Republic is not a very wealthy country so they really appreciate the tips, and believe me their service is worthy of gratuity! American money is greatly appreciated. Just don't be flashy about it. Depending if you leave the resort and enter the surrounding town area it could be a little risky. That's pretty much it. Have fun, be safe and trust me you will have a great time! - Joe & Lily Gonzalez. More>

Guest Services

On arrival at this excellent resort , we were advised to go to book the vast array of A la carte restaurants at guest services as soon as possible . We spoke to a very helpful girl called Nefretty , we managed to book all the places we wanted at times we found suitable even though the hotel was extremely busy and she had to change the bookings for us a number of times to fit in with our schedule , she couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant . All the restaurants are of an exceptional standard . More>

Awesome hotel, great staff and service, great food, nice big bedrooms. The beach is also beautiful with clean warm waters. That was my first experience with "all inclusive" hotels and i really enjoyed. More>

Great adult vacation place
Thu Oct 01 23:56:04 EDT 2015
Three couples - nine days - had a great time. Excellent beach and water. Rooms very nice, and certainly good enough for the little time we spent in them. All-inclusive resort - drinks were easily available and food plentiful. Comparisons to Club Med Punta Cana (12 months earlier) * Buffet food was not as good, but restaurants were better. * Staff was not as friendly as CM - little interaction with guests * Activities not as plentiful as CM * Shows not as good as CM either This is not dissing this place, but just giving some guidance for comparison.
