My husband and I spent 7 days at this resort End of March first week in April. The best weather we’ve ever had on a vacation. The sunsets were amazing from our balcony. The accommodations were good all ocean view rooms huge balconies. Very clean and well kept. The refrigerator in our room was not cool at all we inquired thinking it might have been broken but we’re told that was just how they were. So nothing in it was cold and went unused who likes warm beer or soft drinks 🤷‍♀️. The grounds were very nicely kept a lot of huge planters with beautiful flowers. The down fall was that it was all concrete/tile and stairs lots of stairs. Definitely not ideal if you have issues with climbing stairs. The 3 pools were very nice we ended up at the adult pool most of the time because it was quite and relaxing. The infinity pool was beautiful as well but was over taken by local families who had lots of children with water wings and water guns jumping in and out of the pool and splashing anyone and everyone around the pool blocking the stairs getting in and out. The lifeguards tried to keep them under control but they totally ignored them continuing to do whatever they wanted even the patents ignored them. Some nights they were still in the pool after dark and just refused to get out after being asked over and over. The buffet was average nothing special that’s for sure food was okay but not great we tried not to eat there at all. The restaurants we’re very good we enjoyed them all. Drinks and service around the pool were great you were never without a drink great service and very friendly staff. Entertainment was lacking compared to other resort nothing to comment on because of the lack of it. The shows that were put on nightly were not really advertised we happen to see something going on from our balcony one night and wander over too late to see a show. They were very quick shows maybe a half hour or so but just skits to music or some dancing. The beach was non existent and what there was was so rough you couldn’t swim. And of course getting down there meant so many more stairs coming back up was the worst. There were elevators you could take but again you’d have to take 3 different elevators to get down there. This is getting off one walking to another then getting off that one walking to another set that would take you further down to the beach. Sunwing put on an appreciation BBQ for us that was amazing we were entertained and feed very well best event of the trip.

Not what I expected

For “all inclusive” I think it comes up short (compared to other all inclusives that I’ve stayed at). To start, the guy at the security gate did not have my name on the guest list, which meant of course they didn’t have my reservation at check-in. I had to email my confirmation from Expedia and also wait an additional hour for them to clean/find a room for us. Tipping seemed to be expected, which at other all inclusives is not allowed, which made things like eating at the buffet uncomfortable because I wasn’t sure what the etiquette was as far as leaving tips. Some little things that were missing: clocks in the room, music at the pool, variety of food at the buffet (same everyday and limited choices), wi-fi is available on the grounds but you have to join each one depending where you were, but WiFi in the rooms are additional costs (should be included), pool bars close at 6:00pm which only leaves the lobby bar after that. All of the staff seemed very friendly (possibly because of tipping), the hotel and rooms seemed very clean, the view is great! One huge problem: after about 3 days there my girlfriend noticed a rash on her stomach, 2 days after I noticed the same rash developing on my arms. By the time we left (4 days after her rash started) it had spread to her entire abdomen, thighs and back. It’s extremely itchy and is very uncomfortable. I would have liked to talk to someone from the hotel aside from posting on here, but there isn’t a link to email the hotel from their website. I saw a doctor after I got home yesterday who said it’s probably from the hot tub or pools.

We traveled with another couple and had a great week stay at this resort. The rooms were large with stunning ocean views! The housekeeping is excellent and serviced your room twice a day. The a la carte restaurants were very good and the buffet was small and average. It was disappointing that they would only allow you to book 3 a la carte for a 1 week stay. So, you were stuck eating the not impressive buffet, but we took a cab to Ixtapa a few times and ate a few very, very good, and affordable meals. I recommend going to Ixtapa or Zihua to walk around, shop, and eat. There are cheap $25 us dollar massage huts (we saw 3 of them) near the resort on the beach. We enjoyed them. However, we also got a couple massage at the resort, which was surprisingly very affordable compared to other inclusive resorts we have stayed at! It was $130 us dollar for 2 people and the spa is amazing! The facility is impressive and the massage was fantastic. There are 3 pools. The adult pool is very shaded & very quiet. The activity pool is busy and full of kids. The infiniti pool with waterfall swim up bar is beautiful. However, there is no music allowed. They do not play music and the lifeguards are like police and will not let you play your own speaker, even if played softly. We have been to many, many, all inclusive and disappointed that music was not played or allowed. We saw many other people attempt to play music too and when we first attempted to play music, several people came over with excitement to listen and enjoy as well. The towel system was a new one for us. The towels are embroidered with numbers and you have to "check out" your towel and will be charged $25 if you lose your towel. The beach is small, but still adequate. There is a disco, but it is not open every day and doesn't open until 11pm. However, it was a fun atmosphere and right on the ocean. They have a great sports bar area with a live band. Unfortunately, the same band played every single night, so there was no variety and it was traditional mexican music. It seems they were not accommodating all the different cultures and visitors. They do have Grey Goose at the Sports Bar, however, limited to only 3 bottles per night. The gym is one of the nicest gyms we have ever seen at an all inclusive. It is very large, lots of equipment, but wish it would have had some windows. We went over to Ixtapa Island, which was overly crowded, but still worth seeing. We also took a horseback riding tour along a different beach about 20 minutes away that was the prettiest beach! I would highly recommend Zihua tours. The staff weren't as friendly as other resorts we have stayed at, except a few were very nice that stood out! They would recognize us whenever they would see us and be very welcoming. Thank you to Eddie (time share person), Juan Carlos (restaurants) and El_____ (I can't remember how to spell his name, but he worked at the sports bar)! Overall, it was a fantastic week. The weather is perfect and amazing! The nightly sunsets were breathtaking. We travel to Mexico several times a year and probably would not return to this specific resort. It was not terrible, but not one of our favorites.

Great last minute get away.

My husband and I booked last minute through sunwing and were not disappointed. Everything when smoothly and room was nice, had slippers but no robes which was missed. Pools were great and lots of chairs. Service was amazing all around and never had to wait, we did not feel any pressure for tips. Drinks were basic all inclusive style. For a five star I would have like to have had some garnish for snack / presentation in my drinks. Alacartes were great and we tried them all. Italian was my favourite which is a first. Buffet was usual but great variety and they did do empanadas, taco, ice cream and egg station. The coffee shop was nice but wish they had pastries or cookies. They had a live band playing nightly and a fair size game room, pool tables, ping pong, indoor or outdoor seating and dance area for those who love to dance. We did not bring our kids but did see some kid activities, the azul next door did have more to offer for younger children and a bigger beach. You have access to walk down the beach in both directions but not exactly off the resort. This is a non issue and easy with the wooden walkway along the beach so you don’t have to maneuver over rocky areas. Area was very friendly and we did ride public bus to Ixtapa for 16 pasos / per person, about a ten minute ride. Sunwing did run out of food on the way home which seemed disappointing to families with young children.

think twice about this place

I read all reviews before booking here , thought it would be a great wellness hotel....they should not have wellness in the description! When one review said " no fun after 11pm" I thought good it will be quiet place...what it should have mentioned was this...if you are enjoying time in pool or jacuzzis they will kick you out at 7pm...all bars except lobby bar is closed at 6 pm!! Was shocked to be tapped on shoulder and told to get out @ 6:45 pm such bull no drinks, no pool. The staff here are amazing though , sympathetic to the rules but thats about it. What also needs mentioning is that on Fri,Sat,Sun the locals come stay here, the resort itself can also be "rented"to locals by the hour....thus you get families that dont give a crap about the screaming children they bring...running up and down the halls...as previously mentioned, outdoors closes by 7pm....that leaves one place where you can get the drinks....not the best idea....on the positive...the placement of resort is perfect, the rooms and views, stunning, service impecable...toured to Ixtapa and Zihua...cabs and people were fabulous!! Food outside of resort great price and delicious, I will never go on all inclusive again in Ixtapa....not worth the money as the local shops, restaurants and bars are just amazing , will go back to this area in a heartbeat crocs,pelicans,dolphins,turtles,quatamundae....
