I'd heard a lot of very good things and positive feedback about this resort and destination, and neither disappointed! The hotel has a new and modern feel, with an open and impressive lobby area, and large, well appointed rooms, all of which have jacuzzi tubs, and large balconies with stunning ocean views. It is a fairly compact resort, with all areas being easily reachable. The infinity party pool is large and fun with great views, and the adult pool is far enough away to be quiet and well served. The food was good wherever we went, but the best, best, best was the Oyster Bar, which is perched on a cliff looking west to Ixtapa Island (sunset dinners!!). The beach here is minuscule, but there are large public beaches on either side of the resort that are great for walking and swimming. Ixtapa Island is easily reached by a few minutes' walk and 40 peso ferry ride, and has great snorkelling and laid back feel. The hotel offers bike tours everyday, which wind through a lovely little ecological park just a couple minutes down the road, and from there the paved path actually goes all the way into town. We really enjoyed the entire holiday here (as did all of our friends), and would definitely consider coming back. More>

Family friendly, with reserved adult only spaces (pool/bar). Very clean, clean, clean! Rooms are all ocean view! The view is wild and magical! Be sure to get up and watch the sunrise and don't miss the sun set. Wide variety of food. Dining at its best. You can choose casual dining or fine dining. There is beach access, but its not for swimming. This location is not close to city, but easy access by taxi. We rented a car so can't say much on transportation pricing. Only downfall, tours are booked by local agencies and hotel is not involved, which influences service levels and price gouging. We booked a trip to Las Gatas Beach, Very beautiful beach, but you get what you pay for.. Our tour included cheap meal and 1 drink at beach (advertised - drinks included). Seating was limited and chairs were old, worn out. Not a nice experience. Be sure to confirm before you book that you will be picked up on time. We were picked up 1 hour late. Taken over on an old junky looking boat. Overall, the Hotel is comfortable and worth the price. More>

Mexican resort at its best!

We took a chance at this resort as we go mainly for long beaches and the front beach is very small. We never ran out of beach either sides, beautiful wide beaches and a lot of local flavor at the right side. Go on a Sunday and it is amazing to see so many people enjoying themselves. Great food, vendors and no attitude. At the left of the resort, the Club Med beach has great waves to play in. The adult pool is also fantastic, quiet, no music and the best drink service ever. The food, what to say? A never ending choice of authentic and fusion, local dishes to discover. Attentive service and even if the buffet "seems" small there is a good choice. Very clean amenities and very bright and energy saving features such as the lights coming on as you step out of the elevators and the AC turning off as you open the patio door. Take the local bus and go to Zhiwat, at the wharf you can get a great boat ride back at a reasonable price. The room was clean, beautiful view and the bed comfortable. We only spent a week and could go back to discover and enjoy more. v More>

Amazing Customer Service! From the moment you arrive to the hotel the staff welcomes you and is ready to help with the luggage. The rooms are simple but clean. Restaurants have average food yet they are always clean and once again the staff is always there to help. The pools are clean and the staff around the pools are extremely accommodating. Great place to spend time with the family. More>

Modern Establishment

The hotel itself is beautiful, very modern and big! Its a fairly quite, relaxing hotel, not many kids running around, but there is a kids club which our kids participated in, they seemed to have really enjoyed playing tennis, mini golfing and meeting iguanas along with the other children. For adults there was zumba, but most of the activities such as water sports (kayak, sailboating) were at the other sister hotel (the Azul Ixtapa), we did visit twice in order to partake in those activities as well as rock climbing. The food was excellent at the al carte restaurants and the buffets. We went to a dinner and a show at the sister hotel (Azul Ixtapa) a short 8 minute walk from the Grand Azul, but were disappointed with the quality and variety of food. We highly recommend visiting the Mexican restaurant, both for dinner and lunch, as the menus are different, being of Mexican origins we can testify that this food is good, also the waitstaff at this restaurant is amazing, our waiter even went as far as to learn our names! We loved the Asian restaurant, but found our favourite spot to be a restaurant right on the ocean, in between both Azul and the Grand Azul. We ate lunch and breakfast here and were impressed by the views and the food. The desserts and drinks were very good at all the restaurants. The beach was not great, quite small and rocky. But if you walk to Azul Ixtapa's it is great and very large. If you're up for a small adventure keep walking past the Azul's beach. You'll get to a dock and some rocks, where you can fish. There a also a beautiful little market where you can buy essentials such sunscreen, sunglasses, bathing suits and souvenirs at a much better price then at the hotels gift shop. The Grand Azul had a nice sports/lobby bar where you can play ping pong, board games etc ( you can also order food and drinks). The snack bar was good as where all the bars. Overall we had a great trip, great food, great staff and great quality, we visit Mexico at least one if not twice a year but we absolutely love Ixtapa! This was our fourth time back to Ixtapa first time at the Grand Azul and we would recommend this hotel if you are looking for relaxing getaway on the Pacific coast of Mexico. More>
