We arrived just in our room just as the sun was setting. I knew at this moment we had picked an amazing hotel. The views are second to none. The rooms are spacious, new, and clean and all have ocean views. The bed was comfy. The best thing I liked about the hotel was the service. The staff treat you special, and I really believe they love working there. The infinity pool is stunning, with service from Joel. There are three large pools to take advantage of, but if you like your quiet, there is an adult pool. We took advantage of the kayak and snorkelling tours and also the bike tour, all included with this hotel. The evening shows are very well done with vibrant costumes and professionally trained dancers. The only downside to this hotel is that there is not much of a beach, but there are two fabulous beaches five minutes walk to the right and left. Ixtapa is a wonderful place with the most courteous, friendly people we have met. We will be back
The Azul Grand is a solid 4 and a half star.

Sitting here on the edge of the infinity pool at the Azul Grand Ixtapa . Our 6 th day here. My thoughts ....rooms large ,spacious and spotless. Food above average for an all inclusive. The view from the pool and balcony looking out towards Ixtapa island is beautiful. Drink service poolside is very good. Lunch at the pool side grill better than expected. We have walked or jogged the "ciclopedia" bike path every morning . Beautiful pathway through a jungle setting. Suggested minor improvements: the chairs at the buffet could be a little better than plastic.. Not bad but could be better quality. I wish there was a family section or an adults only section in the buffet because when the Nationals arrive they come with many, many loud children for the weekends. The lounge area on the weekends will be filled with children . A very loud place to have an evening drink so we just do not. Make it 18 + to enter. Overall a great resort. We have done the kids thing and are more in tune with peace and quiet at the adult pool.

This Hotel is supper nice. The room was amazing (see my pictures for details). The food was also overall great; the restaurants had also very good food. The services by the pool was great, we had a guy name Alejandro who was very nice and always try to bring us the best drinks even surprised me with a drink, as soon as I was just done with one, he had it ready for me. The pool(s) were amazing, love them all, they also have activities but I did not do any since my stay there was short. The kids club was also nice and my son had a nice time doing the different activities.
The beach ( Playa Quieta) was so nice, the water was great, and warm, just don?t expect clear, blue water, this is not Cancun. But love this peach, went there really early in the morning to get a quiet and nice spot
There are only two things, I didn?t l like about this place. The first one, even I can understand, I still want to mention it. They will not allow you to drink and eat by the pool. They had a little area/buffet to get snack but you cannot actually sip on your drink and enjoy some chips and salsa right from your chair/pool. So I was not that happy about this but I can understand as it looks like, they might want to keep the area clean as much as possible.
The second thing I really dislike was at the time of checking out the ladies were not nice at all and even refused to give us a detail receipt. Perhaps, they did not how to do this or just did not feel like it. I was also surprise, how they did not even ask us how was our stay, you know the usual hotel chat.
Another thing, worth mentioning, the rooms did not have any Internet connection. You had to pay additional 150 pesos for it but it was available in all the common areas except for the lobby.
Excellent quality in all services and facilities

We have been to most of the usual resort destinations in Mexico, (Cabo 4x, PV 2x, Mazatlan, Acapulco 2x, Cancun 2x. This was our first trip to Ixtapa. The general town and surrounding area was very lush and green with nice mountains surrounding. The resort is very modern and only about 2+ years old. Lots of tile and glass and natural lighting and open spaces. The resort is kept immaculately clean and the pools are large and warm. Surprisingly, no one hit us up for a timeshare presentation when we arrived nor at any other time. That was a first. A huge shout out to the bartenders at the main saltwater pool where we spent most of our time. Come to think of it - all the staff were very friendly and welcoming......we can not think of a single negative experience. When ordering beverages we suggest you specify the brand you want (Bacardi, Smirnoff, etc) otherwise you will probably get the local stuff. We will say that communication was a bit more challenging in Ixtapa than other resort towns we've been to, since we know only a few basic words in Spanish. However, we were always able to get what we needed! Our room was spacious, modern and very clean and the patio was larger than we expected. The view was incredible. The bed was very comfortable. I would recommend a room higher up. We were in #1817 - which is actually the 8th floor and the room was in the center of the resort. For perspective purposes room #1827 was at the end of left of center (South). The lobby is considered the 10th floor for some reason. We did book a few tours (zip-lining, ATV and boat/snorkeling) with a very helpful fellow named Bill Miller at the resort. Bill always followed up whenever we saw him to see how we enjoyed the tours and the resort in general. He seemed genuinely interested and also had some great suggestions on restaurants and points of interest. As far as the food goes I think it always about expectations. Breakfast is buffet style with lots of interesting choices but we stayed mostly with fresh omelettes, fruit, yogurt and fresh juices. Our favorite dinner was at the Mediterranean restaurant in the sister resort next door (the original Azul) and also the Oyster Bar (not actually an oyster bar). I recommend making reservations early. Making changes to reservations can be done if it's not busy - we had no problems - even at the last minute - but I would not bank on it. One thing we noticed is that it appears no one tips the service staff but we did and it was appreciated. We also tipped the maid every day. The short trip to Ixtapa Island in the bay across from the hotel is worth a day trip as is walking up the beach (North). The resort itself has virtually no beach area and is rocky. The beaches just North after the boardwalk are much better. All things considered - would we go back? Absolutely.
