Great Family Vacation

We visited the Azul Ixtapa Grand last week on a family vacation. There were almost 20 of us ranging from 12 to 78 in age. Everyone had a good time. We really enjoyed the immersion in Mexico. It wasn't like some resorts where you feel like you're in US South, this was a wonderful experience. The only part that was tough on some members of the group was the food. It's authentic cuisine and some of the members of our group liked that better than others. Overall, a very good experience. Nice property.

its a memorable experience

i've been visiting in this hotel since 2012 and its now 208 and I still go there; now I've visited many hotels in Ixtapa, and various parts of Mexico, but "grand azul" defiantly beats its competition. The staff is kind and really put you first, and are always in a joyful mood. The food is really good: they offer buffets and snack bars by the pool. One of the best things were the rooms and the scenery it provided; showing amazing sunsets through the balcony of your room. plus its a great place to take travel photos. My only complaint is that there really isn't a beach; the spot they have is rocky and small (p.s. they have been removing the rocks, and cleaning up, but its not that good). their is a boardwalk that takes you to there sister hotel that has a really good beach, I'd say go there instead if you want to swim in the ocean. Overall I will continue to visit this places each year.

Every room looks out on the ocean!

This hotel is great. I have been here a few times now and will be returning again. It is situated outside of town so either a bus ride or in a taxi to get anywhere else. Public bus ride to town was,I think, 14 pesos. But it only runs until 6 pm. The rooms are amazing. There is a jacuzzi style tub in every room! But be careful in the shower... The water tends to not stay the same temp. i.e. It fluctuates down cold for a bit then surges hot. The adult pool is great for relaxing without the addition of kids and the volume that comes with them. But their infinity pool is very nice to just relax by the edge with an afternoon libation. They have a new floating dock area(no drinks allowed) that you can relax on. But the beach here is really small and rocky. But at least it's a beach! Make sure you know how to make your favorite cocktails, because these guys just know the usuals. Margaritas, Daiquiris, Pina Coladas, Mojitos, that sort of thing. Premium Liquor is served here, but you got to ask for it! Both Modelo beers are on tap, light & dark. If you have never had one, ask for a Michelada! Food here has improved since my first visit. I just wish there fresh taco bar was open every night in the Buffet. My favorite meal is Breakfast, and the omelette bar is the best! The Al La Carte restaurants are really good. All in all, I really enjoy spending time here. ONE ISSUE: Tobacco Smoking area is placed in center of hotel immediately outside lobby bar. Smoke is smelled at Pool, at Buffet Patio, Ala Carte Restaurants Patio, and also makes its way up into Main Lobby area. This need to change!

Great place

Just stay away from Jose, the big fat Mexican on the beach that sells jewelry. We bought 4 pieces and came home and all of them turned pink. They are plated and he told us he owns a store and they are silver. Do not buy from him I warn you. He will also ask to bring him food and drink from hotel. Very shady, don’t buy if you want real silver. As for hotel, great place and all is fantastic.great staff and service.

We spent three days at this beautiful hotel on the ocean in Ixtapa. Everything was excellent: the rooms, the food, the staff. The property has everything one needs to enjoy a few relaxing days in a beautiful place. I recommend walking north to the popular beach where the locals enjoy a nice time. And also taking the boat to the island to enjoy the day there. We had a wonderful time.
