My wife and visited Ixtapa February 14/19 to Feb. 28/19. The first week we stayed at the Barcelo Ixtapa and the second week we stayed at the Azul Grand, we were pleased that we spent the first week at the Barcelo, and the second at the Azul Grand, as we would have been very disappointed if we had reversed it. The Grande is a very modern hotel/resort maybe 5-6 years old, the property is well cared for, the staff are very pleasant, professional and accommodating, service is second to none! The food is absolutely incredible, the buffet has a great selection, it doesn't matter if it's breakfast lunch or supper, but the al'a carte restaurants are to die for. You can book breakfast lunch and supper, the food is presented as if you ware dinning in one of the finest restaurants in Canada.I can't say enough about the food, definitely the best of all the All Inclusive Resorts that we have stayed at in all of Mexico, far superior to the Barcelo Ixtapa! There is three pools, a family pool, an adult only, and an infinity pool, the adult pool is monitored closely and no children are allowed in. The infinity pool has the best view of all, and is also features a Grato Pool Bar, Excellent Bar & Waiter Service! The one downfall is the beach area, and only for those that want a huge beach area, the beach it is small! but you can take the board walk around to the sister property the Azul Ixtapa, they have a beach that is approximately 1 Km long. My wife and I will definitely return to Ixtapa but only if we can book the Azul Grande!

Excellent resort.

We spent a week at the Azul Ixtapa Grand. Rooms were all oceanview. Comfortable beds, jacuzzi tub in room, walk in shower with good water pressure. Food in buffet was okay but the a la carte's were all excellent. Room was quiet. Grounds were beautiful, 3 pools to choose from. Enjoyed it enough to make a repeat visit next year.

Service - Top notch. Any time we asked a question or had a little problem, things were rectified instantly. Everyone from management to house cleaning were always so friendly and did everything to make our stay great. Rooms - very clean, very spacious, towels were replaced 2 times per day almost every day, balcony view is amazing (we were in room 2015), beds are a little hard. Food - good selection but not an over abundance of options to choose from. Found out while we were there that it is considered a Wellness resort so there is little to no fried food and few dessert options as well. Breakfast had everything you would need, yogurt, toast, peanut butter and jam, omelets, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, french toast, waffles, as well some hot Mexican dishes. Lunch had a good selection in the buffet, salads, pasta, cold cuts and cheese to make a sandwich etc. There is a 'snack shack' by the Infinity pool which serves hamburgers, hot dogs and fries at lunch. Same thing every day there. Dinner - buffet served everything from salads to pastas, to steaks etc. Themes every day featuring food from different countries. A La Cartes , we only went to the Italian and the Mexican, both were good. The décor in all their restaurants is VERY nice. Had to make reservations for breakfast and lunch at the Oyster Bar (restaurant on the boardwalk) which we found a little strange. We do not like to have to 'watch the clock' for breakfast or lunch so we found it weird that they would require this. On Wednesday nights there was a Sunwing garden party where they served a nice hot dinner with a good variety and basically had a good 'ol Manitoba social. There was a dance floor set up and rock and roll music, lots of people dancing. I've never anything like this before so it was pretty nice. They have a nice grassed area between the 2 resorts where they hold this and it was really tastefully decorated. Round tables with long table clothes and table runners, chair covers, round lantern lights hanging in the area - VERY NICE! Thursday night, the resort held a Mexican night in their theatre area. Good assortment of food and then they had some entertainment but we left. Beach/Pools - we knew going in, that there was little to no beach at this resort. There is an area where you can actually be on the beach, near the water, but it's not huge, big enough that it wasn't crowded though, so that was good. There are 3 pools (all very nice and clean) - adults only, infinity and one where most of the kids were and where entertainment took place. People do put their towels out to claim their spot for the day but there were always plenty of chairs available. Spa - we went for massages on my birthday and wow, what a beautiful spa. Was so great that my husband wanted to go back the next day! You get to the spas an hour before your massage and you go into a steam room for 10 mins, then a cool shower, then the sauna for 10 mins, then ice on your face and arms, then 25 mins in the Sensations pool. Very nice experience. Sunwing staff - Arturro and Orion were top notch. They were always available and spoke great English which made it easy to communicate. They were also willing to share advise and to answer any question. Orion went the extra mile by arranging a cab for us when the bus did not show up to pick us up for the ATV tour. Location - Playa Linda is about a 10 mins walk along the beach. Nice beach there with a location for vendors. A few restaurants along the beach that offer food and drinks. Ixtapa Island is just a 5 mins boat ride away - we went but I would not go back. It wasn't very clean. Crocodile Sanctuary - 5 mins walk away - lots of crocodiles and birds there - very cool. Less than 15 mins bus ride to Ixtapa and the bus comes every 10 mins CHEAP! Town of Ixtapa is really nice and clean. Lots of shops (mostly swimsuit stores), lots of restaurants which we checked out. This area is where most of the resorts are, where we were, there was only the Azul and Quanton (I think that's what it was called - it was very small and looked like mostly locals going there) Took a bus to Zihuatanejo (25 mins) and walked to the pier. Nice location filled with shops and restaurants. Playa Ropa is in the area which looked nice. Lastly but very important - we met Adi who worked at one of the little restaurants on Playa Linda. Super sweet young lady who speaks great English and who would really like to work at the Azul Grand Resort. She would be a great asset to the resort because she speaks great English and is a very polite, personable and pretty girl. She's had a few interviews and always gets asked if she has tattoos. Yes, she does, but they are tasteful and would easily be covered by the sleeves of the uniforms. Unfortunately, she keeps being told that they will get back to her and they never do. PLEASE reconsider your biased decision on tattoos and hire this young lady. She's a gem!

The best bang for buck 5 Star All Inclusive in all of Mexico.

I took my niece here as a quick getaway. This resort is above and beyond any all inclusive that I have stayed at. Rooms are amazing and spacious with a Jacuzzi right in the room. View was breathtaking. And the gym...I am a gym rat and it was amazing! From new high tech equipment to the classes they offered in the gym or outside on the patio. Ixtapa is pretty low key, and there is not much of a night life at this resort. Also there is a lot of stairs so pack good runners! Food & pools were wonderful!

Great Resort

This hotel is superior to the all inclusive resorts in ixtapa which are often overcrowded from local tourism. Rooms are large new and have beautiful views. Three large pools and great swimable beach. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options at the buffet. Loved my stay here and would definately come back !
