As an avid traveler, I would highly recommend this hotel as an all inclusive vacation. Pluses-non smoking, very clean, orderly, friendly and extremely accommodating staff, grounds and pools are pristine, buses to local towns are actually on time and the towns are a nice way to spend a day off the resort. Food at the buffet is very good. Nearby beaches are beautiful (not the one directly on this resort). Island across the water is inexpensive to get to and the food is authentic and fresh. Horse playing in the pools is not tolerated at all. The staff do a great job in keeping the resort safe and relaxing. "negatives" for lack of a better word...the food at the a la cartes is not very good. The staff do try however, they can't seem to get it right. Presentation and quality is good, the way the food is cooked is the downside. They are also never at full capacity yet always seem to be rushing you through your meal. The wine they serve at the a la cartes is not what is in the bottle.....it's the same wine as the buffet (still not the wine in the bottle). The ground in the pool areas is very slippery and if you are not paying attention, can be dangerous. This resort does lack onsite entertainment however you can go to their sister facility next door. Also and this just may be a personal preference, there is no where to have espresso or other types of coffee in the morning. I am very used to getting out and sitting in the lobby or coffee bar while traveling; This resort does not have that but they do have an area for smokers?? One big issue that stands out is the guests that get up early to hog the pool chairs and do not show up for hours or do not show up at all. Not really the staffs fault however they should only allow one towel per chair....not one towel sprawled across three chairs. We had difficulty getting chairs on two occasions so I took it upon myself to move one towel to one chair and we took the other two....be courteous people!!!

This was our first trip to Ixtapa and we really liked the Azul Grand. We've been to P.V. twice and up and down the East side many times!! We had a king bed on the middle of the 14th floor and it was perfect. I'm sure higher up had nice views, too but at least we didn't have to see the parking lot. The alcohol was premium, if you asked for it and it flowed freely. The rooms are beautiful, clean and offer outstanding views. The resort is immaculate and well kept. That said, the buffet food was horrific! The selection was limited and the food was ALWAYS cold. Also, only being able to book a certain amount of ala cartes is "out of date". We ate at the Mexican and Italian and they we're fantastic. We ended up spending additional money to eat off the resort for lunch, up on playa Linda and if we didn't have a specialty restaurant booked we'd eat supper in town. Lastly, the lobby bar, in the evening is WAY too LOUD! We love sitting outside and having a couple of after dinner drinks and listening to some background music. You can't find that here. We met many nice people, enjoyed many laughs, beautiful sunsets and look forward to returning to the area.

Azul Grand Ixtapa is a great hotel. The staff, restaurants, bars, gym etc. are all are fantastic. This is our second stay at this hotel and again with no disappointments. The only thing that may be a let down to some is the lack of a great beach. If you are a pool person then no problem. There are beaches close by.

Amazing Place!

First and foremost the service we experienced from checkin to housekeeping was fantastic. It is an amazing resort - makes you feel like a millionaire. Great food and al la cartes. The beach is small but is right next door to two different great beaches. The infinity pool is so amazing sitting in there overlooking the ocean but other pools were very nice as well. Loved the bike tour and kayak/snorkelling tour. Lots of stuff to do nearby including shopping, crocodile refuge, excursions, buses into Ixtapa and Zhi. The rooms were large, beautiful, comfortable and had amazing fews over the ocean and sunsets. Would so go back again in a heartbeat. Liked that smoking was only in designated areas outside.
