I was at this hotel a few days ago, and it is a nice hotel, and people are really good in taking care of you. They are really making sure that you get what you want, great service at the pool, the waiter was always making sure that we had something to drink, not usual specially if is all inclusive. Good drinks, service was excellent, the buffet very goo. I really recommend this hotel. We were there for business, maybe not the best for that since they charge for internet, still something that I do no understand, why they charge you for that service. But if you go for vacation, excellent. More>

What an amazing staff at this hotel. Everyone very friendly and helpful. The room very nice with a very comfortable bed, waterfall shower, jacuzzi tub, and a nice sized balcony. Open the slider and there was plenty of wave sounds from the ocean. Tips: Turn on the TV to see the activity guide. We didn't until the last day, and saw all the things we could have done... Also it's not posted but the pool closed at 8pm. Check the restaurant reservation desk in the afternoon, you might be able to score an extra night in the 'menu' restaurants. We ate at the oriental one, it was very good. We were a bit concerned about the food temperatures in the buffet line as the hot food wasn't very hot, and the cold not very cold. Play it safe and hit one of the cooking stations :-) The evenings can be noisy so don't plan on sleeping before 10pm. More>

Would return. All-inclusive.

Can't say enough good things about the staff- the friendliness and helpfulness and great attitude. Excellent daily upkeep of rooms. Incredible displays with towels and flowers every day. Took more pictures of that than of the holiday itself. Showed so much caring for the guests. Huge rooms with a 2 person jacuzzi tub. Buffet is very large for breakfast but small for lunch and supper but the food in the buffet is excellent. I think the buffet is not as large as other resorts because we have access to extremely good restaurants for most of the meals and a huge buffet is not needed. Beautiful location. Good selection of pools. Also have access to the Azul resort and it's amenities. Walking distance to white sand beaches and a shopping area as good as we found elsewhere. Ixtapa Island adds another aspect to the vacation. Although we were very satisfied with all the places we have been in Mexico, this is the first one we plan on returning to. The only complaint we have is the rudeness of guests in saving places at the pools by or before 6:30 in the morning and sometimes not using the places until late in the afternoon, contrary to resort policy. One place we stayed at removed all towels at about 7:00-7:30 A.M. if noone was there. Wish the Azul Grand would do something like that. Overall, we can't recommend it enough. More>

This place has the perfect layout to every room. They all have belconies out to the ocean. Over looking the many pools. The location has a small sand beach but if you walk along the boardwalk alongp the ocean you will come to a bigger beach next to the sister resort. Or in the other direction there is a nice beach visited by locals, also really nice. This resort was one of the nicest I've stayed with. The staff was super friendly. The food was great. But be sure to visit the island! Try snorkeling out there. Beautiful. Just a short water taxi away. More>

We (my wife, 2 young sons, and myself) have recently returned from one week at the Grand Azul Ixtapa. We enjoyed our stay and our experience / impressions are mostly positive. Below are my quick thoughts on this resort. PROS The staff and the service was great. Management can be proud of the team they have assembled at Grand Azul. We found dinners a la carte restaurants (Mexican, Asian, and Italian) and lunch at the Oyster bar on the boardwalk to be very good. We thought the breakfast buffet (food, service, décor, and views) at the Mexican restaurant was also very good. Note that men will require long pants to be seated for dinner at the a la carte restaurants. The views from the rooms are amazing - this is a 24 floor building with all rooms facing west towards the ocean. The balconies are furnished and are a great place to start and end your day. The games room / main lounge was really good for us as a family after dinner. We could play foos ball, pool, billiards or table tennis. There's lots of seating and good service too. I found the gym to be very good. It is well equipped with modern equipment and provided towels, water, and even lifting belts. It was never very busy, especially in the late afternoon. CONS One con - This is a big resort... but on a small piece of land. The resort was not full during our stay but the pool areas (three total) were often crowded. We ensured we were down there by 9 am to secure a spot. The beach is tiny for a resort this size and you will have to descend three flights of stairs from the main building to reach it. If you're a beach person you can use the boardwalk to the sister resort which has a larger beach. If you are looking for an upscale modern resort with great service I would recommend Grand Azul!
