Nice but...

The hotel is nice, staff is super friendly, looking always to give you the best, facilities are really good, you can schedule several activities like kayak and snorkeling, bike tour with no extra cost, food is good but it could be better, beverages are just ok; rooms are beautiful and all of them have view to the beach, the sunset is awesome! Gardens are beyond beautiful! In overall is a good hotel, my only complaint is that I left a towel with some spots from my dye hair but the spots came out easily with just water and they charge me the towel because they said they couldn't remove the spots when I did with just water.

A Beautiful Resort

This hotel is probably the cleanest resort we have been to. Staff are always cleaning and the chambermaids do a wonderful job. The specialty restaurants at the hotel (3) are very good with a wide variety of food choices. All staff are friendly and the service is excellent. We had a couple of small issues with our room and called the front desk and the maintenance staff were there within 5 minutes. The hotel was near capacity while we were there yet never seemed full. There were always pool chairs so no getting up at 6:00 am to "reserve" a chair with a towel although people did anyway. We thoroughly enjoyed the resort and would return.

Beautiful resort but for a foodie, not the greatest

The rooms and view were impressive, all the rooms face the ocean. Our group was at the infinity pool everyday. Sidenote: hot tub there is a luke warm tub. The service was polite and quick. The biggest complaint from our group was that that food wasn't great. The everyday buffet was just OK... unimaginative. One morning they had a slow cooked beef that was delicious...but it was breakfast. There are 4 A La Carte restaurants: Mexican, Asian, Italian and the Oyster House (seafood...but no crab or lobster). Asian was our favourite, each restaurant had one good course but overall just disappointing. For dessert our never-fail default choice was the lime sorbet. We did the kayak trip across to the Island 'Playa Linda' which was really nice. You have to make the reservation with Activities. They didn't give us all of the details though (the activities woman didn't speak much english). You paddle to the island, then stay on the island for just less than an hour. You spend 20 minutes snorkelling (which we didn't because we didn't want to use the communal equipment), then we had a bite to eat and beer at one of the local restaurants (thank goodness we brought some cash). Overall it was a good time. We also had massages on the beach. Just by the sister hotel (Azul), there is a massage hut. We talked her down to 200 pesos for an hour. Don't let the older woman massage you, ask for one of the younger girls. She's nice and all, but she either spends time on her phone or directing her other staff. You could also hear the chatter and noise from the resort, like them calling bingo. If you go further down the beach there are 2 massage huts next to each other. They spent more time on massaging, less talking and less outside noise. One the other side of the Grand Azul there is a beautiful beach that is worth strolling down, just ask for directions on how to get there because you can't walk along the beach because of the rocks.

Nice resort.

We visited this resort Jan 5-12, 2017 with our two daughters aged 12 & 13. Overall the resort was well maintained, very clean, lots of security around the property. The food was very good in all of the restaurants, but the buffet was a bit underwhelming. Nightly entertainment at the open air lot next door was alright. The tribute to Michael Jackson was the best show of the week. No impersonator, but a wonderful tribute to his musical genius. The hotel has outstanding views of the Pacific Ocean, wonderful sunsets and a short trip to nearby Ixtapa Island is worth viewing the hotel from a different vantage point. The hotel really has no beach. But a short walk through a parking lot does bring you to a clean, open beach which was safe and pleasant. Pools at the resort are the cleanest we've seen. We travel regularly to all inclusive resorts so I tip my hat to the staff maintaining the pools because as we know, many guests stand in the same spot for 8 hours in the pool drinking alcohol and never get out to use the restrooms! Having said that, I'm always dumbfounded by the amount of adults who drink themselves into oblivion whilst on vacation. Nothing is more distateful than public intoxication. I take full advantage of the opportunity by using this undesirable behaviour as a teachable moment to my young daughters! Overall, the property offers good value if you are looking for a clean, well-run facility.

Great value, beautiful views from almost everywhere

We went to the Azul Grand with 3 other couples, we all stayed on different floors, and we all had amazing views, big balconies, very clean, very nice rooms, comfortable, big jaccuzzi tubs. The food was pretty good for an all inclusive package, some meals were sent back, cold, or too much sauce, but for the most part, we enjoyed it, including the buffet, which we are usually not fans of. The pools are GREAT, especially the infinity pool! The fitness facility is great, and the general services were good! The only real complaint was the beach, too rocky, but the connected beach around the corner was great, so just a 2 minute walk to the sister resort was worth it. I still spent hours in the ocean, on our resort beach, so my biggest tip: BRING water shoes and sunscreen! We also did some of the activities provided, including the bike ride around the eco park with a guide, and it was OK too, but I wished we would have stopped for a 1 minute picture break a couple more times on the pretty easy 1.5 hour ride. I would reccomend it though. For the price of this vacation, I CANNOT complain, and we would like to go back with our family!
