My trip didn't start off right as the airlines cancelled flights and delayed my arrival. Upon entering the hotel everyone greets you with a smile and is willing to help. Once I meet with Delfino I got a little worried as he told me I was needing to speak to a manger about my stay. All I could think was what else could go wrong. Need less to say he was helpful to answer all my questions and still keep me from worrying about why I needed to see the manager. Once Jose Rojo introduced himself he was nothing less then a face for the hotel. Apologizing for work needing to be done to the suite I was renting for the week. Nothing within his control on the work needing to be done. Offered me different options for my stay. Both gentlemen went above and beyond to make sure I was going to be happy with my stay. I work in customer service and they both put me to shame I would have to say. They give me something to go back home and strive to do the job they do. Upon making my decision on my room the bell boys were ready to take the bags up and make sure I didn't have to carry anything, The room was spotless and clean. The service of the food handlers and bar tenders where all looking to make my stay unforgettable. Its only been 1 day and I can't wait to see what the rest of the stay looks like. Thank you for not just doing your job but doing it well. To all the employees that make this place home.

The number one thing when I go on vacation is I do not want to hear the word no! The second thing when I go on vacation is I don't want to spend my time standing in line. The good-the rooms are beautiful The staff are amazing, apart from the fact that they are told to tell you that you are not allowed in this restaurant more than once, or if you want to book an ala carte then you must stand in this line, totally antiquated, evolve! It is true that the buffet is horrible by the way. Extremely disappointing. I would never, ever recommend this resort to anyone. I would however recommend the area, it is beautiful. I would just find a different resort

Highs and lows make this hard to review; not great for families

Stayed with my family for a week at the end of August. First, some highlights 1) Every room has an outstanding ocean view 2) The staff are excellent 3) The property is exceptionally clean and well maintained 4) The buffet was suprisingly good and the drink options were also good 5) The evening shows were pretty good So... if the above checks all your boxes, you'll love this place. For family travel, though, there are better options. Some critiques: 1) The beach is small and not very nice. There is no beach bar / service on the beach. There are 2 beaches that can be accessed relatively easily; Playa Linda is a 5 minute walk along the boardwalk. Playa Quieta is fantastic, but access is through a "locked" gate beaside the archery range... it would be so easy to make access to this beach a key feature instead of making you feel like you are sneaking out of jail. 2) While the hotel has a full activity schedule, there are age limits that make even family activities challenging. The "Family" bike ride requires participants to be 9. Kayaking and sailing are only offered as part of a tour and have minimum ages of 12 and 10, respectively. 3) Contrary to earlier reviews, you do not get automatic access to the facilities at the other property (Azul Ixtapa). This policy changed earlier this year. 4) There are no shaded pool areas, other than in the cave, which is adults only (even if no adults are in there and the cave bar is closed) 5) For some reason, the hotel charges you to play mini-golf... huh? 6) The food quality in the specialty restaurants is OK... wine selection is minimal So... if you are looking for a family beach vacation, this isn't the place for you. Check out Club Med instead. If you want good service, great views, a well maintained and clean property, and have no kids, this might be a good choice.

We had a very nice time at this resort. The all inclusive feature is good. You do not go hungry there! My kids loved ordering drinks by the pool. All non-alcoholic. The snack bar by the pool was very good.

My husband and I wanted to stay in an all-inclusive resort in ZIH, unfortunately, there's not many to choose from, so we chose the Azul based on price and availability. I'll start with what we didn't like and then move to what we did enjoy. Disliked - we requested a king size bed when we booked the hotel and ended up with 2 queen/full-size beds. We tried to sleep on the bed closest to the window and it was very uncomfortable (lumpy and hard), so we moved to the other bed the following night and it was a tad bit better. The room needs a refresh - it looked and felt a little outdated. The food was ok and the pool was incredibly crowded. Enjoyed - Our view from our room was breathtaking and the sunsets were gorgeous. We also really enjoyed our daily walks on the beach away from the crowded beach in front and adjacent to our hotel. If you walk towards the pier and around to the other side of the pier. It's truly a night and day scenario - it's serene, feels remote and secluded. You basically have the entire beach to yourselves for miles. After walking about a mile, you'll reach a section of the beach where you'll watch fisherman that are waist deep in the water fishing with a net and/or spear. Absolutely fascinating experience to watch them catch fish this way. That was my favorite part of the trip, the remote side of the beach of this hotel!
