Our beach server Nancy Lopez and James our pool butler went over and above anyone on the resort. They are now part of our life memories and wish them all the best in their future endeavours. This resort is so lucky to have them. Also a big shout out to Luis from the kids pizza hut as he remember our boy every time he walked in and rested him as royalty! Remembered his pizza and even brought him one on one of our special dinner evenings! He is as well a special employee! Thank you to these three staff for making our trip the most memorable!

Unmatched service from our Butler Luis and his staff. Noel and the other servers in the restaurant made us feel like royalty. The property is beautiful with clean and spacious rooms . The beach is kept clean and raked of sea weed daily. Everywhere you look there are swimming pools. Wait staff does a good job of bringing you a cool refreshing drink when needed anywhere at the resort. The food and food choices are incredible. This was the best vacation of my life. A great place to take your children and grand children. We will be back next year.

I travelled with my family, 4 adults and my 2 small grand children, both under the age of 4. What a pleasant surprise to find a resort that actually provided a 5+. star service at all levels. The rooms where very comfortable and clean, with no surprises. The restaurants were all gourmet, the only resort I have been to where I was looking forward to my next meal. The beach was exceptional, except for a few days where there were weeds washing up on shore, but were promptly cleaned up, unfortunately no one can predict mother nature. Like any organization this resort had a few key people that made our stay very enjoyable, Gaby in the Blue restaurant, Alberto in the activity department, Marco serving us drinks and snacks constantly on the beach and unfortunately many more that I cannot remember all their names. It seemed that they could not do enough for you. My compliments to the resort manager Antonio Denotti for preparing and training his staff to make our stay exceptional. I have never been to the same resort twice, but I think in this case I will make an exception

After a slight mix-up with our transportation, the Amstar transport driver accidently confused our resort with another one which resulted in an hour longer transportation ride. My best friend, her 9 year old daughter and I arrived at Azul Beach for a quiet "girls getaway." We were greeted with champagne and a smoothie for my friend's daughter. The service continued to impress through the entire visit. The resort and grounds are immaculate. The staff are always accessible and going out of their way to help in any way. We enjoyed our dining experiences in all the restaurants but my favorite was having tacos on the beach:) This resort clearly caters to families with very young children. Most of the children were from infancy to five years old. I did not see any teenagers and there were very few children from 8-10 years old. This presented as a problem for my friend's daughter. She was very excited to participate in the activities noted on the website and although the staff were eager to engage, the activities are geared for much younger children. The Nickelodeon center had many toddlers and young children and she did not want to stay. When we returned to look at the arts and crafts activities, again, these were for much younger children. The resort balances providing a very family friendly atmosphere with not being a "kiddie resort." The highlight of the trip was definitely one of our servers, Marco!! He was amazing. The service was consistent, even on busier days, he remembered our orders and anticipated what we needed next. He completely made our stay very relaxing....never having to get up from a chaise lounger!! Thanks Marco!! Although the resort and staff are attentive and amazing, as a mother of 18 and 16 year old sons, this is not an option for a family vacation. I also understand this is not a demographic they are looking for. However, I wish I had known about Azul Beach when the boys were little, it would have been incredible. The reason that I gave the resort 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of "advertised" age appropriate activities for my friend's daughter, which was precisely the reason for staying there.

Karisma Steps It Up Again!

This is going to be long, but I've got so much to share. I hope it helps some people evaluate the resort. Wife, 9 year old daughter, and I spent 6 wonderful nights again at the Azul Beach All-Inclusive Resort by Karisma. This was the 4th year in a row we have vacationed here, and I have to say, although it was great that first year, the food and service have consistently improved each year. It is such a beautiful beach with the 2nd largest reef in the world right off the coast. Excellent and easy snorkeling can be had right from the resort. Thanks to the reef and a man-made barrier to protect the swimming area, you can usually enjoy safe, calm water for your family to play. We have snorkeled right off the beach to see small rays, starfish, crabs, an array of colorful fish, and even a barracuda. SERVICE WITH A SMILE! We have stayed at other resorts where it seemed nobody working there wanted to be there--worse, it seemed they didn't want you there! The Azul Beach staff set a high standard when it comes to service and making you feel welcome. Now that we've been a few years (no, we are not members), we've enjoyed getting to know a few of the folks a little. Since we spend so much time on the beach enjoying the ocean and our cabana bed, the beach butlers are some of our favorite folks. Joann, Jared, and Charly worked very hard to ensure our family was comfortable and having a great time on the beach! They would greet us each day, bring us towels, setup lounge chairs for us, etc. It is Sam's job to encourage activities such as bocce ball, Spanish lessons, dance lessons, water aerobics, etc. She was a lot of fun! I learned a bit more Spanish, too! The breakfast is one of my favorite parts of the experience. Alin was our omelet chef, and she cooked our custom omelets perfectly each day. Her smile was wonderful! Speaking of smiles, we did miss our friend, Fidel, who used to manage the restaurants. We were told he works at another Karisma resort now. He has the best smile in the world. It is impossible to see Fidel and be unhappy. We hope you are doing well, amigo! Several of the waiters went above and beyond to ensure we were having a great experience. Noel, Reuben, Mortimoto to start. The young Antonio served us in Latino. We had not seen him before so assume he is relatively new with the resort. He provided excellent service. Also new this year and a delight--Malaka will make you smile for sure! I can't forget Gabby! Gabby is a head waitress who likes to make you smile. She is constantly running to make sure everyone is comfortable. Special thanks to Cesar Belmont (hope we got his name right) who has served us the last 4 years. Both this year and last, Cesar has made our final dinner at Roma a wonderful and memorable experience. When dining in Roma, ask for the "Cesar appetizer" It's not on the menu, but I'm told the chefs will know what it means. Cesar orders it special for us, and it's the best appetizer at the resort. There is no excuse to go thirsty or hungry at Azul Beach! The drink waiters are always making the rounds. A few of the folks who took special care of us include: Armando, Mateo, and Shirley. Special thanks to Marco who went out of his way to help us find some fun non-alcoholic drinks our family could enjoy. We enjoyed talking with these folks, learning a bit about their lives, and learning a little bit more Spanish. I am happy to report that the quality of food and service has gone up each year. It was already very good, and now it is excellent. Somehow, Karisma has continued to up the game. I like to remind folks that all things are relative. This resort is "gourmet". I live in Kansas City. There are a several restaurants with a few miles of my house where I can get better food than most of what I eat at Azul Beach. I don't expect to get a better steak on a Mexico beach than I can get in Kansas City. The local Cheesecake Factory serves better pasta and better desert than I can get at Azul Beach. That said, we enjoyed every meal during our week at Azul Beach. The quality and variety are amazing. We have stayed at Cancun resorts where we literally did not enjoy a single meal the entire week. Karisma's "gourmet" is a very big reason why we choose Azul Beach. THE SPA! My wife, daughter, and I get a massage every year in the spa. My girls also get facials, pedicures, etc. The spa is excellent! Considering local wages, I would have expected the spa services to be slightly more affordable. I can purchase similar spa services here in the states for the same or less money. But...TOTALLY WORTH IT! :) We've not had any bad service in the spa, but Norma is our favorite therapist. Her massage is magic. My wife says it was the best massage she has ever had. It ranks right up there for me, as well. A bit of "bad" news, and it is not Karisma's fault. The beach/ocean experience has degraded a bit each year. I am not sure how much is due to time of year, recent storms, tides, or more permanent trends. The first 2 years we had very clean and clear water. Last year we dealt with a lot of seaweed and a small amount of trash (mostly plastic packaging) could be found in the water. This year, the seaweed was prevalent again, but there was a lot more trash. It had been stormy just before we arrived, and the ocean was quite high and active. Thus a lot of debris and sand was stirred up in the water making it cloudy. It is my assumption that the issues were mostly a temporary result of the recent storms. Normally the trash (stupid humans!) stays more out of sight when the water is calm. Karisma has men working hard all day every day raking up the beach to keep it nice. Most of the trash and organic debris floats and tumbles in an area at the water's edge. It seems like you could use a large net and 3 or 4 people could drag that area to collect most of this crap. I know it would be a never-ending job, but could greatly improve the experience for families who get to enjoy the ocean 1 week a year. As for the rooms, all are immaculate. "Deluxe" rooms are the lower-cost rooms. The more expensive rooms are all swim-up and offer 1, 2, and 3 room suites. Many of the Deluxe rooms actually have better ocean views. Deluxe Villas 5 & 6 are next to Aquanox Bar where nightly entertainment is common. They don't run very late, but if you are concerned about sleeping early, you could try to avoid 5 & 6. It was not a problem for us at all, but I've heard others mention it kept them up. We always stay in a "Deluxe" room (the lowest cost they offer), and love it every time regardless of which villa. WiFi is free and impressive. The WiFi worked everywhere--your room, lobby, restaurants, at the pool, even lounging on the beach in your cabana bed. We used it for WiFi calling all week. Our daughter even streamed Netflix every day without any hiccups. Azul Beach used to charge for WiFi that was lesser quality. THANK YOU, Karisma! My biggest tip is to tip! As I understand, Karisma treats their people well. These are good jobs, but very low-paying jobs. While tipping is optional, these folks need tips to make these jobs worthwhile. Most staff work 6 days a week, 8 to 10 hours a day. Learn a few works in Spanish--enough to be gracious and grateful. Ask them about their lives, their family, where they live. :) We have found that even some staff whose facial expression may make you assume they are not friendly, light up when you ask them about their family.
