We were riped off by aple. There is NO way this hotel is a five golden apple. It was dirty, the lagoon was dirty, on the rare ocassion I entered it, I pulled out garbage. Time share experience awful

Stay away from doing their time share (or whatever they want to call it). The first sales person was very friendly, however when it became evident we weren't buying, a second person was brought in. He was older with a strong German accent and was very aggressive to the point of being abusive and bullying. He was relentless in attempting to get us to part with some of our money and I had to tell him my wife and I didn't like being belittled and bullied. The other complaint I had was that when I came back home, I emailed the resort three times to get some information about one of the on-resort stores and never even heard back from them on a request which would have taken all of about 5 minutes to respond to... disappointing. The other 2 negatives about the resort were the lack of a beach (didn't think I would miss it!) and the distance to a town or city. My wife and I like to walk and while the resort is quite large, it would have been nice to walk on the beach or walk around town. But, enough of the negatives... the resort is very nice, the room was very nice and included a jacuzzi, mini bar, free wifi and the shower water pressure and temperature were always excellent. The food was excellent and even after 2 weeks, we never got tired of it. The resort credits were very good and we each had 3 massages, a "romantic" dinner and another special dinner. We used up all $2,500 we were given and enjoyed it immensely. The resort staff were very friendly. Both the Spa and the connecting "Cove" resort were relatively quiet... being on the 'adults only' side was especially quiet. Other than some construction going on at the "Cove" resort, we didn't really notice any change over to the Hard Rock - other than the previously mentioned time share debacle. Outside of the resort, we took a few tours. The jeep safari was interesting, but the 2.5 hour drive (one-way) on very rough roads was uncomfortable. Our tour guide was entertaining though. We also took a catamaran tour which included a stop at Tulum. Unfortunately, the latter stop was disappointing. The tour guide had a problem getting into Tulum and we were very rushed once inside. The tour guide did a very quick narrative at a few places, then when it was over he made sure to ask for a tip... and then quickly left - leaving many people on their own to find their way back to the meeting place to take the bus back.... unprofessional. Overall though, our 2 weeks was very nice. It was our first stay at a 4+ star hotel and we weren't disappointed in that aspect - especially with the resort credits.
