GREAT HOTEL

This was our 2nd time at the Aruba Marriott and again, we had a great time. I have to say the staff there is awesome! They got out of their way to be helpful. Catherine, Vangie, Alba and Elly, at La Vista, greeted us at breakfast every morning, smiling. The staff at the adult pool, Diana Rivera, Micher, and Adrian, were always polite and very helpful! And I can’t leave out Beverly at the front desk and Jennyfer, the concierge. They all are just really nice people!!! We’re hoping to back next year!

II booked a trip with Jet Blue Vacations for a trip to Aruba. To be clear, this was apparently our first mistake. My wife and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary, and this was the very first trip we went on without our children. Upon check in at the Marriott, the very first thing we were told by Michael" at the front desk is they could not honor our reservation. He told us we had booked through a "3rd" party, and the room that we had reserved for our trip to was unavailable. If Marriott accepts 3rd party reservations what difference should that make? We accepted a lesser room, looking forward to enjoying a great trip together. Well apparently, the bedroom we were given was as far away from the ocean as you could get at this resort, (We paid for a King Premium Ocean View Guest Room). This was our first time visiting the island, at the accommodations page of the airlines vacation website the resort was listed in order of ratings. The Marriott being a major resort chain, we thought it would be a good choice. As we found out, the hotels are aligned on one side of the island, and begin at the "Low rise hotels, to the high rise hotels, which is where this Marriott is located. The problem being the proportion of space available by the beach (Why go to an island to stay at a pool which has its views of the beach/ocean blocked by the rows deep of people and the Palapa’s (Kind of shade huts to sit under. )There is simply not enough room at the beach for the amount of guests staying at the resort. When we tried to get a chair to sit on the beach, I was shooed away from an area of the hotel beach that is apparently only for VIP Marriott members. While I was not trying to use the area, there were chairs stacked high that I could not use, nor was the staff attending the VIP area helpful in anyway about how or where I could go on the property to get help finding a chair. Apparently if you’re not "In the club" you are not worthy of assistance. So I am a "Lesser Class" of guest because I booked through a 3rd party... I am a "Lesser Class" of guest not being a Marriott VIP. Really? Okay this is all on day one, tired from travel, and the stress of not having our room, then being kicked out of an area that is not clearly marked because we wanted a simple chair. Oh, and let's not forget the constant barrage of solicitors trying to sell us a time share, a ride on the water, a deal on a restaurant, Jewelry, Etc... Some were so bold as to actually walk on property (We were later told that is not allowed, but happened anyway) wherever we were, there was someone trying to sell us something. The resort took advantage of this effort, calling us twice and leaving us 3 messages on our room phone to "Stop by for your complimentary Gift” Bryan is actually trying to sell you on a vacatioin club membership..Ha! We are tired and hungry so let's go get something to eat. It's a Saturday night; the resort's main restaurant had a one dish buffet that night, no thanks. Their second restaurant is a well-known Steak Chain from the States, okay but don't really want to get dressed up just to eat on our first night. Found out the lobby bar serves food, very busy (Not a problem at a Resort lobby bar/restaurant) ordered some drinks finally; by the time we could order the food we were totally exhausted. Not a problem the bar tender tells us, we can get it to go and bring it back to our room...Okay!... Not so okay... we get up to our room, open it up and Ughh!! COLD, and not edible. Call down to the bar immediately, reassured that we will be credited. Terrible night’s sleep, neither my wife or I have perspired in our sleep unless we were running a fever, this room broke that record. Had the A/C set a low as it could go, not sure but did notice that the thermostat has a motion detector. A not so funny coincidence that the air conditioning kicked on when my wife got out of bed and passed by the thermostat. Day2... Went down t the lobby, purchased a coffee, and noticed a group of managers talking at a table by the bar. Mentioned our first day, and the promised credit, While ignoring the first day's events, the manager only addressed the credit, which I was told that it takes a few day's to process. Charges appear immediately, credits apparently not so fast. Check the next day, not only were we not credited, we were double charged!! Day 2 was a bust; no sleep got us out late and groggy. Hoped for better results at the beach, happy not to see the private boater, but still crowded as heck. Per Aruba's own laws, the actual beach is public, which sounds fine, but that equates to boaters being able to drop anchor at the beach, blast their music as loud as they want, barbecue, smoke or whatever regardless of the annoyance for most of us trying to enjoy the waterfront. In addition there are the water sports vendors (Not affiliated with the resort) that have their own dedicated channels for their boats leading to the beach, zooming in and out to take people on their watercraft. This means that you and everyone else staying at the resort had to endure the crowding, the noise, the wakes from the boats, and the trash left all over the beach with no one picking up the mess. But, if a lounge is not being used, it is quickly picked up, so the "Chair-Man" his own made moniker can "help you out with one" and don't forget to help him out... I'm told, and other reviews have mentioned that other areas closer to the low rise properties have more open space, perhaps due to the fact that they have about the same amount of beachfront, with much less rooms, meaning less people. Other reviews have pointed out that the pool and bar areas have music going, not a surprise, and if you had the beach to retreat to, not a problem, but you don't. This is not going well, 2nd night another restless, hot perspiring time in bed (Wish I could say "sleep"). 3rd day, feeling very disappointed and tired (Wife equates that to grumpy..) So while I try to muster the energy to give the day a try, my wife says she will meet me out at the beach, I don't blame her, and envious of her ability to get up and outside. Turns out she did not go the beach, she went to the front desk and begun to literally cry to the Manager Juan Carlos, She's not a crier :-( .... He agrees to move us to the room we were promised a King Premium Ocean View Guest Room, instead he put us in a King Partial Ocean View Guest Room (Still not what we paid for)... offers us a credit to use on property, initially not much, after the hassle to move rooms, disappointment of the room we were switched to we went down to the front desk to meet with the manager who had told my wife to meet him there so he could explain what he had done to accommodate us.. He is in a meeting, the assistant Manager Shemuel says there are only Suites available, and he can't help. Wait for the manager... day 3 goes by in the room or lobby waiting... mentioned the double charge, not a credit from night one, the assistant manager says he will talk to accounting upstairs. There we are in the lobby wishing we could be anywhere else, but wasting another precious vacation day away.. Reservations not honored, room still hot, food bad, beach crowded and loud, purveyors attacking you from all fronts.. This is not paradise. Know this; if you are looking for a quiet peaceful island beach vacation, this is not it.

Love Aruba and we love the Marriott. We only stay at this hotel because the service is outstanding from the housekeeping staff, pool workers and waitstaff. We also want to give a special shout out to Daniel, Alix and Sandra who always take great care of us at the lobby bar 🍸. Highly recommend the Marriott Stellaris!!!

We loved our stay here. Please understand that the 4 stars should NOT be interpreted as a negative rating at all - i am just not a casual with my 5-star ratings as most people are. So - from start to finish. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiles and welcomes. Check in was a breeze. We had our keys and were on our way in a few minutes. Our room was, in a word, amazing. I opted for the corner junior suite - because I treat my lady right. The view is just as you see it in the pictures. Lots of light, lots of blue. The view is unreal. The balcony was huge and comfortable. The bed was just firm enough. We had plenty of space. Service of the room was excellent throughout our 5-night stay. The staff was friendly every day. Our only complaint as to our arrival was that they did not provide a toothbrush. My wife always forgets hers - it would not be a vacation if she didn't. When i called on the phone i was told that the hotel did not provide toothbrushes. However, when i went downstairs the front desk advised that they were out of them. Hmmm. Anyway, we bought one for $2.50 in the shop, which really wasn't too bad, all things considered. The gym was fantastic. Open, airy. New machines and plenty of them. Good music. Free bottles of water and fruit. An attendant on duty usually. There were two pools - the adults-only pool and the other one. The adults only pool was quiet. VERY quiet. No music. in fact, when one of the bartenders put some music on they were told to shut it off. I like it quiet, but some chill background tunes are nice too. The pool was otherwise great. Comfy chairs and no problem getting one. The bartender was friendly and they have a 2-for-1 happy hour. The only issue we had is that the 2-4-1 was only on well drinks and beers. I would have gladly paid more for better stuff but whatev. We went to the other pool a couple of times. Once was at night - it is open all night which is cool. It was quiet and fun. During the day - not so much. There were not that many kids - but what made it loud was the band. We thought it would be fun to go to the swim-up bar and throw back a few drinks. Well, as soon as we got there the band started. And I have no idea what they were playing. I was expecting some reggae or merengue, etc. This was just loud. Like, really, really loud. So we went to the beach... We went to the beach several times. Here's my review - and the main reason this is not a 5-star review. As other reviewers have noted, the palapa reservation system is just...wrong. You can go at 4pm to reserve the palapa for the next day - or you can also go at 7 am (that is NOT a typo) and reserve it for that day. But they only give out so many free ones. I even tried to rent one for $30, thinking it would be closer to the water. Nope - those are in the back. Makes no sense. It was annoying af lining up like a doofus and waiting for the chance to get a free palapa. In the end, it does not even matter for 2 reasons. First, if you go in the afternoon, just grab an abandoned palapa. Second, you can just ask the guys to set you up with some chairs in the shade. Or right in front. That's right - you can have the guys to set you up with chairs IN FRONT of the palapas. So while you have a direct view of the beautiful blue water, the people in the palapa behind you (who likely woke up at 5am to get in line) will be looking at the back of your head. One thing i will say is that drink service was quick and friendly. Never had any problems getting a drink. However, i did have an issue with the pads on the chairs. That is, there just weren't any. They were just standard plastic. C'mon! Put a pad on there! I'm lying on my butt for 7 hours! The grounds were great, the location excellent. More food and shopping options would be good, but what can you do - there are other hotels and a mall close by. I loved that we could walk to every hotel on Palm Beach right on the beach - there's a path. I went to the Ritz every night to hit up the casino. The casino at the Marriott was large enough - but too packed in with slot machines. A second craps table would have been welcome. But again, the casino at the Ritz next door was great - very high ceilings made you feel comfortable. Overall, we had an amazing time. Thanks!

Visited the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino when I attended my cousins wedding for five nights in July. The website to book our rooms which were part of the wedding block was horrible. Upon arrival we learned that there was in error in one of the rooms booked (or so they said) and we ended up in a room with a king bed instead of two queens. That was only the beginning of our concerns, our room was not cleaned until almost dinner time each day. When we complained it was still not corrected the next day. We had a room on the second floor which must have been right above the casino because we were able to hear the comedy show and guests laughing . The manager was resistant to compensating us for all of the difficulties, but did agree to a small discount. Another down side is that you are expected to pay in advance to reserve chairs and palapas and the staff that are supposed to help you can be rude if you have not paid in advance. Aruba is the perfect Caribbean island and I plan to visit often, but I would never stay at this property again. I must add that my cousins wedding was absolutely perfect, the wedding planner was amazing--i hope she takes her wonderful skills to a better property.
