Good but not King Size
WALTER M.
Jan 20 2019
We were supposed to have a King Size bed but upon check in on Wednesday we were told that was not available until Saturday. We did not want to move after 3 nights so we said no. They did give us a $75 credit but we did not get what we signed up for!

Excellent service and a great time for everyone. The entire experience was amazing and the bartender at the beach (Jhune) what the best!! I have to make sure that the hotel management knows just how great he was! I only issue is that trying to reach the hotel to verify my points were added to my Marriott Rewards Program could have been better. I'm still waiting to hear back from the and I emailed the hotel last Thursday. It is now Sunday.

Just wish everyone was on the same page with the rental of beach corerage. We were told different prices each time and the last day we decided to stay on the beach and pay for the palapals. We were told by the front desk tht there was a $50 deal that if you spent $40 on food and beverage that you got the palapals for $10 dolors and the food covered the balance. Had we known this early in our trip we would have done this every day instead of getting up early to try and get umbrellas at the pool.

Beautiful beach and resort layout. The only thing that I was not happy with were the Concierge at the Hotel. I do not think they were affiliated with the hotel directly and gave poor directions for people who ahve never been there before. After an hour of dirving to find a restaruant they reccomended and starred on a really small map, when we returned to the hotel the next person provided us with a very detailed map specifically for that resaruant. Then in the morning when we asked for a resturant by name for breakfast, they told us where it was and we drove all the way to find out they do not servce breakfast and were not open. They probably should have been able to tell us that. Outside of that everything was great.

I would probably book myself through Marriott. I was thinking their would be a apple representative and there were none on the property. Mother transfers took too long - 1 hour. So we took a taxi back to airport that took only 20 minutes and 20 dollars.

wonderful hotel

We went to this hotel for one week the end of January. The hotel is very accommodating, clean and friendly. Highlights include waterfront (literally on the beach with toes in the sand) dining at Atardi, the beachfront hotel restaurant. We met chefs Caesar and Kelvin, who came out to our table and visited with us, then made us a special dish not on the menu. Their love for guests and for cooking was evident. We also were waited on by Juan and also Asdrubal. These wonderful people know how to serve. We feel like we became friends with all of these above mentioned staff over the course of the week. We enjoyed Atardi and the staff so much we ate there three nights. We couldn't get enough of the food or the hospitality. The Bouillabaisse is not to be missed! Make reservations for dinner, maybe even before you leave for your trip. The beach and pools were spotless. The breakfast buffet was supreme. Have breakfast on the veranda overlooking the ocean for a great start to the day. Be sure to book a thatched shelter as soon as you get to the hotel. The good ones go fast. The workout room is actually a two story building with very modern equipment. It was a great way to start the day. Be sure to bring lots of sunscreen. I have never seen so many burned, red bodies in my life. The sun is deceptively hot. You cannot tell how badly you are burning because of the constant balmy tradewinds blowing. Be careful. Our only bad experience was the HUGE religious group from New York who apparently come down to this hotel area in January. I understand they have been doing this for many years, apparently descending on the hotel area the last two weeks of January. There were MANY teens and tweens milling about at the pool, the ocean and the hotel lobby. It tended to be noisy. It did put a blemish on our week. Next time we go, we will be sure not to book over this period. One other recommendation. When we left to go home (Saturday-noon flight) it was recommended we leave the hotel to go to the airport four hours before the flight. Just to be safe, we allowed five hours. That was a good decision. We found five was less stressful. Four hours can be cutting it close, depending on the traffic to the airport and the busyness of the airport. Be forewarned. All in all a wonderful, restful vacation. We will be going back and we will stay here again.

We spent one night at stellaris before 9 nights at Surf Club next door. Pool and swim up bar are awesome. Beautiful beaches. We had a gorgeous view from our room. I got upgraded as a Gold Elite. Our first night we had dinner at La Vista Buffet. It was wonderful. We never got a chance to try the lobster buffet on Saturday but certainly will next visit. Breakfast buffet was yummy and service was outstanding. Although I prefer the villas at Surf for my family over a hotel room, service at Stellaris blew the service at surf Club away.

We love starting our day at La Vista! The view is amazing and the food is always great! But most importantly is the friendly welcoming staff! Especially Yokasia, Liza and the fantastic omelet maker! They were excellent!

My boyfriend and I travel every winter to a Caribbean destination. This was our first time in Aruba and we were definitely outsiders. The large majority of this crowd has been 10+ times to the island. We didn't mind being outsiders though because most every staff at the hotel was incredibly warm and sincere when speaking to us (except for the Adult pool main bar guy-- he was either naturally grumpy or just did not like that we ordered from the bar and went back to our chairs). Items to note: 1. I am sensitive to cigarette smoke and did not notice it as a problem at all as stated in other reviews (I did not visit the casino though) 2. The walls and floors are thin so yes, you may hear some loud folks especially if they've come in from a late night. Our room overlooked the main pool which I quite enjoyed and did not notice the noise from the pool being an issue (I also don't take midday naps in my hotel room to where it might be). 3. There are iguanas EVERYWHERE! Generally speaking, these things run away if you walk close; however, if you have food ordered to your chairs THEY GET HUNGRY. And then, they look you in the EYE and climb up your chair and try to take your FRENCH FRIES (no joke). You wouldn't think Marriott would need to post signs that say 'Don't feed the wild animals' but they really should. The reason these iguanas are so aggressive with food is there are people who are so easily entertained that they feel the need to feed the iguanas from their plates or leftover foods. It's a terrible habit for these creatures-- they are just going to develop a french fry addiction like all of us Americans!!! **siiiiigh** 4. The airport-- Traffic took us 45 minutes to get to the airport from the hotel. We flew out on a Thursday and do not have Global Precheck. You go through Aruba automatic passport control, then Aruba security, then US Customs, then US security. It took us 20 minutes.... I could see the weekends being more chaotic with all of these steps but on a Thursday for a 4:30pm flight, it was a non-issue. 5. Eduardo's Beach Shack and Scott's Brats are AMAZING places that are not too far of a walk from the resort for breakfast and lunch. They are very reasonably priced and the food and people were fantastic. The chicken tenders appetizer from the Waves bar reminds me of the chicken tenders I had in elementary school growing up. No flavor and even less chicken. Save your $15 and go get 5 hot dogs/brats from Scotts. 6. Breakfast is served at La Vista and as Platinum member you get complimentary continental breakfast. At no point did the other food look good enough to warrant spending $50+ on. I was grateful for the free breakfast but I also still went to Eduardo's down the beach for the most amazing acai bowl every morning. 7. Speaking of platinum, yes- do not expect an upgrade (not a big deal to me). They do provide discounts to other expensive restaurants in the area and $7 off expensive aloe (much needed!!) 8. We did not try to play the palapa game although the reservations are online now instead of physically standing in line. The peacefulness and shade options at the adult pool are more ideal as the beach gets crowded and hot with lots of sun. 9. Bring a water bottle as their water is very safe for drinking and they have a refillable stations 10. The sun is ALWAYS out. It's amazing!! Just remember ample sunscreen or else you will have crunchy burned skin at night Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.. there were a few annoyances as stated above but nothing enough to deter me from coming back. Between the weather and the islanders, I understand why Aruba has so many repeat visitors.

Excellent resort with beautiful beach and pool

My husband and I just finished our stay at this resort. We stayed for 5 nights. Since we are platinum for life, we were upgraded and enjoyed all of the amenities for elite members. We did pay a little extra per night to upgrade our room to a full ocean view. I would recommend room#637 if you would like a great view! As you can see from the photos, this room is just about centered and offers a beautiful view of the pool and ocean. During our stay we found our room to be clean and the rest of the resort was also very clean. There is a very large Starbucks located right inside the lobby and it is convenient for a quick coffee or breakfast. We dined at the Ruth’s Chris restaurant two nights. Our meals were excellent both times. We enjoyed breakfast a few mornings at La Vista. There was a large selection of items served buffet style or you could also order off the menu. There are 2 pools at this resort. One is adult only and the other is the family style pool. We did not travel with children yet we found ourselves staying at the family pool. The reason why is because we enjoyed the layout and atmosphere of this pool a bit better. The adult pool was completely quiet. People were there to relax and read books. We preferred the more lively scene at the family pool as there was either live music or stereo music each day. There was also a swim up bar at the family pool (go figure). We had no problem getting chairs around the pool. However, we did get up each morning between 7-8am to reserve them with towels. We also had no issue getting chairs near an umbrella. Now onto the beach palapa situation. My advice is to go directly to the beach towel hut as soon as you arrive and pay the $30 per day to rent one for 3 days straight. We did this and we were assigned to a different palapa each day. So, you don’t get the same actual palapa for the 3 day reservation. This was fine as we found ourselves moving from the palapa back to the pool because of the wind blowing the sand. Alternatively, you can try to go online each day at 4pm to reserve a palapa. This is difficult to do because the site gets jammed with so many people trying to log in at the same time. One day we ate lunch at the lobby sushi bar and it was very good. You can also place a “to go” order there and enjoy your sushi on the beach. Overall, I would definitely stay at this property again and recommend to others.
