Wow..... The hotel is awful our room was dirty had ripped and old towels asked for new ones never got them, 2nd day into holiday had a shower was all hair and dirt from previous people in there, our toilet got blocked in the morning had to ask 4 times for someone to come and look at it this was not fixed until the evening !! Asked Rep Andrew on 2nd day to move hotel he said would call my friends mobile as phone in room did not work did not hear or see from him the rest off the week!!! Sun beds are sooo old there collapse as soon as you lay on then they are very dirty with bird poo and green stuff on them, pools are filthy tiles come off!!! The beach is definitely not a 'white sand' beach what it states in brochure in fact it's dirty with Barbados locals that just harass you. Also you had the drunk security guard walking up and down the beach!!! The La cartes were shut 3 times a week this also was not mentioned in brochure when holiday was booked, also had stray cats in the restaurants wanting your food which I found very off putting when eating dinner as they are everywhere. My friend came up in an allergic reaction went to reception to get help and they could not of cared less stood there and said 'what do you want us to do'. Was out there for my birthday and nothing was done when on previous holidays things were done / put on for me was very disappointed!!! The staff are very rude and not at all helpful and that's probably cause the hotel is closing in April still not good though!!! Have always gone through Thomas cook to book holidays and this one is the worst I've had the hotel is not a 4* what is says in the brochure and online id give it a 2* at a push and I've stayed in 2* and they have even been much better than this one!!!! Certainly will not be returning!!!!!!!!

Chose Almond Beach Resort to spend my honeymoon. What a perfect home away from home it was. My husband and I enjoyed the dining, the food, the pools... All of the pools. The staff was friendly and helpful, from the recptionist to our tour guide, Steven.. There were tours included for the guests which everyone was talking about but we didn't avail due to inclement weather and sea conditions. However we are definitely looking forward to our next visit at this hotel.. great job Almond Beach Resort!!

For Barbados this was a good price all inclusive 10 night holiday booked through Blue Bay Travel. Flight was with Thomas Cook, shocking even though it was a new plane the seats are now so thin the flight is very uncomfortable. The choice of films was appalling so will definitely not do long haul with them again. Upon arrival immigration was very fast however getting the luggage was not ! There was a kiosk there that changed money that had better rates than when I checked in the UK. Transfer was very good with a very happy driver playing Christmas Carols with a bob marley twist! The hotel greeting was fine, luggage taken to room by Louis who also doubles as a driver who takes you to the sister hotel he is so friendly and helpful. We got a free ocean view superior room with the package and it definitely was large and did have a view. Everything worked and it was cleaned to a high standard. The next day when you see the hotel in daylight it is a bit of a shock, the pool area is scruffy, broken tiles or missing in the pool, ripped or saggy cheap sun loungers. If you look up there is tarpaulin over the roof of one building to hold the tiles on! Doors hanging off, shutters damaged, peeling paint the list goes on. I was not impressed at all and was feeling very disappointed with the hotel. Stephen did the welcome meeting and it was very informative about everything and for once not a sales pitch as all the trips are included. However, due to the sea conditions the glass bottom boat or turtle trip were not taking place and you were not allowed to enter the sea to swim. The trips are booked at reception which meant repeatedly re booking as they kept being cancelled. We did eventually do the turtle trip and it was fantastic, however not necessary as the turtles are in the sea right next to the Reef restaurant you just need to stand and wait to see them coming up for air. One day snorkeling (I suggest you take your own masks as the hotels aren't brilliant) I swam for ages with a few turtles absolutely fantastic, I became obsessed. The glass bottom boat is ok but god the driver is grumpy. The trip around the island (we were in a minibus as the coach was full) was ok but the only time the driver said anything was on our return when he was hinting for a tip.The jeep safari however was brilliant the driver Troy? was informative, witty and made the trip fun. We were with a group from Manchester who also added to it being a brilliant trip, that driver deserved every penny of his tip. Oistins trip every friday leaves the hotel too early so we decided to walk into Speightstown and catch the bus $2 each way, which was great on the way there but took too long on way back stopping at every stop and I have never seen so many pple crammed onto a bus. Oistins is ok and glad we experienced it but once is enough. The hotel is in a good location and Speighstown is a short 5 minute walk away but nothing very much there. A great looking restaurant Hugos was due to open there which would be good for a change from an all inclusive. You can walk the other way to the harbour and marvel at the yachts and the two ports. The restaurants varied, The Reef was really good for evening and I had some superb food in fact one meal was so good I would rate it as on of the best I have ever eaten and I have eaten at michelin star restaurants in the uk. You can also have breakfast in the Reef. Endis was ok for dinner but very good for lunch as it was al a carte rather than a buffet and the fish wrap was yummy. I hated the Horizon on the two occasions we had to go there, buffet food and not particularly hot or appealing. They offer a dining swop at their sister hotel the Sugar Cane which has to be booked at the reception, the hotel takes you there and collects you. Food was good and it was nice to have a change of scenery. The staff were either rude with attitude or absolutely brilliant it was weird. Some staff shone out could not do more to help you, Michael maitre d, Sean, Roger on the bar, Paula a waitress, Louis the bell boy and driver were all superb as well as others whose names I forget. We did tip the staff who were good and clearly not the ones with attitude. The hotel tried hard to entertain you but it did seem quite dated at times very 70's. It is a shame this hotel is being left to deteriorate and there is a huge section of the hotel which had lots of pool areas, that is literally a wreck now. It clearly needs an injection of money and I am sure in its hey day it would have been lovely. Barbados did grow on me but not sure why it is so much more expensive than other Caribbean Islands. I have seen better beaches in Jamaica, Cuba, Dominican, than this one and who the hell allowed the monstrosity of the cement factory beyond the harbour it pumps out black smoke all day. Not sure if I would go back as the world is a big place.

Lovely place, friendly staff, clean rooms, good location. Some areas of the resort were a Bit run down as rumours were being passed around that it is closing in April. Such a shame because it could have been great. Everyone did their best to make sure customers had a good time but there was a bit of a negative vibe.
