At Check-in, we had a complication & asked for an additional room for the week for three of us. Apple was going to charge $650 for 5 nights which seemed like a lot for five nights. Our trip total was $1,310.00 for 8nights.

I picked Allegro because it looked like they have an amazing beach and also good price . The beach was fantastic , great for everyone from small kids to adults. Not sure if it's like this during the busy times but in august there were plenty free beach chairs any time you come to the beach. It wasn't crowded at all. Lucky for us most guests were using pools so beach was not crowded at all. . If I wanted to swim in a pool I would have stayed home. Landscaping at this resort was excellent. They really put a lot of effort to make the grounds look amazing and clean. Rooms were small but sufficient with mini bar stocked daily. Maid service daily and also new towels every day. Food was average in my opinion. They had a lot of options, fresh vegetables, fruit. Many options to choose from for main dishes. I personally didn't find the food very tasty but it wouldn't be a reason not to visit this place again. I think there are plenty options for everyone to get full. If food is your top priority than it might not be the best place for you. This was my first time staying at all inclusive so not sure how other resorts compare as far as food goes. Allegro privides free beach towels but they do run out sometimes. Snorkling equipment they advertise is free but in reality you can get it for 1 hour every day for free. Anything beyond that you have to pay. Kayaks same thing you get one hour for free per day. They only have 4 kayaks so you might have to wait. Bringing your own snorkling gear might be a good idea if you like to snorkel a lot. Booking through Apple vacations gave us free airport to resorts transportation in both directions. Also, they have a representative in the hotel who can help you set up tours that are not included. Overall this was one of the best vacations for us. All inclusive is a way to go for a family vacation. It was very relaxing for a family of 4.

Skip the upgrade...

This was our second visit to the Allegro, while the staff is awsome, there are few things lacking. We did the upgrade package hoping for bigger/nicer rooms. Nope, neither. Our toilet had to be repaired 3 times and would still keep running sometimes. Shower temps fluctuated quite a bit. The music played in the club is SO LOUD it reverberates in your ears! Anywhere music played, it's horribly LOUD. The food isn't great, but none of us lost any weight. Lol. Would be nice if the club started playing dance music before 10pm. The beach is very nice. Bring your own snorkel stuff as the wait in line for it can be quite long. Overall Allego Cozumel is a nice place and I wouldn't mind going back someday. Carlos makes wonderful flaming coffee!!

Quantity of food and labeling of food/premier signage

One complaint is that when food was gone on the buffet, it was slow or never to be refilled. Wish food would be labeled to how spicy it is. We upgraded to a premier room, premier options could have been labeled better with signs. There were three access points and only one labeled.

Review of Allegro- Not worth it...
JOEL K.
Jan 24 2018
Our recent stay at Allegro was very very disappointing. We staying for 8 days at the end of December with a group of 12 friends and family members. Food: the only decent meals we had were at the restaurants that requires reservations (of which are limited and very difficult to get into). There are three restraunts that require reservations, yet we we're limited to only two reservations for our room for the 8 days we were there! The buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner needs a lot of work on quality and variety of food. Foods were not restocked often during buffet hours. So, if you did not go soon after the buffet opened, your options were very slim and there was a wait to even get a table. Service: 0/10...I have never stayed at a resort with such poor service. Many times, we had to flag down a waiter to even get water a with our meal. Front desk staff was rude and unfriendly upon arrival and check out. On our departure day we called for a bell boy as instructed with plenty of time before check out, waited and waited for 20 minutes for the bell boy to arrive before decided to carry all of our luggage up ourselves. Entertainment: Basically non-existent...huge let down for a family/kids resort. The night time entertainment shows were very poorly put together and was the same thing repeated almost every night. We were there 8 days and they only had one entertainment and it was Thursday afternoon foam pool party which is “one” of the stars- i expected that type of entertainment daily! Rooms and amenities: I have never stayed at such a "cheap" place. The villas are right on top of one another and walls so thin that we could hear every little sound. From building 35 (centrally located near the butter edge) we heard the same music over and over from the pool all day long, the excessively loud music from the shows and mini disco at night and between all of that, you can hear conversations word for word from the surrounding rooms, the shower turning on, phones ringing and toilets flushing in the buildings next to us at all hours of the day. Absolutely no "quiet time", making it very frustrating with kids. Although kept clean, the rooms are very small and water temperature never remained stable while showering & to mention we complained about our shower not working for 3 days! It wasn’t until the 3rd time i went down to the front desk and waited until they made a direct call to matience versus writing it down that they did something about it and fixed it with electrical tape (which was fine but if I’m paying to stay at a nice resort, it was quite the cheap fix, and a crappy shower for 3 days strait and waste of my time complaining about it)! Overall, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. The best parts of our trip were the excursions and activities we did OFF the resort. There many many other all inclusive resorts within the same price range that will allow a much better vacation experience.

Allegro - Cozumel

Service at Allegro was stupendous as always as this is our 4th trip with Apple to Cozumel Allegro. The Beach is beautiful, no rocks, great snorkeling, saw many fish! Bartenders at Allegro go beyond our expectations each and every year, starting with Freddy, Armanda, Sergio & Juan Carlos. Kudos to these guys who work hard and make our trip enjoyable each and every time. Would like to see more Adult orientated shows in the Theatre in the future. Buffett food was good, Reservation restaurants were Excellent. Service in both was also above and beyond! Love the Mayan Coffee!!!!! We will be back next year for sure!

Was very disappointed that we could only get 2 dinner reservations to the al a carte restaurants during our stay. Was not impressed with the food on the main buffet. Did like the lunch buffet. Our rooms didn't get cleaned until close to 4 when we would want to go back to the room to shower and get ready for dinner which was annoying. Had to call front desk a few times for towels. Also there were a few times I called the front desk and got no answer.

My family of 4 decided to extend our Cancun vacation 2 days and stay in Cozumel at the Allegro Cozumel. Overall, the resort was clean and maintained fairly well, and our kids loved the play area. Unfortunately, we had experiences with the hotel that more than offset the good times we experienced. First of all, the food reservation process was a joke. A staff member told us, you need to make reservations MONTHS in advance, so unfortunately we ate at the cafeteria for 2 days which had so-so food options. The major concern with our stay… On our last night, we were in our room getting ready when we received a knock at the door and the receptionist mentioned that THEY made a clerical mistake and WE needed to pay an additional $240 for our kids who are ages 3 and 5. I was at a loss of words, because our stay was $270, so this clerical mistake was nearly doubling our stay. Obviously, we questioned the error and I spoke to management because both the children were on the reservation, the receptionist made copies of their passports, and the kids were given their all-inclusive bracelets at check-in, so they were acknowledged and documented throughout the check-in process. At this point, management threatens to call the police unless I paid. At this point, management had reduced the fee from $240 to $60. A friend (who was traveling with us) stepped in and paid them $40 so they would not call the police. I am very thankful he agreed to pay, because I was very upset with the hotel and its management at this point, and my friend used MUCH better judgement and avoiding getting the Mexican police involved. Needless to say that ruined the remainder of my stay. I would not recommend anyone staying at this hotel.

All in all an average stay, nice pools and beaches but the food and drinks were very mediocre. Staff was very nice but if you stay here I recommend getting off the resort for several meals and exploring the local cuisine.

The beach was beautiful! The rooms are in huts. The Chef, Gilberto Navarro Velazquez made sure the food was very very good for the star rating of this property. You won't be disappointed. I recommended and I will return.

Unacceptable New Dock Fee for offsite Dive Operators
timmM3224AN,
Mon Dec 10 13:50:54 EST 2018
As a person who has stayed at this resort at least 20 times, knowing what you can expect and what you can't expect, I was shocked and dismayed that Allegro is allowing the onsite dive operator ProDive to charge a "maintenance fee" for dock usage by anyone using offsite operators. I choose not to use ProDive since they use cattle boats for their operations, have dictated to dive sites and divemasters that are not local divers who rotate out on a regular basis as immigration catches up to them. They have hired a security guard who initially asked us for $5 per trip to the dock per person. When I declined to pay the guard stated that the fee (which was supposed to be $3 pp per trip according to ProDive) would be passed onto our dive operator (who will subsequently charge us...) and we would not be able to use the dock unless paid. Funny....since I am a time share owner here for over 20 years and pay maintenance fees on the property yearly.... Apparently when Allegro brought ProDive on displacing the previous operator Dive Palancar (who is a lot better in my opinion) they also rented the dock to them... Since they are losing business due to a poor service (in my opinion) they have to try and get back market share and make up costs by charging this "fee" to maintain the dock which has not been touched since Hurricane Wilma hit the island. I would encourage you to take this into account prior to booking. The Allegro is much the same as it has always been... Nice sized resort, good people, decent but not amazing food. All in all a good place to come back to...if they get their act together with the local dive operation....maybe it is time for a different dive operator!!!!!!!
